Sorry, I didn't think it would be that contentious.

Ah, I didn't mean to make it sound like it's a big problem or anything! Just that I think confusion would be natural because that's not likely to be anyone's first thought at what 'filler' implies. Sorry if I made it sound otherwise!

While the literal definition of "filler episode" is

Personally, I consider a "filler episode" to be any episode you can remove from the series without impacting the overall plot. This does not apply to this episode of Donbrothers. If you were to skip this episode, you'd miss out on Haruka, Shinichi and Tsuyoshi finding out each others identities, details about Jins situation, his first meeting with the Noto and the reveal of Miho as a Juuto. The main plot might seem like a goofy filler plot, but it's actually the build up to the identity reveal |

Maybe the new beastials are like kabuto worm where the detective and kijino housewife is being replaced and confused about their memories. Who knows. Inoue isn’t good a paying off given his track record in the past.

I thought the CGI scene with Sayama running after Inuzuka's bike was pretty humorous!
Nice to have confirmation from Kitou that she really didn't bother to remember Kijibrother's identity. It fits with the more selfish side of her personality, that she would've only concerned herself with finding Momoi Tarou at that time. Shurikenki has my favorite Hitotsuki design so far. Sure, I'm totally biased cause he's a ninja, but like, he has a projectile shuriken hat! That's awesome! Looks like the terms of being a Donbrother are a little flexible, since the system exempts Inuzuka due to his temporary illness and Saruhara and Kitou are able to "go AFK" when they need to deal with a real life problem. I enjoy the presence of the video game motif here. Poor Kijino though, he keeps getting plugged in and out at unfortunate moments, although he might be reaping the bad karma from Episode 8. Don Momotarou seems to have a leader complex, like he feels like his authority is threatened by Inubrother barking orders (haha, get it?) and being referred to as a companion. This continues to show that Tarou is a hypocrite who doesn't like being overshadowed. Maybe he'll get development for this later. I'm curious about what the reveal of Miho being a Jyuto means, but how that might be relevant to Natsumi, what exactly are the Jyuto, I don't feel like I know enough information to speculate. It's probably going to be a source of distress for Kijino though, if he ends up having to fight Miho. Quote:
(There's also something weirdly dorky about the whole "Change Off" thing that's introduced here, which I thought only made everything funnier. Like, having a specific callout for that would seem unnecessary for even the most traditional of toku heroes, which only makes it seem even sillier to see characters in Donbrothers doing it.)

It's kind of new for Sentai, but PR has the "Power Down" command which has the same effect. I haven't seen anybody claim that's silly or superfluous, so I'm not sure why Donbrothers doing it would make you feel differently, when that's just another thing that kids can emulate when ejecting their DX Avatarou Gear from the DX Donblaster. Also this episode slapped just like the rest of Donbrothers, when I watched this on monday I was howling about how Haruka was willing to murder the shit out of a sick man

I think Fish means that they have a whole power down command when that wasn't a thing for the last 45 seasons. Idk, like, if I were writing this and I was told to have a power down command, I'd have a different story about a ranger getting stuck in Ranger mode for not being able to power down.
Like yeah, the command can be used to comedic or dramatic effect depending on the scenario. But its use in this episode of Donbrothers seems pretty normal, despite being the first time we've seen them do that. I just wanted to point out that this isn't totally out there or weird, just something that Sentai haven't done before. Kamen Rider Kabuto also had the "Put On" command to undo "Cast Off". Haha, yeah, there are times when Kitou deserves to get kicked and times when she doesn't. This was definitely the former!

- I find it silly these comically atypical heroes are so concerned about the etiquette of saying the proper catchphrase even when they're in a big hurry - I find it silly that the show abruptly introduced the notion there even is a catchphrase for that 11 episodes in when we've seen them undo their transformations with no particular fanfare before - I find it silly that the show introduces this super tokusatsu-y catchphrase, the kind that usually exists to make an action seem cooler, and then has the visual for it just be the Gears limply flopping out of the DonBlasters with an underwhelming sound effect. <-This one might be the biggest reason I found it funny. Crucially, I also get the feeling from all of the above that the show was trying to play it as a silly moment. But yeah, I definitely overstated it a bit by acting like that's not a thing any toku hero would or should ever have period. (Although I've always thought "Put On" was sort of silly too, incidentally.) I like the point about this being a thing the kids at home can mimic, by the way! That's a really sweet way to think of it!
