Been ages since I watched any Toku, so I decided to watch some more MMPR now I have the figuarts. And trust the episode to be mind numbingly stupid. Yes I know it's a giant robot pterodactyl but if you can fly that, why is flying a plane such a daunting concept? All the drama and tension of this episode was lost for me. Why not put one of the Rangers in this situation who didn't have a flying mech? Oh yeah because common sense is something this show lacks...
Wasn't Snizzard the one voiced by Brian Cranston? Shame he was just sorta tacked on at the end.

That episode was awesome. I loved the whole comment Kimberly makes to Bulk, "Well, this plane is small and uh..."
And what does her having a flying mech having to do with anything? A mech is not an airplane. |

Watched the Clash of the Red Rangers movie, the RPM side was completely underrepresented, the Samurai guys are goofy, and Scott was kind of a jerk.
And yet I didn't hate it, it was goofy and silly, but it worked for me, besides they were making fun of themselves all the time, and that's what made it work, also ![]() That said I watched the latinamerican dub, since I'm not that fond of the original actors acting. |

Because she acted like flying and landing a plane was this epic and challenging experience when she pretty much daily drives a giant dinosaur robot plane.

The following episode of MMPR was another shit one. Did they not watch Zyuranger first? Everything 'Power Rangers' about this show seems so shamelessly tacked on, I mean have we had what, three episodes now focused around Billy wanting to learn to defend himself after getting constantly picked on, despite by this point seeing him take down monsters singlehandedly and all the rest?
I understand Power Rangers is a learning curve and this was their first attempt but this stuff seems so ridiculously basic, I can forgive the show to extents but it's like the show went out of its way to make sure nothing in MMPR matches with what was in Zyuranger. Eurgh... Oh well, I'm almost at the Green Rangers introductory arc, I'm gonna watch that and then drop this awful awful show.

It really is, huh?
I try, I try so hard to enjoy the show. I make excuses for the show, I get myself in the right frame of mind, wear my nostalgia goggles but I'm sorry this show is just bad. Y'know, this is your first go so I don't expect a perfect show, or a perfect blend of Zyu and MMPR but Mighty Morphin doesn't feel like it's trying at all, they basically made Saved by The Bell and for four minutes of every episode they change the channel to a Japanese show called Zyuranger before changing back with barely a mention that it happened.

They were going through the ZyuRanger episodes 15 episodes at at time. Tony Oliver said he went through the first 15 episodes (which were raw btw), pulled out the footage they could use, and then wrote a story for an episode that went around the footage. They were also filming 4 episodes at a time because they had to have 40 episodes ready to air for 8 weeks straight in Sept of 93 without any breaks or anything as that was originally all Fox was going to give them. So when he goes to watch Zyu 16-30, Dragon Ranger appears in 17, and he said he stopped the episode immediately, called to have an emergency meeting with Saban and people to discuss that there was another ranger. They also then went through the episodes throughout the series to find out if he was a permanent character or not because Toei never told them there were 6 rangers, they only told them there were 5. As such, they had to find episodes that did not feature Dragon Ranger to use while they casted the character and got his costume and stuff made.
You say that is stupid, but do you really think it is easy to cut and paste footage in mere minutes? I'd like to see you do what these guys did back in the 90s. Regardless of what you think of the final product, I can definitely tell you they worked their asses off to make the show. And remember, MMPR is the first time they ever attempted something of this caliber. Do you really think they know exactly how to do it in the very beginning? Also, Saban initially wanted to do Bioman back in 84, and then he tried again with Jetman in 91. Guess what did not exist in any of those series? A SIXTH RANGER!!
