Always heard the "Saban finds Sentai while flipping channels in a Japanese Hotel Room" story, and how he wanted to port it over for years before he eventually succeeded in making a deal with Toei. Nothing new there.

What is shocking is how close he may have gotten back in the '80s or early '90s, cause there apparently is an all-but-lost "Bio-Man" Version! Many of the names are similar to the inevitable Mighty Morphin' characters, and there's also a mock-up of Peebo in new footage.

I already knew that the editors snuck in some Bioman footage on the Viewscreen in the original Pre-Thuy Trang Pilot, indicating that Bioman was probably the original intent and may very well have been what Saban originally saw.

What I didn't realize is that original footage with hired actors got as far as it did (even if the theoretical pilot wasn't picked up).

Wouldn't mind learning a little more about the lost "Bio-Man".

If alternate reality traversing technology ever exists I'm going to one where Bioman was the first MMPR. Freakin' Mark Dacascos as the Red Ranger? Let's effin' go.

Is that the name of the actor playing "Victor Lee" in the failed pilot? Must of done something significant to warrant some degree of appeal.

P.S.: If this is a Pre-Mighty Morphin' Pilot, why is there a "Billy Cranston" at all!? Wasn't the surname added to Billy after Bryan Cranston did some VO work in Season 1 as Snizzard and Twin Man?

Yeah, he was in the live action adaptation of Crying Freeman and Double Dragon, was Eubulon in Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight, and he can be found in John Wick 3. He was also a major villain in the 2010s reboot of Hawaii Five-O iirc. And he was the host of Iron Chef America.

As for the Cranston thing, that's what I thought too. Maybe they happened to have it as Cranston but when Bryan Cranston became a part of the show they decided to make it official thinking what a coincidence.

To be honest, for me Dacascos is much more famous than Bryan Cranston, who only became recognizable to me after ?Breaking Bad,? although I had previously watched Malcolm in the Middle. And Dacascos, in addition to everything described by Sundred, also played the main role in the series Crow.

Continuing with the Pre-P.R. discussion, but straying from the "Bio-Man" oddity this time, I saw something interesting that MIGHT relate to Rita and Zedd's favorite minion.

One of the undeveloped toy lines of the '80s was known in development as the "Mysterians". There's a somewhat complex relationship with Transformers and Marvel which might suggest that some of the '84 Minicars originated not from Takara, but from Knickerbocker in the U.S.!

The reason I bring it up is because the initial toys and the kinda sorta good guys were going to be called "Tinkar, Seekar, and....GOLDAR"!

This could be a cosmic coincidence, but the industry being what it is makes that less than likely. This isn't the first time a parallel of this nature has happened between P.R. and another franchise. The name "Ninjor" was used for "Masters of the Universe". It's possible, but not definite, that because Mysterians failed, then the trademark went lax and someone who had prior knowledge of the franchise swooped in and swiped the name up.

The irony, of course, is how the P.R. Goldar was originally called "Dredwing" in the pilot... and that too is one letter off from being a Transformers reference!

I can't conclusively say with any certainty that the "Goldar" of the Mysterians line was the basis for the inevitable and iconic Mighty Morphin' Villain, but it would be an interesting tidbit to say the least if true.

Yeah when I noticed you will be a megazord, I thought alright now it's not a casual beat em up cash grab.

Though I hope they have updates to where you can play as other ranger groups and changing the battleground of fights.

- Like In Space actually is, in space
- LightSpeed defending Mariner bay
- Ninja Storm stopping the academy invasion

Because if they don't I bet a rom hack for it comes out, it's style is nice. Surprised they didn't go bright colors, or maybe I'm influenced by how vibrant Shredders Revenge for TMNT is.

It's not Power Rangers by name, but Chroma Squad is a very fun strategy game and a tribute to sentai and tokusatsu in general, although it may be a bit too "meta" for some peoples' taste as the story is about a group of stunt actors making a toku show until the evil force they're fighting turns out to be real
