Just saw episode. These Suits are just STUPID.
I don?t get it, Gotchard was absolutely abysmal and terribly acted piece of dogcrap , but had no question GREAT looking, very well designed and cool looking suits?. Gavv suits are exactly the opposite of ?cool? just plain GOOFY. I hate that I am too embarrassed to watch this with my Wife or show this to non-Toku friends without getting ridiculed hardcore. Suits so silly and childish that it takes me out of my already suspended belief ! But great acting and storytelling so far, just straight Pre-School vibes from these fugly as hell suits

I laughed out loud at the fountain scene. Just WTF in the best way possible.
The action was great too; we had a great little switch through multiple forms, love when they do that. Plus I haven't actually seen the Buche de Noel-form before, what a wonderful weird suit. Interesting that we're getting a bit into how Granutes attacked humans in the past, so human abduction really was a regular thing even before the next generation of Stomach took over, that's awful. But Hanto's mom is totally out there somewhere still. Quote:

I believe that the discussion of costumes will take a new turn in the next episode, after the debut of the cake form. In the meantime, I can only quote myself from the discussion of the last episode:
Quote:
I actually wanted to wait until halfway through the show to talk about costumes, but now that we're on the subject. I don't find them visually outstanding. Gavv's shapes don't implement the ridiculous concept of cool like Gaim, and they're not as recognizable and unique as Ex-Aid. That is, you can easily draw a fan rider in the style of Ex-Aid and everyone will unmistakably understand that this is a rider from Ex-Aid. But with Gavv this is very problematic.
Its forms are united by a unique food theme rather than a style of execution. Even such a thing as a belt in the shape of a big red mouth in the show itself turns out to be extremely inconspicuous and is only noticed when attention is deliberately focused on it. But even if the forms of Gavv do not please my eye, this drawback is completely outweighed by their technicality. Crushing armor, fragile swords, springy marshmallows and much, much more. The attention to detail and how they work is simply amazing. I think that instead of going by the principle: “How can we make the audience fall in love with a ridiculous concept?” The creators of this show took the path: “How can we extract maximum potential from a ridiculous concept?” And this is actually part of their already repeatedly mentioned respect and understanding of the essence of Kamen Rider. After all, it may not be obvious after 53 years, but a grasshopper-themed superhero is also quite ridiculous. But, despite this, it works great and has surpassed many, at first glance, much more promising ideas. ![]() |

I don't even post in these threads right now (Gavv's pretty good btw) but I have to because you my good sir are not insulting Kamen Rider Kancolle and getting away with it.
Of all the designs you could've used, Bang Bang Simulations? Really? There's other suits that are absolutely lower on the totem pole. |

Perhaps, but the majority are still higher. Plus, сonsidering Snipe's attitude towards games, he probably thinks his costume is ugly himself.

Of all the very, very smart things Gavv has been doing, tying the Gochizo directly to the kindness Shouma receives from others is ~probably~ the most smart? Because, thinking back, it's almost *always* been that way, right? Even those very first gummies were a gift from someone.
At the time, I'd interpreted it as a kind of hint about the nature of his abilities. I'd interpreted it as meaning Gavv isn't just a food Rider, he's a *junk* food Rider; he doesn't get powers from relatively nutritious food. I re-watched the scene after reading your comment, though, and it establishes he'd actually purchased the sushi using his wages. That'd be consistent with your observation, here, and begs the question: would he start producing sashimi Gochizos if a friend fed him home-cooked sushi? I'm curious to see whether future Gavv forms continue with junk food. (I'd've called it sweets if not for ZakuZaku and HiriHiri chips.) I think I'd be a bit disappointed if, ultimately, Gavv's most powerful forms end up coming from nutritious food, even though that's the direction I'd expect a children's show to take. Unrelated: I'll chime in that I love the suits, and didn't much care for Gotchard's. I can't tell whether that's a result of leftover Gaim fondness on my part. (I also never quite got over my disappointment that the show drifted away from fruit weaponry when the New Generation Riders debuted. We never got the cherry, peach, lemon, and melon weapons we deserved.) Gavv is going hard on these junk-food forms and I'm LIVING for the cognitive dissonance between the whimsy of the suits and the show's more visceral-than-usual violence. |

Well, considering the twist borrowed from Faiz with the kaijin wolf, Gaim is the second expected source of inspiration. Although I still hope that Gavv at least uses candied fruits. Or jam, it?s definitely worth coming up with something with it.

Ooh, I like the jam idea. The gochizou could be a jar shape.
