You know what, I think a very simple plot would be good. Maybe something like a military science organization tasked to protect the world from a group of aliens. Then its mentor assigns 5 of the members of the organization to use some kind of technology to become the rangers. Something like the 80s sentai like Changeman or Flashman or Bioman, something simple and not too extreme, just basic military and science.

Bioman and Flashman aren't really like that though. Their powers are both of alien origin and they don't work for military or any organization at all. Even the Sentai that fit the description better like Goggle V, Ohranger and Gobusters use "extreme" assets like ancient civilization magic and mutation to empower the heroes.
