Spidey is back in the MCU. News broke Friday morning that Disney and Sony made a deal that Disney will contribute 25% of the financing to the third Tom Holland film and receive 25% of the profits from the box office. Spider-Man can also make a single appearance in a phase 4 film. Sony is also allowed to use Tom Holland's Spider-Man in their cinematic Spiderverse film starting with Venom 2. A lot of people are mistaking this as a finale for the MCU Spider-Man but it's actually just the start of a sharing arrangement between Disney and Sony.

Anyone read the recent Jonathan Hickman X-Men books?

YES. Holy shit, they were amazing. Maybe the best that franchise has been since the Morrison New X-Men stuff. Maybe, honestly, the best they've ever been? Mind-blowing stuff, easily the best superhero comics on the stands for the last few months.

Deadpool 3 has been confirmed to be rated R by Disney. Ryan Reynolds has met with Marvel Studios to pitch the story and awaiting the eventual green light. Rumor has it that Spider-Man and Deadpool will meet somewhere in phase 4 or 5.

I want stand alone Deadpool to be R rated, but still have him up show in other PG-13 movies for crossovers. There's a lot of jokes that you could do with him in the MCU like:
"I forgot that I can't say that because this is a family movie" "If this movie is PG-13, I can say Fuck at least once right?....Oh shit" "Oh hi Hulk, are you mad that you can't get another solo movie?"

Absolutely. Seriously, I think House of X and Powers of X is probably the best point to drop back in if a person has not been reading X-Men comics for a while. Probably the best setup/kind-of-a-reboot since DC Rebirth. Hickman definitely should get an Eisner for what he did.

I love how it's not really a reboot, though. In fact, it leverages, in broad strokes, a lot of what other writers did with the franchise to motivate what Hickman's doing. But, yeah, it still feels totally fresh, while exciting a TON of lapsed fans. I'm expecting a bunch of newly-returned X-Men fans to be giving non-fans the HoX/PoX hardcover as a holiday gift this year. The craziest thing to keep in mind is that HoX and Pox were the start of the story Hickman's telling. The start. Where the hell could he possibly be going with this?!

I run a comics shop and, yep, HoX and PoX are outstanding re-entry points. We're selling about 6x what we were selling for Uncanny X-Men earlier this year. It's huge. People who haven't bought comics (X-Men or otherwise) in 2, 10, 20 years are back every week for a new X-Men chapter. Folks that wrote off the X-Men, now they're all in. A fresh start for them.
