Both are good series in my eyes. Although I think you should wash down Faiz with an episode of Ryuki, as Faiz is really depressing at the beginning where Ryuki is not as much.

I don't really mind it all too much. Loving both of the series thus far! I'm 3 eps deep into Ryuki and 6 deep into Faiz as of now. Also downloaded Blade but I only watched Episode 1 so far, I think I'll hold on Blade until I finish both Ryuki and Faiz though...

Ryuki gets a lot more dark and insane and awesome come some of the later arcs so I recommend you keep with it. |

But you should watch Blade right now while watching the other two. Its the trifecta of awesome early Heisei shows. I can't advocate Blade enough because it's my favorite Rider show.
Ryuki gets a lot more dark and insane and awesome come some of the later arcs so I recommend you keep with it. Just wondering though...does Hibiki really change THAT much after the staff changes? I had contemplated watching that before I made my decision with Ryuki/Faiz then the follow-up with Blade. |

Not to worry man, I'll get to it when I'm done with Faiz and Ryuki haha! Just watching as much as I can at the moment lol.
Just wondering though...does Hibiki really change THAT much after the staff changes? I had contemplated watching that before I made my decision with Ryuki/Faiz then the follow-up with Blade. In order to explain Hibiki's change, I have to go into the history of both the writer who took over the last half of the show, Toishiki Inoue and Hibiki itself. Hibiki was envisioned as a very unique series and it shows in its first half. It focuses a lot on interpersonal problems. Inoue uses a very particular set of tropes and elements in a lot of the series he heads. In fact, Faiz, the one you are watching right now, will feature a lot of tropes that appear in Hibiki's second half. So if you don't like Faiz's tropes you're not going to like Hibiki's second half. Because Hibiki pretty much changes over to Inoue's style over its distinct and unique way of storytelling when the shift happens. |

Just finished up the Wizard net movies, which were just as good as I hoped they'd be. The Kamen Deka and Sora/Misa ones were superb, the Koyomi ones were a lot of fun (her actress is a great laugh, I wish her character was this much fun in the actual show) and the Shunpei ones were...Shunpei ones

Decade 18.
What the hell is Natsumi wearing? I mean Jesus girl I'm not complaining but wearing nothing but underwear and a shirt and leaving most of the buttons undone is an...interesting style choice. God this episode was infuriating, DOU SHISHISHI SHOU ONGEKI DOKI RYUUU ZANNKI PATATATATOBATATOBATATOBATOTOBA ZYRUUUUN. I seriously didn't understand what they were actually talking about for about ninety percent of this episode. Three schools, three scrolls? And a whole lot of Japanese words which mean nothing to me, an English speaker. If nothing else, this show makes me fall in love with powers from shows I've either never seen or simply don't like. I came out from this really wanting one of those redone Kabuto's and wanting to watch a bunch more Hibiki - although wow Hibiki has some naff looking monsters. Kaito's touching little sequence with the Oni in training made me realise how shit a character Kaito is. Like why is he...here? He was in the background for pretty much the entire of his own introduction arc and since then he's had vague motivations and an even vaguer moral compass and just sorta swags in and out at random points in the episodes, never achieving anything. I dunno why they didn't just cut him out and use Kuuga more. Also how do his powers even work? I didn't realise he summoned the ACTUAL Riders, why would Momo even fight for Kaito? I thought he and Tsukasa were friends.

Decade 19. The taking down of that crab thing was gloriously silly.
I don't really know anything about Hibiki, so I found the rushed nature of this arc perhaps more frustrating than any other because learning about this show - even through an AU - was something I was super excited for. From the rival schools, to monster trumpet players to the classic Rider story of becoming the enemy to defeat the enemy this could have easily made a great show. As a two act arc though, it left a lot to be desired.
