It just keeps getting more and more interesting. I have to admit.

GoreGolem is a rather interesting Kaijuu. Being a quadraped and having the ability to slip between dimensions makes it rather unique. Seing Nexus struggle due to fact Jun is human and even he has limits is a nice touch. And I loved how they shot down Negoro printing the pictures by having other papers have front page false stories. With how the effects can be at times, no wonder the in universe people could think the pictures were fake . Oh, and the blatant flashing of the 128 MB SD card made me smirk inwardly because nowadays you can't find those anymore and 8 GB cards are dirt cheap when back in those days 2 GB costed about as much as 64 GB these days.

With Jun's situation I guess it's time for a new Nexus.
Poor Negoro, all that effort for nothing... |

I think they started to realize how much people didn't like the characters, because aside from the characters simply being there and blowing things up, there was virtually nothing that happened involving any of the main characters, there was more acting from the idol and her photographers than anyone else. And I just groaned about them capturing Jun, it either means he's going to die (for real, he's alive in the preview for the next episode) or he's going to almost die and in the process get a new power, which is a cop out to me for getting a new nexus or giving him some new powers.

Watched these episodes over the weekend. It's nice to finally see the Night Raiders working alongside Ultraman finally, even though there's still something going on with the Illustrator (or L as I'm always calling him). GoreGolem is a pretty nasty beast, as Space Godzilla taught us anything with crystals sticking out of its back is bad news
Very eager to see what's going to become of Jun now.

I've been watching abit a head, I know I'm cheating, and so I'm finally getting around to posting thoughts.
The Delta seemed like a ploy to sell an extra toy but I do like it. It's at least more aerodynamic than some of the other Chesters. Goregolem is a wicked Beast but I think it illustrates, among many other reasons, why this show did so poorly with kids. The hero is always losing. Like all the time. Nexus seems to fight nothing but uphill battles every week often while recovering from injuries sustained in the previous week. Kids like to see a hero win and do it well, Nexus struggles for his victories and when he finally has them they're almost always bitter sweet. I like that aspect of it, the imperfect hero, but even I like to see the hero just be a heroic badass on occasion.

Okay, I'm getting caught up. I haven't finished 21 yet, but I am up through 20.
First of all, did Darth Jabi really just hold her fire out of concern for hitting civilians? It's like I don't even know her anymore. Second, more and more I'm starting to get a serious Agito vibe from this show. TLT is reminding me a lot of Agito's police force in their open hostility towards the hero, lack of concern for the innocent, and general assholishness. Even if Toshiki Inoue had nothing to do with this series, it's pretty clear what other tokusatsus it was using for inspiration. Try watching Max, it's a much more conventional Ultraman show with likable heroes who are good people and an Ultraman that's actually very effective. I'm pretty sure Max would've hit Golgolem with the Max Galaxy and then blasted into smithereens within five minutes. Last edited by Switchblade; 08-20-2013 at 02:02 PM.. |
