Wherein we sing toku songs alone, but we can really belt 'em out.
So, I was thinking this might maybe be a fun thing to do. One of the things I like so much about Toku is the theme songs--they're so propulsive and energetic and really get you pumped to watch the show. (I'm sure y'all probably did this before I got here--apologies if it's too soon to do it again) Post your favourite toku songs here and, if you like, why you like it so much. I'll start with a fave of mine--the intro to Jetman. It's amazing how positive it sounds. Because man, the show sure ain't. Though "JET-OH JET-OH JET-O-MAN!" sure gets stuck in your head easily, dunnit? |

Madan Senki RyuKenDo's 1st opening. It's rather dark and mysterious sounding, reminding me of the openings from Kamen Rider Kuuga and Agito. I remember back before I saw this show, and only knew about it from this video, that it seemed really dark. And well, the show itself isn't. Which is part of why I prefer the 2nd opening over this one... But enough babbling, let's hear it!

It was a toss-up. This, or the OP from Kabuto. Which is equally good. But Anna's Switch On! Always picks up me while I sing in my very poor Japanese Plus, she kind of looks like Ahnk's long lost sister. |

Savior in the Dark, hands fucking down. I'm a total sucker for a song that has a slow build and then an explosively energetic chorus. This song just walks up to you, smiles, and then punches you in the balls with awesomeness.

Man, these are good choices. I have never heard of RyoKenDo, but it is beyond tight. I'll have to look up the second opening to compare it to the first.
"Switch On"--look, if the main character is rocking along to his own theme music, can there be any dispute of its epicness? I like that the song just breaks off at top speed and just gets faster and faster. I had not heard the Garo theme, either, but JAM Project is always welcome with me. There is nothing they can't make sound fist-pumpingly awesome, even Gravion. I just heard this one not too long ago (somehow I skipped over OOO in catching up on Kamen Rider shows) I like the driving beat and the Gothic feel to it. I also like that Ankh and Eiji are making goo goo eyes in a planetarium in the following video. That was a. . .unique artistic choice, I suppose. |

I've caught a few episodes of Makai Senki--I've quite enjoyed it. Keita Amemiya is crazy as hell, but I do enjoy the darkness he brings to these kinds of shows.
My pick for our next selection is the theme they always seemed to play in Kamen Rider W right before the Dopants were about to get owned. It's a perfect balance of rocking power and some old-school jazzy . . .well, hard-boiled-ness. I liked it so much, it's one of my ringtones: |
