Which is unfortunate. I specifically wouldn't see the film if he'd been in it. It wouldn't hurt this movie to have actually gotten some bigger names in it but they could always do better than him.

Exactly, people seem to really REALLY struggle to wrap their head around the fact that a "good" movie and a "successful" movie (at least in multiplex standards) aren't the same thing.

I know all this stuff isn't taught in schools or whatever and I guess it's hard to wrap your head around, in the way a lot of the world is when you're a kid, but the over privileged ignorance in this thread at times is astounding.

I will say one thing,it is very cliche and cheesy.But the fight scenes make you totally not care about it at all.The acting,even though most called it bad,is extremely good.They picked the actors perfectly.

While I respect your opinion, please respect mine too. However, the guy keeps getting work on a regular basis and has fans and money to support my opinion of him.

I get where you're coming from though. I don't think Steve Carrel is funny at all, and he keeps getting work too.

No, I've seen the trailers. But there are people in this thread that have said "it's your duty" or "do your part" to see this film. Why? I feel like because we're Toku fans, it's being mandated that we need to see this movie. I have yet to hear a reasoning behind this.

The issue I have in this thread is that some of you are acting like because people don't want to see Pacific Rim or choose a different film over it, that suddenly those people have no "taste" or "intellect" and it's insulting.

Besides, they're two different friggin' genres. Some people just want to laugh. I hardly see an issue with that.

If everyone agreed and liked the same thing, what's the point of a forum for discussion in the first place?

Daikaiju is a genre, just because you like tokusatsu movies or shows doesn't mean one automatically likes daikaiju movies or shows.

I think it is the duty of daikaiju fans to go see this movie, not tokusatsu fans in general!

Honestly I don't think people really mean you must see it as a Tokusatsu fan or whatever. It's just a figure of speech, not meant to be taken literally. So I think Sentai Tamashii is right.

It was such a good movie, but unfortunately like someone said above, good and successful movies are two different things. Grown Ups 2, while a horrible movie, will do better. I hope that's not the case, but it most likely will be.

If you're interested in Pacific Rim at all, then go see it! It's SO good.
