Count The Eyecons!
To date, Takeru has gathered nine Heroic Eyecons. Makoto has obtained three and Alain has stolen two. That leaves ONE hero's spirit still waiting... As always you can view this episode via live stream on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts.
Live Streams of the Superhero Time block start at 6:30 PM Eastern Standard Time on Saturdays. |

Huh. Really thought Sanzo would be in this one. Oh well.
Kind of a...filler-ish feeling episode, a bit. I guess they're trying to flesh out Onari and Akari, but...like, who cares. At least the Himiko Damashii is pretty neat. I like the smooth fighting style. |

It's probably a combination of Akari and Onari being at the forefront, the episode having a now tired collect-the-Eyecon subplot, and the Necrom Specter thing happening pretty early in the episode but not having payoff later that made it kind of feel like filler (it can feel like it and not be, is all I'm saying). Or I guess maybe I felt like there was fairly little Rider action (just the brief fight between Necrom and Specter at the beginning and the final fight) and I subconsciously measure plot relevance in terms of dudes in suits fighting. That seems likely, now that I think about it. |

Fair enough. Although, this being the FINAL Eyecon in the 15 hunt, it did feel a little bit more monumental to me than the average collection episode.

Makoto under Aran's possession after Aran insert his Necrom Eyecon to Makoto's belt.
Hmm..I am really love Akari's research and she uses her research to defeat Ganma. And Onari has bravely to defeat Ganma but his back bone broken after avoid Knife Ganma shoot. Hmm...it seems Knife Ganma's Historical Figure based from Jack The Ripper. Hmmm....this episode has the Matrix reference.... Ghost Himiko's fighting style looks elegants.... I think Igor similar with Isaka (Weather Dopant) from Kamen Rider W. Hmm...Newton escape from Takeru....interesting. Last edited by Blade Fang; 02-10-2016 at 06:44 PM.. |

Man Onari is just the worst. I am so sick of him. I think watching Wizard has really made me appreciate just how awful this supporting cast can be. Shunpei and friends aren't the best, but compared to this overacting fucker, they're god damn artists.
The knife Ganma could have taken initiative a bit and sliced off his head and very little would have been lost. What could have been. That being said, rewatching the episode I retract my earlier statement that it was sort of a fillerish episode. It had substance. I just don't care for this substance very much, I guess. The things Igor were saying were interesting, I guess. Himiko is still a cool form with a very cool fighting style. Pink being pink, however, I doubt we'll see this Damashii used very much, which is a shame. Then again...Ghost's Damashii, rarely used, practically synonymous phrases really. |

I really think the enjoyment of Onari's antics really makes or breaks this show. Personally, I certainly like him more than Shunpei. Shun was a boring character and useless on top of being annoying. Furthermore he was completely unnecessary even within the reality of the show.
Onari has a more important connection to Takeru and a deeper obligation to the situation at hand. Plus, while his enthusiasm and mugging can be extremely over the top, at the very least he's usually genuinely helping in some way and legitimately proving himself as somewhat of an asset to the team. Not to mention, despite this side of himself being unfortunately seldom, it's clear he has been a great friend, guide, and some kind of mentor to Takeru for most of their lives. I could do without the overacted silly faces in every episode, but I don't find him much more grating than most of the SCU team in Drive was around this point in the show. Maybe I'm just more tolerant but if nothing else his gung-ho devotion can be charming to me, and the once or twice he's ever been serious and emotionally helpful I've tended to like him a lot. |

Earlier in the season what you're saying was pretty much exactly my opinion on him too. Because you're right that he is not useless and he does on occasion show a more nuanced side.
The longer the show goes on though, these facts only serve to make things worse for me. Because I feel like I'd really like Onari if he would just shut up and calm down a little. We've seen that he can kind of be better, so the fact that disproportionately we're being subjected to the buffoon makes it all even worse. It's frustrating, I think maybe even more than it would be if he was an idiot around the clock. A bigger issue is maybe, the actor just isn't very good. There are ways to play humorous characters right, but this guy is simply too over the top. There's a lot riding on the delivery, and hid has just lost all charm to me by this point. Well I’ll be damned, another decent to good-ish episode! Please keep it up guys.
The setup was cheap, but it worked. I enjoyed the crazy girl and I like that they used the "possessed by an Eyecon"-thing again. It worked well with Ryoma and it worked well here. She had her Onari-like moments but since she’s a one-off character I can forgive that. Igor seems to be interesting, at least more than Javel, and the Jack the Ripper Ganma actually looked cool, I dig his design. Then we had some (tiny) development for Onari (Finally!) and a few good scenes with Akari as well. And yeah, as much as I don’t like Onari, I laughed at the Matrix parody-part. That was well done, because for one it was generally funny and Onari had a serious moment of actually kicking a Ganma’s butt which made me appreciate him a bit more. The Himiko-Ghost looks kinda cool, and like Goemon the form actually has a unique way of fighting. Yeah some other Eyecons had it as well, but it was never as well done as it is with Goemon and Himiko IMO since with the other Eyecons it’s mostly about using the unique weapon of the form. And Necrom hijacking Specter is an interesting turn, hopefully they don’t use it as a base for the next 5 episodes. Also: Takeru questioning if the Ganma are actually right with their world being free of war and all, even though we already know that’s not the case and they most likely only achieved piece through tyranny and no Ganma is allowed to live as an individual and stuff like that. Still nice to see the main character struggling with that a bit. So yeah, surprisingly fun episode, I enjoyed it, please keep it up! |
