There's a Banpresto statue of Espada that I've seen at my local toy stores. It looks excellent. That gold and silver paint, halo visor, and oh look at that, actual printing on the Wonder Ride Book.

It's now been 6 days so I decided to release Seihou Tiga from his slightly awkward pose on my shelf and finally start moving him and swapping out his hands. Now I have heard here that there's some copies that got it worse than others, due to different factories, maybe? So I don't know if mine was drastically bad to begin with? But if it was then leaving it for 6 days at normal room temperature just on my bookshelf has seemed to work out fine for him; the paint is dry and unmoving when I touch it and there's a couple spots here and there, mostly on his back because he did actually fall over due to a spot of bad luck during the week; but ultimately he's fine. If you are in a similar place to me, you're a big Tiga fan but don't have air conditioning and just wanted to shell out this once for a high-quality figure of one of your favourite guys and you've got a bit of patience; this should work out for you.
And he looks kinda gorgeous, I've gotta be honest! Perhaps one of the best looking figures I have, maybe the best. Was it worth all this? ... no, I really don't think so; but in the long run, at the end of the day I have ended up with a representation of one of my favourite Toku heroes who looks phenomenal and makes for a lovely centerpiece of my collection! I'm just gonna be veeery careful with his arm articulation and not even think about touching the Zeperion Beam until a third party company comes up with something.

It does look good!
But it is funny how all these precautions are leading us to handle figures less and less. And well.. it might as well be a statue. Setting a pose and leaving it on display is par for the course, but there's just something about the idea of being able to change it if we wanted. Also as someone who builds a lot of Real Grade Gundams, just seeing them on my shelf makes me think of the engineering marvel behind each of them. Perhaps when this whole rubber parts thing is perfected, we'll reach the next evolution of Figuarts. And then we can rebuy all our favorites all over again!

I'd rather companies just stop doing it in general, personally.
Rubber parts do not look good when articulated, they sometimes outright limit poseability, and they degrade over time. There's basically no upside. And yet, more and more toy companies continue to do it, and it's a shame as I've had to miss out on some figures that I'd otherwise be interested in because of it. The 1000Toys DMC5 figures, for example. I just hope this trend doesn't touch any of the ongoing lines I'm going in on, like Seihou OOO. Much as I'd love say, Aqua, Birth, etc. If they decide that rubber is the way to go over plastic and/or diecast? Yeah, no thanks. Even if joints are "ugly" atleast they function and they're reliable(most of the time).

rubber covered joints are so bad i don't get why there are people obsessed with having no noticeable joints on their figures
because rubber covered joints are by far more blatant and ugly looking than normal joints |
