Honestly, I found it quite boring... I found Full Throttle much more funny to see. The funny thing is that I found the Sentai Ninninger VS episode much better than this

I kinda liked it for the most part, but tbh story-wise it was kinda weak and that end race was kinda pulled out of nowhere. What I did like was that Sangou felt like the strongest rider that you want on your side and the way he dominates throughout the film is just boss. I really do hope to see Sangou again sometime, maybe Kuroi could remember something about his past to henshin once more.

Kamen Rider 3 and maybe the soundtrack were easily the best things about this movie.
It wasn't bad by any means, but by the end I just grew bored of all the fight scenes...having the race in the middle did help a bit with that I guess. But there's way too much heavy focus on Kamen Rider for this to be considered a Super Hero Taisen movie...yes, the Niningers did show up but their involvement was pretty much uneeded and wasted. The spring specials feel wasted if you aren't even going to acknowledge that they happened. The first Super Hero Taisen Movie might've had it's flaws but at least they actually made use of both franchies Last edited by Kiryu; 08-20-2015 at 10:50 PM.. |

Decent flick. Nothing too exciting, the story was non-existent, but the action-scenes were pretty nice and that's what we wanted to see anyways.
The old-school intro was awesome, as well as the big race and the end-fight. Rider 3 made this movie by himself, great Rider. The Ninningers though... super out of place. They should have just left those out entirely and called this a Kamen Rider movie, because that's what it is. |

Just finished this. I decided to make notes as I was watching and then type them up here when done. I promise you these all made sense in context.
- Cool use of OG series footage for the intro. - Just realized Shocker's leader is wearing a mask over his mask. Maskception? - Transition to modern footage is really obvious. - Why does Rider 3's car have the Tachibana Racing Club logo on it? - Rider 3's suit totally looks the same vintage as Riders 1 and 2. Toooootally. - Alternate history where Shocker wins and takes over the world. This is a new plot and not one that we've already seen before. - Oh yeah, this is ostensibly a Drive movie. Kinda forgot. - Drive gimmick refresher. - Yeah, this is totally just the Let's Go Riders 40th anniversary movie again. God damn it, Yonemura. - I'm calling it now that 3 is secretly a hero pretending to be evil to trick the villains. - Shocker goon doll on the captain's desk is adorable. - Hitler Youth go-karting. - KOTARO!!! - Best Kotaro! I wonder how we're going to get RX in here now. - Drive vs. Black. There is going to be some bullshit in here to make Drive win. - Stupid Hitler Go-Kart Youth. - Rider 3's car has a manual transmission. I approve. - Cars turn into CGI when doing tight turns. - Challenge Drive to a race then just says he's unworthy and piss off? Rider 3 is such a cocktease. - Gaim is already downgraded to cannon fodder. - Wait, if Riders 1 and 2 died at the end of the original series, how the hell does V3 exist? - Way to turn your own guy against you there, Shocker. - Oh, this is how they're gonna do RX. - Had I seen this movie six months ago, I would be openly cheering during the scene where the Captain died. - There's no character development like horribly rushed character development. - Kiriko has cojones. - Had cojones. - This is a terrible time for an epic paralyzing meltdown, Shinnosuke. - Rider 3, what is your deal? - Holy crap, Rider 3 is... some guy! - This is not a good movie to be a supporting character from Drive. - Flashbacks to stuff that happened two minutes ago! - I like Rider 3's henshin. - V3 makes absolutely no sense here. - Drive vs. Riderman is adorably low-key. - Oh, this asshole (Mach). - Obviously they did not get X's actor back for this movie. - Rider 3 is a dick. - So Gou is totally up on everything that's going on and is still a good guy, I guess? - Holy crap, it's... some other guy! - I am very confused about whose side the Riders are on. I thought Shocker defeated them, but I guess they just brainwashed them? How completely different from the 40th anniversary movie! - It's J! And he's probably going to get his ass kicked again. - "J" is short for "jobber." - The Denliner? Oh, no, it's the Zeroliner. - Oh, that guy was Yuuto without his hair dyed. Did not recognize him. - Hey, it's the Libra Horoscope! Must be time to gather the guest stars. - Really? Someone put Leangle in charge of something? Leangle? - Gou is such a douchebag. - This movie needs more Deneb. - Obviously, we did not get Kenzaki's actor back. - Libra, you dick. - Waiting for the "Ore wa ka-na-ri... TSUYOI!" - Tak-kun! - Oh, Drive supporting cast shenanigans... - Obivous trap is obvious. - Oh, no! The 80s Riders! Not feeling scared for our heroes. - Really random Burning Agito. - False Tachibana Tobei = - Obvious trap is still obvious. - Deneb would've totally prevented this. - God damn it, Hitler Go-Kart Youth. Why are you even here? - The race challenge is an incredibly stupid plot twist. - Shocker is totally going to lose because they didn't just murder the crap out of Yuuto and Shinnosuke right here and now. - Shinnosuke, your suit is going to hella wrinkle if you sleep in it. - This race is so stupid. - Sakurai Yuuto died for your sins. - I want to see Diend as one of the racers. On foot. - Fake Haruto is still cool. - Gaim is officially old toy. - No. No, you do not get to give the Hitler Go-Kart Youth a character arc, movie. No. - Contractually obligated Machine Chaser. - Yep. Black RX. - Kento Handa is the best Rider alumnus. - That was a great speech, Drive. In next year's movie you're going to get your ass kicked by some random monster from Stronger and contribute absolutely nothing to the plot. - Shut up, Hitler Go-Kart Youth; the flying Trideron is lame. - Cars turn into CGI during turns again. - Kiriko's actress is obviously freezing. Her nose is all red and you can see her breath when she talks. - That cannot be good for your car's engine. - Shut up, Hitler Go-Kart Youth. - Emotional post-race confrontation scene. Begin countdown to forced Sentai cameo. - "Strongest Shocker Rider" isn't nearly as impressive of a title as you think it is. - Trains and/or ninjas in 10... 9... - Gotta work in the "top gear" catchphrase. - God damn it, Hitler Go-Kart Youth. - FUCK YEAH, DENEB!!! - Say it, Yuuto... - Thank you. - I like that all four Blade Riders show up as heroes together. Even Fake Mutsuki. - Rider roll call: still haven't seen Shin, Kuuga, or Den-O at this point. - Giant Shocker Robot. Time for J to get his ass kicked? - Oh, there's the rest of the main guys: blink-and-miss-them backgrond cameos. Remember when Den-O had to be the main star of everything Kamen Rider-y? - Super Sentai cameo in 5... 4... - This is totally the 40th Anniversary movie all over again. - All the Riders vs. a bunch of monsters in a quarry. Never seen this before. - Holy crap, J is actually getting some hits in before his inevitable beatdown! - And now he's dead. - Sentai in 3... 2... - Fake Haruto is still too cool to be erased from history. - Heroic turn for villain pretending to be good pretending to be evil. God damn it, Yonemura. - OG Rider theme = - Wait... if Black RX is just happening now, how the hell is General Jark here? - Annnnd Ninjas. Totally an organic plot development. - Oh man, they don't even get lines. That is how little they matter. - BUY THESE TOYS, KIDS AND HITLER GO-KART YOUTHS!! - Epic showdown between Mach and that one guy from that one scene with Yuuto half an hour ago. - This Mach scene totally warrants all of the focus it's getting. I guess. - Seriously, though, children of Japan: Ninninger. 8am every Sunday. Make your parents buy you the toys. For god's sake, don't watch Pokemon instead. - And Gou will be saved by... random Iron Man in-helmet footage? - Gaim almost did something notable. Remember when he and Rider 1 dueled for the fates of all the Kamen Riders? Now he's getting less screen time than friggin' Garren. - The Triple Rider Kick is really awesome until you stop and realize that they just killed the bumbling cop sidekick from Drive. - Say your catchphrase again, Ninningers, I don't think you've included enough of your show's branding yet. - No, V3. No, he is not the real Kamen Rider 3. He is as important and lasting of a contribution to the franchise as that guy from last year's movie whose kid died and whose name I don't even remember! - Enveloping. Literary technique. Look it up. - God damn it, Hitler Go-Kart Youth. - So, wait... Gou's dead? Yeahbuhwha? - Oh, Deneb, you are so wonderful. - So that's it? Gou is just dead at the end of the movie? This is our big takeaway from the film? No more Kamen Rider Mah-ha except for on the show every week for the rest of the series? What the actual fuck, movie? - Drawing of Faiz killing the Horse Orphenoch in the credits kinda feels super awkward now. - Oh. Web movies teaser which may or may not have be the follow-up to Gou's death. tl;dr version: Meh. It was okay. It was painfully derivative of all Yonemura's other movies, just like all of Yonemura's other movies. I really missed the more character-driven moments we got last year with Takumi and Jin or the good Decade stuff. This wasn't, like, Superhero Taisen levels of bad, but it was pretty bland and forgettable. It did give us Kyu in a Rastafarian wig and the awful Hitler Go-Kart Youth, though, and I will always treasure both. Last edited by Switchblade; 08-22-2015 at 03:18 PM.. |

The Gaim-thing is incredibly infuriating, since in initial promos of the movie it looked like Gaim would appear as a character in the movie because his Overlord-powers would make him immune against Shockers history correction-machine, and that he would play a key-role in the Rider-resistsance alongside the Liner-crews.
But I guess all of this got dropped when they couldn’t get Gaim's actor back. We just have to accept that certain characters will lose their focus once their show is over and the toys are sold. It will happen with Drive next year too. |

Yeah that was sure a Taisen movie alright. Not the worst one I've seen, but certainly not a whole lot to rave about. Rider 3 was pretty cool I guess, I liked the whole "wasn't brainwashed but still chose to continue to be a bad guy" element to his character, but a lot of his development just felt rather whiny (protip Kuroi: the Showa Riders will never accept you because you're too obsessed with the dead).
I actually rather enjoyed the race though for all its silliness, especially that bit where the Rideron just showed up to take out Chaser (sadly CGI but still). I really liked that the returning actors for the movie felt like a rag tag bunch of Riders rather than all the big name ones too, made me buy into the whole rebel Kamen Rider thing a lot more. I haven't actually watched Den-O yet, but I really really liked Zeronos. And Deneb. This film also had the best reasoning for putting Black and RX together since Decade...which really says a lot about Toei since it was a bit of a "this is happening because it can!" moment. The ending with Mach was utter BS though. History reverted back to normal but the events with Rider 3 still happened? How the hell does that make sense? Quote:
Also, the urine coloured Blade and Garren helmets are extremely off-putting.
