Oh yeah, so we finally watched Acts 4 and 5 of the newest Sailor Moon Crystal season yesterday and is it wrong me to say I was bored to death? Am I supposed to be feeling this way when my favorite characters are finally making their apperances?

Yeah the new season of Crystal was a bit weird. It was better than the previous ones in that the animation was a lot better and the characters all began to actually feel like characters, but worse because the actual main plot was boring as hell.

Started Katanagatari last night.

Gotta say, the 50 minute runtime is really working for me. And two episodes in, it's already pretty good. NisiOisiN really knows how to write 'em. Very entertaining.

Finished Episode 16 of Gurren Lagann. Pretty nice. Although I do feel rather short-changed on what happened with the Spiral King. I know what's coming next so of course they had to do what they did, but it just felt flat with all the mystique & wonder concerning him from the start. And Viral also felt lackluster despite seeming to be a part of something bigger after talking to the Spiral King not too long ago. But the fights were cool & Simon was nothing short of awesome.

I am just loving Berserk. About to start episode 21.

Shame I've heard nothing but bad, bad things about the new show. Makes my rush to watch everything else almost not worth it, but I've been enjoying it anyway so oh well. Still plan to watch the movies first too, but apparently I'll still be missing out on arcs because for whatever reason the new show is skipping over them? Is that right? Seems pretty dumb... Hope I can find some good summaries somewhere.

I also watched the first episode of 91 Days today. This show looks promising.

Well the original anime and the movies both adapt the same arc (Golden Age) while the new show is going to adapt parts of both the Black Swordsman arc and the Conviction arc, so you definitely won't be getting everything. It doesn't diminish everything though as I think the original is a damn close masterpiece without needing to know anything else about Berserk. Actually if you're interest I recently review both the entirety of the 97 show and the first episode of the new one.

Demon of Steel: Battle of the Great Demon Beasts - I found a rather obscure anime on Youtube and it seem like a cool anime to watch. I went in knowing nothing about this anime. Personally I'm rather disappointed. I was not hoping for high art, but I wanted something way less boring to watch.

This anime is 56 minutes long and nothing happens for 40 minutes. The whole monster mecha battles don't happen until the end of the anime. The pacing sucked and the characters are so one-dimensional. I didn't care for anyone and what happens to them. The story itself didn't make much sense and things are poorly explained in this anime.

Why didn't anyone address the enormous black rock that I assume has sat in the ocean for the past three years? Everyone must be too stupid not to notice it. The last battle is so anti-climactic and it makes you rather angry for sitting through 40 minutes of utterly boring filler with dull characters.

For positives that I enjoy in this anime was the music and animation. The animation is very solid for an anime that was released in 1987. The monster designs are awesome looking. That's pretty much about it since this anime has very little to offer.

Was it Awful? No, it was just really mediocre. I feel like that this could have been a great anime. Sadly, we just got a really boring and forgettable anime. There are better anime from the late 80's and you can skip this one.
