That's a great one! I think we might use that, but I want to hear a couple more.

I was thinking of the name Henry or Barnum. Barnum Brown found the first T. rex fossil and Henry Osborn named the the T. rex.

I think the name Ray would be good for a Japanese American character since the name Ray can also be spelled Rei, both of which are American and Japanese names respectively.

I dunno what it is about the name Jun, but I was thinking that from the start, too. PsychoRanger's original pitch was "Junoichi Kaseki" and I think that works really well.
Maybe Rex could be his nickname? That's what he goes by? Say his father was American and his mother Japanese, he was born in Japan, but grew up in America. I knew a couple of American-Asian kids at my school who had socially "weird" or "foreign" names so they just went by nicknames to make things easier. Instead of the obvious "Joe" or "Joey" he goes by Rex instead. Perhaps from a character building perspective, that's a nickname his father gave him or something. Kaseki Junoichi is his birthname, close friends and family call him Jun, he introduces himself "Rex Kaseki" to everyone else. That gets my vote. |

I don't really want to do a poll for the name, so I just want to know what name people like best: Ray, Henry, or Rex

If those are the three options, then Rex it is for me. But again, that just seems reeeeally nickname-y to me. I feel he should have a more realistic birth name and there are already 3 votes for "Jun" or "Junoichi." Seems like a decent compromise to me. |

Or, youknow. His mother could BE a paleontologist. For my backstory idea to work - and I'll get into more detail later - both of his parents are paleontologists. I suppose it doesn't matter which of the two is Japanese.
