Recent years, I can't recall any major complaints over quality. Either they're using sturdier material or they're stepping away form gigantic combinations that overstress particular joints & clips.
All my Kiramager stuff is holding up well and a good chunk of that line is clear plastic. |

Man, King Ohger is awesome. It feels even more playable than Oni Taijin, likely because it's smaller and more modular, with more range to the legs. I love that we're already getting a 14 bug combo Q2, and it makes me wish I had preordered the Snail and Pill Bug on HLJ. (luckily I can always get them off Amazon, though I'll wait until I have something to ship them with)
The only issue I have with him is that the arms sometimes pop off if you try and use the outward ratchets, as they're a teensy bit stronger than the sockets. Other than that this is a sweet toy and the clear clips don't feel especially brittle. Time will tell, but the materials are so high quality that I don't feel concerned. |

I was hoping I'd have the strength to not grab King Ohger, but from the pics I see on twitter and general thoughts like that, my strength of will has dried.
Probably gonna end up ordering one next paycheck

If I had to nitpick, I'd say the smaller insects/arachnids feel a bit odd. Having two spiders form the chest and pelvis is a bit odd, especially since they're obvious parts swaps, and the ladybugs being on top of the forearms and not the side sis odd. (they can attach to the sides, but only if you flip down the stag legs) But I heard someone say that these little bugs could be linkage parts for a large combo, or serve another purpose later on, which does seem likely given the obvious clip bars on the spiders. That's pretty petty stuff though and again, odds are these idiosyncrasies are future-proofing for more elaborate combinations. We know at least from the show intro that King Ohger has a more complete, armed and armoured form coming up. Other than that this feels about as close to the Sentai Mecha I've always wanted as we've ever gotten. Articulated, solid, quality build, fun combination, cool individual bots, great paint and build. I hope that this level of quality is kept up, unlike the following mecha from DonBrothers which felt like it regressed a bit after Onitaijin itself. |

I'm still not quite sold on the smaller bugs, but I can't deny that the mecha itself looks quite well designed. I'm so glad it kept the articulation.
Just from looking, the only let down is the mantis being too chunky for my liking, but that aside, it does look too good to pass up on. I am curious to see the other mecha in the line, though. While I enjoy a nice cluster combination, when your big selling point is articulation, turning a good figure into a brick isn't the wisest idea.

I wonder if reducing the size was done so that future combos aren't killing the weight balance. King Ohger's legs joints are all very large and heavy, more than they need to be for the size and combination as-is. I think they're prepared for further combinations using the Stag as a skeleton, thus avoiding the issue DonBrothers had where every subsequent fusion robbed the figure of more and more articulation.
I doubt they'll end up bricking this guy, though I do hope the secondary mecha isn't a brick as a result. I want a whole line of articulated, fun mecha toys, not just the first/main one. |

Quick question, SL. Can you attach the smaller bugs on the Mecha's forearms to the upper legs? I might have a theory about the secondary mecha coming out.

Not that I can see. They attach via the same ?rail? design as the sword. On the plus side the ladybugs and ant can attach either to the sword or arms in any direction.

Ah~. My theory kinda hinged on Ant being able to plug into the upper leg as well as the arms. Think a massive Antlion flocked by a swarm of Ants, and the Ants form armour for the Secondary Mecha.

Nah, sorry. The upper legs aren't symmetrical, one has a piece of red armour, one is the bare "frame," and there's no rails/clips there. (though there are female clip ports below the knees, so additional leg armour is possible)
