After several dormant years my passion for Gundam, my original love, has returned! Thanks to some generous gifts in the form of Perfect and Master Grade models of various Mobile Suits by my buddy Moonbasetom, I finally have a reason get back into Gundam.

OO was the last series and movie I viewed, though I've seen in one form or another every series that came out before it. And until this past week I'd never built one of the model kits before by the way.

So use this thread to discuss Gundam models, toys, shows, Movies, Manga, the whole spectrum. DairiderRX, get your ass in here!

Might as well join in the discussion since he's trying to get me sucked in on the franchise too. I know nothing of Gundam outside Wing (which was okay I thought) but am wanting some series recommendations. G Gundam is at the top, but more opinions other than just DaiRiderRX's would be welcome

Before Tokusatsu, hell before Transformers, my everything hobby was Gundam. It's great to feel excited about it again. G Gundam is great and it's stand alone in it's own universe. So you don't have to worry about having seen anything else before. Same goes for Wing and it's OVA.

If you want to watch a series from the original Universal Century (UC) Universe then I recommend Zeta Gundam. It's set 8 years after the events of the original Mobile Suit Gundam. It references that series alot but the narration and characters will fill you in from there. Based on how much or little information you glean from stuff mentioned there you can go back and watch the original series or the 3 OVA's that take place between it and Zeta. 08th MS Team, 0080, and 0083.

Zeta is by far my favorite Gundam series. BY FAR. Very dramatic, pretty dark, fantastic mecha designs, compelling characters.

I've watched quite a few of the series myself,and have a few models.I got interested in Gundam ever since Wing.I've seen Gundam,Stardust Memory,Wing,08th MS team,Endless Waltz,Seed,Seed Destiny,00,SD Gundam Sangokuden Brave Battle Warriors,Gunpla Builders:Beginning G,and the first season of AGE.

The Age designs haven't piqued my interest the same way that the OO designs did. Maybe that's why I fell out after OO, and it didn't help that the OO movie was one of the most awful pieces of Gundam fiction I've ever seen. Once I finish watching the rest of Unicorn I'll probably hit up Age.

On the topic of Unicorn, if you've seen at least the original Gundam, Zeta, and Char's Counterattack then it's right up your alley. Tons of references and little nods to those series with some great mecha designs. I've seen the first 2 episodes so far and loved them. Though episode is a generous term when each one is over an hour long. I think this formula is probably what would have made F91 more successful.

I've seen just about everything except for Victory most of 00 and the UC OVAs.


AGE Isn't bad, the designs are unique but it kinda falls apart by the third generation. But yeah, Gundam is perhaps my first passion outside of Toku, and something I regularly collect.

Gundam, my one true Mecha Love. Oh sure. I'll enjoy a night with Robotech/Macross, Code Geass, maybe even Orguss if I'm in the mood. But I always come home to Gundam. My first series was Gundam Wing when it first aired on Toonami and I've been hooked ever since. I've watched the original, 0080, 0083, 8th MS Team, Z, G Gundam, SEED Destiny, and Wing. And of course Gundam Wing Endless Waltz. And I've loved them all. And because as a Man you can never have to many lists..

I've only seen Turn A while playing Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2, so I can't really put that on my list. But I absolutely love the design of the thing. I also suggest everyone play DWG2, it's the best in the series and fun as holy hell.
