Yeah it takes a lot of trial and error, especially if you don't fill it out. I can share some tips on getting your measurements if you haven't looked into it yet, that goes a long way on making things easier.

Not perfect, but a frame of reference is better than a shot in the dark.

I mostly just bother people I think are cool to be my friend on Discord. YOU seem cool, if you want you can PM me your info so you can send me toku memes at 3 am or whatever.

I used to meet most of my friends through cosplaying + being in a band. Now I mostly just meet people through work. Going to neighborhood spots is nice too, but that's a lot better when you're in a neighborhood like mine (which has a lot of events and hangout places)

Well as of last night I am safely relocated to friendlier waters.

Good news: My new room is a loft.

Bad news: This house is a 75 years-old Series of Increasingly Questionable decisions that has not seen the best upkeep. Case in point: My room walls are the most garishly 1960s wallpaper mixed with diarrhea brown paint and no AC, and also the stairs up to the second floor are narrower than Hank Hill's urethra. I sincerely do not know how I'm going to get my furniture up here.
