Fun fact, Inoue wrote a few of the eps. Not sure which ones, but it was one of his early works in the genre before Jetman. Some notable alumnis to look out for are Sayoko Hagiwara aka Dyna Pink and Kyoryu Green's mom, Joji Nakata aka Great Prof. Bias and the voice of Boccowaus, Yutaka Hirose who was Dr. Kemp, Tranza, and Jin Matoba, Ryosuke Kaizu aka Red Mask, and Kazuoki Takahashi aka Change Griffon. TL;DR, enjoy.

Ah, yes. I was just mentioning the few alumnis who were villains and guest roles. I should've specified. Speaking of, Tota Tarumi who played Red Flash went on to appear in Winspector as the scientist who hijacks Brian and Yasuhiro Ishiwata who played Blue Flash was in Maskman as a guest role the following year and later as Ray in Jetman.

Speaking of Flashman, I am already up to 11 episodes into the series.
I am also four episodes into my Dekaranger rewatch. Last edited by GuardianAngel87; 07-22-2024 at 07:52 PM.. |

Speaking of Dekaranger, I just watched 20th Fireball Booster.
I'm glad to say that the streak of good anniversary movies this decade continues for me. Well, this one was decent anyway. The plot was kind of predictable, as I'm pretty sure it already happened at least once somewhere else with the culprit pretending to be a cute victim and blackmailing an innocent to take the fall for them. Despite a cliche plot, the action was cool and it was interesting to see what the Kochi Prefecture looks like in the modern day, it has such a deep history and culture. Shin Neo Dekabase looks much better than its predecessor, although I wish I could've seen its Henkei. I'm relieved to have confirmation that Jasmine's OP teleportation powers were just a temporary thing. The mecha fight against a giant plant feels like a reference to Power Rangers SPD's finale. The moral of the subplot with Ban was good, that being a mentor doesn't mean you have to slow down. Overall, a fairly basic Dekaranger story that doesn't do anything particularly innovative, but stays true to the theme, characters and formula of the show while exploring a region of Japan seldom seen in Tokusatsu, which is honestly good enough for me to recommend. In addition to the totally humorous Tombo-Ohger prequel.

Kakuranger 30th. Very fun, a nice little love letter to our aging heroes. It's crazy to think Tsuruhime was a teenager during the original series. Also, having the impossible occur of having Kane Kosugi returning brought a massive smile to my face.
I definitely think this would've benefitted from being a full film, rather than a special. The plot with the new kid moves at breakneck pace, and while it's easy to understand, it just doesn't have enough time to really grip you. Also Junior returning but not turning into Gashadokuro. C'mon now. Still, I loved it. Seeing this group of goobers grown up and actually functioning members of society was fantastic, and the transformation joke was on point. The new yokai designs were sweet (I love Kamaitachi), and it felt like a nice return to form for the Kakurangers (I did find it odd that both this and Abaranger 20th used the theme of the internet creating hatred for the villains powers, though) Also, good lord the cameos. A good chunk of returning characters, toku actors from other series, and even the suit actors for Ninja Red and White in minor roles (Also Tsumuri's actress from Geats, which was cute to see)

Five episodes out from the end of Shinkenger.
Godoka, I love this show so much. I'm going to miss it so much.
