Plowed through all 10 in one sitting (minus a couple of pauses for various reasons).
It's definitely got callbacks and it's the story that helps cement it. You would think this would be an issue given how the Kyuranger footage is handled, and you aren't wrong, but the story and the PR-Exclusive elements definitely help it. The use of Monster suits from Kyuranger is all over the place, and don't expect each one to be used either. Some are just shoved into a scene to help pad the scene with more Monsters. Oh, and several suits aren't even from Kyuranger. They aren't always used in the manner that you would expect either. Zedd's voice isn't "Over-dubbed Archive Footage in Beast Morphers" bad, but it isn't the same as Dino Fury either. If I read the credits right, I think it's a well-known voice actor. You can tell that this follows Once & Always with little trouble and it definitely recycles some of those elements too. Would definitely recommend that you see Dino Fury at least once before heading into this. Is it great? It's solid, but far from perfect. Is it a possible bookend to 30 years worth of continuity? I wouldn't go that far, and I would surmise that only a few fans would, but I can see how a corporate mindset could interpret it that way. Is the finale of the final battle a little different from what you would expect in Power Rangers, but still strangely appropriate given the tone of the franchise? Yes. Am I thrilled at the prospect that this could be the End of an Era with the rumor of a possible hardcore reboot coming? Not completely. Can I accept this story as is, regardless of what the future does or doesn't hold? Yes. If I myself were adapting Kyuranger, is this how I would have done it? Absolutely not! Do I think some Kyuranger aspects could still be revisited in the future, especially if the rumored hardcore reboot fails? Definitely! I tried to avoid spoilers since we aren't seeing too many remarks yet. Do hope this interests those who are still hesitant about this, though. |

so just watched it enjoyed it
but the rumor of a reboot after this just kills it for me really brings it down as i want them to continue this story and the plot seeds that they sprinkled at the end i also just hate reboots always find them less then the original and just a lazy cash grab and is what took me out of comic books do to the big 2 constantly doing that if that reboot rumor did not exist this season would have easily been a 9 out of 10 for me as is. if it is never followed up on even with specials it's down to a 5 or 6 out of 10 though.

10 episodes, and it feels rushed as hell. The new characters had barely any development or lasting impressions, the returning characters were shoehorned in the middle of the plot without enough buildup, and the sense of urgency they had didn't feel as strong as it should be due to the not having enough breathing space to let things settle in.
I can't tell if it was the same for MMPR season 2 or 3 when they switched Zords but kept the suits, but the Cosmic Zords didn't feel connected to the Rangers or their powers. They didn't even bother to change their powers to match the Zords so it was all over the place. |

that is exactly what season 2 was. dinosaur powers that just give random mythical beast zords.
just no one over analyzes season 2 to noticed how little that makes any sense at all the t-rex become the red dragon and the pterodactyl becoming the pink phoenix are the only 2 that makes sense. as we have a triceratops becoming a unicorn and a sabertooth tiger becoming a griffin and lets not even get into the black mastodon becoming a green lion season 3 wile they got new powers that matched the new zords the suits did not change to reflect this and still had the dino themed suites and a tiger. and the tiger uses a bird - The Zyuranger suits were still popular and the overall face of the franchise, which was still in its infancy. - The Zyu2 footage bookended Season 1, and they still had plenty of it by the time Season 2 came around. The overall implication is that the footage and those Monster suits weren't cheap. - The Dairanger Kidenju were able to pad the toyline and increase sales, which was Saban's main agenda. - I came across something years ago that offered a suggestion regarding Dairanger suits. When the show became popular, imitators and knockoffs came out of the woodwork, and some of those knockoffs at Mom-and-Pop shops looked vaguely like Dairanger suits. The person who mentioned that gave no definitive answer as to whether that was an influencing reason, but it's still worth thinking about. - The transformation in every episode from Dinozord-to-Thunderzord may have seemed superfluous, but it did help remind the viewer of what's transpired and why the Zords don't echo the suits anymore. - Since Sei Shishi was for a Green Ranger, the U.S. release of the Lion Thunderzord had more black and less green for obvious reasons. - Season 3 echoes many of the points already mentioned, but it was also a time in which they were trying to do more original stuff. - Season 3 was also a time in which parental complaints started to have an effect on the show's development. Notice how the Rangers have abandoned their personal weapons and use Saba and the Blade Blasters rather sparingly. - The switch to Alien Rangers allowed them to rely on more Sentai footage for small and giant battles, but original material was still required. This is merely a short overview as to why some things were done the way they were, and I don't claim to be the greatest authority on this subject. For more on Zyu2, this essay is essential: https://www.grnrngr.com/zyu2/essay The problem is that someone in the here and now thought that the circumstances of the past would lead to success in the present. Things were different then, no matter how cliched that answer is. Success isn't easy to replicate, either. It's also possible that these nearly 30 year old discrepancies were why the show was starting to run out of steam and switched to Zeo to try and save face and toy sales. |

I don't think Hasbro tried to do it like thirty years ago. It seems to me more like they wanted to try a new direction but still keep the show cheap, which is impossible if you completely cut ties with Sentai. It even seems to me that we would have seen the Kyuranger costumes (but not all of them) if Dino Fury had not been the most popular show in PR for the last five years at least.

With season 2 and Dairanger mechs the Ranger were still assigned their personal Zords so it was easier to follow and tell which character is which. Cosmic Fury had too many Zords and very few Rangers and they would pick their Zords at random even if it doesn't match their colors.
I disagree it was very easy to tell sense to he zord being piloted picture was on the back wall. Never once was I confused on who was in what and swapping zords always felt to me something that should have been possible. Like wild force/ gaoranger but taken a step father. Who also used zords that did not match colors and also had more zords then rangers by a much larger number then cosmic fury

We've had time to make sense of these age-old discrepancies, and there are some possibilities as to why they were done back then:
- The Zyuranger suits were still popular and the overall face of the franchise, which was still in its infancy. - The Zyu2 footage bookended Season 1, and they still had plenty of it by the time Season 2 came around. Yes all out of universe reasons that cosmic fury also has but yet no one complains about mmpr 2 and 3 but instead makes excuses for them instead. Not saying one is better then the other but should be judged the same
