I guess they considered the Shinkenger cockpit footage TOO Japanese (to be honest, if I was a kid watching the show I probably wouldn't find it all that impressive either) and it was the easiest part to change to include the "TO SELL TOYS" mega mode suits.

I agree it sucks that they aren't used in battle. Especially when the battlizer comes into play as well in the second season.

But Shinkenger is extremely Japanese all the way through (even if it is a little rose tinted and fairy tale like) so it seems weird that the cockpits broke the camels back.

Seeing Kain's issues with Samurai makes me realize just how boned Saban is. It seems everything is a lose-lose situation for them.

I know Saban makes tons of problems and a lot of issues are on them, but man, it seems everything is stacked against them. They literally can't win when it comes to Power Rangers.

Disney were able to stick very closely to the sentai without watering them down, and they usually shot enough of their own stuff to make the seasons their own anyway. So Saban has no excuse for being so fucking lazy, they produce piss weak versions of the sentai with new modes that are there ONLY to sell toys and add nothing to the shows at all.

That is Saban's problem, laziness, you go back and watch the early Saban stuff where they really tried to make something new, you realise that they really made no attempt to make a cohesive show, using existing footage in a new direction, they just smashed Japanese footage into their American show whether it worked or not and as an adult it's just unwatchable.

People also really need to move on from MMPR.

Part 5 was fucking epic! It would have been nice if anything in this episode had build up...like at all, shit just kept happening for no reason but I soon stopped caring about that because MAN the mech stuff in this episode was great. I think this is the first time I've truly, properly, enjoyed Power Rangers mecha action.

Plus Jason and Tommy's showdown really was very satisfying visually, it's just a shame that it had no context at all, Tommy was just the new kid in town who Kimberly flirted with once, yet everyone acts like they've gotta save their childhood friend or some shit. It really did make a very satisfying wrap up to an otherwise pretty damn decent arc, and it feels like the perfect place to drop the show.

The rushed happy ending at the end was awful though.

I don't see any reason they couldn't use the original cockpits. Heaven forbid they use Samurai to teach children about Japanese culture in the process of the show.

Plus, the new cockpits are just plain and boring.

I have no idea about anything in RPM as it never aired in CO.

Don't remember anything about JF either other than the US actor for Rio getting beaten with the ugly stick.

WF was still Saban even though Disney bought them halfway through.
