They're still connections, which you said didn't exist. You just can't ignore the fact that there are countless connections to the original footage.

Yeah. Because the only parallels it draws with the sentai counterpart is stuff IN the footage. Since they aren't redesigning the suits, weapons and zords they will be the same in either version, they can't help that.

That is why Power Rangers either changes the context or the rules of the powers.

It's one of the reasons Boukenger and Overdrive don't interest me (the other being that Overdrive sucks). Rest assured I will watch either if done for Let's Watch Wednesday's (let's stick to the Sentai, m'kay?), but neither on their own initially caught my eye. Hell, my main, and possibly only, gripe with the great DaiBouken is that an F-1, a dump truck and a bulldozer don't scream "treasure hunt."
