I wish they'd put the effort in releasing actual sets, I'd love to own some of my favourites on DVD. But not only are subbed sets extremely rare, they are only released in the US, and are normally dodgy HK subs.
What I think a lot of these greedy suits don't realise is that most people who pirate or use fansubs or whatever else aren't evil, they are perfectly happy to pay, but if you refuse to take our money then we're going to have to find less pure channels to get our entertainment. And I'm sure someone is going to argue that 'if it isn't available to you, wait until it is' and fair point, but have you seen how much of a DVD graveyard the UK is compared to the US? I only have one life, I can't waste it waiting for something that may never come. And although there are ways around this, they are unnecessarily costly. I'm willing to pay, but not through the nose, simply because shit isn't made available in my country. I don't live in the third world, but it seems DVD distributors seem to think we are.

I'd like to say I'm surprised, but I'm really not.

Better it drops now then after it starts. Maybe next time when they start a channel, they'll include stuff we'd actually want to see. Like some friggin' Toku.

I'm not surprise since I had a feeling that this would happen. Maybe Crunchyroll can try to pick up Kamen Rider and Super Sentai now.

Because if that was the price to get regularly available tokusatsu sets, I don't think I'd bother either.

Yeah but isn't most of the anime fandom small children who don't have the money to purchase anime sets? Anime sets which are made much more widely available than tokusatsu sets, but come with lacklustre dubbing, censored material and huge price tags?
Because if that was the price to get regularly available tokusatsu sets, I don't think I'd bother either. Those are mostly excuses most simply do it because it's free. |
