Also, I hate the dub voices in general, so no matter how accurate they are I would not watch it. |

Speaking of Jojo, I'm not sure how exactly I'm supposed to feel about the fact that in Part 2 Speedwagon's seemingly-seedy-dude-who-turns-out-to-be-pretty-respectable-and-also-mostly-screams-a-lot-of-explanations-during-fight-scenes equivalent is an Actual Nazi, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Haven't made so much progress on Kaiji or Jojo beyond the last time I posted about them but I have been catching up on a few more of my seasonals. So I guess I'll briefly post my thoughts on the ones I'm up to date on. ACCA is alright. It's definitely not bad, but...I don't know, it's a little slow, maybe? It's a little hard to explain. All the characters feel very distant, so while we see them do and think a lot we are never privy to any of those thoughts. It's hard to stay too engaged when the characters feel so closed off. I guess that's how I'd put it trying to articulate my thoughts on it. But the setting is fairly interesting. I guess the plot also is, but between the aforementioned slow pace of the show coupled with never really knowing what's on the characters' minds it's hard, at least for me, to really pick up on where all the threads are actually leading. Also caught up with Kobayashi-san Chi no MaiDragon, and just, shit, I really friggin love this anime. It's hard for me to deal with and understand how much I enjoy it. It's so great. I watched both of the previous adaptations of Cool-kyou's various manga, and I had nowhere near the same fondness for either of them. The otaku husband one was alright, and Komori was downright mediocre crap, so I wasn't even planning on watching this one (and the whole dragon maid thing didn't exactly inspire a lot of confidence either). It took a rapping PV to get me to reconsider, and by god I am glad I took the chance on this. It's still very recognizably a Cool-kyou story with a Cool-kyou sense of humor, and, despite a lot of added polish, a Cool-kyou art style. But it's amazing what a stark difference having full length episodes (the previous shows being shorts probably accounting for a lot of my ambivalence) and the high quality of art and animation that KyoAni brings with it make. It's a very polished, very well realized show. The music rocks, the voice acting is top notch, as mentioned KyoAni just makes it an absolute joy to watch. The characters are fun and endearing and the whole thing is cute and funny and just, it's crazy, it shouldn't work, but it really does. Also, Kanna. My god. A lot of anime try to create cute girl characters, to then have them do cute things. This show was made in order to prove definitively that every past attempt has been a resounding failure. Kanna is like next generation cute. I honestly can't even deal. My only real point of contention with the show is as of the latest episode, with more elaboration into Lucoa's circumstances and the weird sexual harassment going on with Shouta... When I think back to the depravity of Danna ga Nani wo Itteiru Wakaranai Ken (Cool-kyou needs to get shorter titles) I guess this caliber of gross shouldn't strike me as particularly odd, but it's gross nonetheless. My only consolation is Shouta appears to be no more into it than I am, so all I can hope for is that the show minimizes his appearances going forward. Literally everything else that could be and is going on in the show is more worthwhile and great. That being the case, I'm more willing to forgive this crap, though I would have preferred it not being there at all. But such is the plight of the animemes. Hm. Anything else. I don't think I've mentioned Koro-sensei Q. Man do I not care about this. I don't know why I have such aggressive apathy towards any and all animated AssClass, because I don't really think any of it is bad (I mean, mostly), I just appear to be incapable of caring for it. It's weird especially because I'm reading the manga right now, and I think it's pretty good. I don't know. Though Q at least suffers form a few particularly heavy handed jokes, it's still not so bad...seriously, the Chiba/Hayami gags in the latest episode should have gotten way bigger laughs out of me than they did. Okay expect for that one. However series like Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Sailor Moon, and Dragon Ball have move on from being localized (Music change, bad censorship and altered dialogue).

Dragonball Super.
At this point I don't really care about what happens with the Dragonball story, it's just become an SH Figuarts preview portal for me- because if Goku dies: He'll be back. They'll always find a way to bring him back- so the story doesn't really matter anymore- he'll return from the dead somehow. All I really care about now, when it comes to Dragonball, is collecting SH Figuarts- and depending on what new Super Saiyan forms pop up throughout the series: That just gives me a hint as to what might possibly come down the SHF pipe. That's really all Dragonball is to me now- just an SHF prediction program. Don't get me wrong: I've enjoyed Super, it's been cool so far, but ultimately that's all I'm using it for. (Crosses fingers) Please make an SHF of Super Saiyan Rose, please make an SHF of Super Saiyan Rose, please make an SHF of Super Saiyan Rose, come on Bandai....^_^ |

8 Man After - I first saw this anime as a kid on Sci-Fi and I seen the original 8 Man TV series too. This is the first time that I've seen this anime in nearly 20 years and I still enjoy it. I even like 8 Man After over the original series. The original 8 Man is a decent show, but I do like the story and characters in this anime better.
What I like about 8 Man After is the darker and more violent tone. The atmosphere feels darker and grittier than the original series. I also find the characters more interesting and I dig the relationship between Hazama and Sachik. The little kid was alright, but I do like the relationship between him and his father. The other cast of characters are nothing too special and the villains are pretty cool though. What I also like about the story is the themes like "Trying not lose control of your humanity" and how Hazam manage to override his control over his body. The animation is good, but could have been better (I seen anime release in 1993 and before that looked better). The music is also really good too and it really captures the tone of the anime. While this anime is considered to be a sequel to the orignal 8 Man series, you can watch it without watching or reading the original TV series. I also recommended to watch this anime subbed because the Streamline dub is pretty cheesy at times. Overall, 8 Man After is a pretty fun cyberpunk anime. It may not deep and groundbreaking, but I enjoy it for what it is. I would recommend this anime for people who like titles such Armitage III and Ghost in the Shell or Tokustsu superheroes like Kamen Rider and Android Kikaider. I give this anime a 7/10
