Kiramager Episodes 31-33
31: A cute, really well done episode about kids being allowed to be children, and how they should feel okay expressing their own wants and needs to their parents! All communicated through the medium of blatant shilling for the DX toys. I love tokusatsu sometimes. 32-33: And in complete contrast to that, we have the big mid-season battle against Garza'a grand plan. And it's a good pair - starting out small stakes with "Sayo on a date" is a nice lead-in, although the time spent on Riddler Marrsk could be better served elsewhere, and everyone immediately jumping to "If Sayo gets married how will she be a Kiramager?" is a little annoying, but the drama more than makes up for it. Plus, Sayo is apparently a master surgeon, and an expert at gene therapy, as well as the tech for said gene therapy. Hiiro Kagami wishes he was that good. And then 33 comes, and it's all big action sequences, surprise reveals, and a pretty clever plan from Juuru to save the day (also proof I need to stop spacing this show out so much, I completly forgot where the shark robot came from). Overall, a very fun little set of episodes, see you in six months for the next batch. |

Currently up to episode 26 on my Boukenger re-watch which happened to be one of my favorite episodes for this series and I got to say, some of the show’s previous episodes are surprisingly much better than I remembered from the first time I watched them.

I'm watching Kyo Ryu - Zen Kai currently when I'm not watching either Trans Formers Generation I or 1990s Pretty Soldier Sailor Moon. Ryu Soul completed in this group BTW. My sets are in great shape considering. Saban and Hasbro have skipped 4 of them (To Qu , Zyu Oh , Kyu and Lu Pat.) Go Busters has now been adapted by Hasbro.

After 6 months of absence, we’re going to full power full force return to…
Androzani’s Tsukai Detour Black Kaito: ‘Full power full force?’ Sounds dumb. That aside, it’s time to move onto this review of… Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger vs Kiramager vs Sempaiger (Disclaimer: the following review will make heavy use of quotes. All names have been changed to protect the fact I did not ask permission to use any of them, nor do I remember them perfectly. In one case, I even conflate two separate conversations into one. Though who they are should be obvious by the names I choose, as all of the people are on this forum). First off, let’s get to both an explanation of Zenkaiger and its characters, followed by a recap of the returning characters, since it?s been a while. “It happened without warning. Countless worlds found themselves trapped within small machines, unable to resist. And the last world to be targeted is...” Zenkaigers Kaito Goshikida/Zenkaizer: Kaito Goshikida was born on December 12, 2000 to the couple, Isao and Mitsuko Goshikida. His parents created Secchan as his robotic companion when he was a young kid. Soon after the creation of Secchan, his parents went missing during their research involving parallel worlds. Since then, he has been living with his grandmother Yatsude. In 2021, after Kaito's world merges with Kikaitopia, he along with the other humans welcome the Kikainoids with open arms. A month later, when the Tozitend appeared to subjugate their world, he was one of the only people to stand up to them. Kaito wants to be the number one at everything. He is usually easygoing, but when his interest is triggered, he becomes hot-headed and excited. His ideas are very wacky but creative, as seen when attempting to bungee jump from the Tokyo Sky Tree with unlicensed equipment or whenever he makes a plan against the attacking Wald at the time. He is a brave and daring man, as he did not hesitate to step in and oppose the evil invaders who were threatening his world, even when unarmed, outnumbered, and overpowered. When he was handed the Geartlinger and Sentai Gears, Kaito declared his desire of protecting the world with no hesitation. He is also very moral, looking down on cruel behaviours with good intentions, even against a Wald. Despite his own eccentricities, he exhibits great friendliness, level-headedness, and sense of sympathy. He welcomed the quirks of his friends with open arms even before they became the Zenkaigers, and opted to look at the good one does before the bad. During the initial invasion of the Tozitend, he did not discriminate against Juran due to just being a Kikainoid, but instead, he focused on the good he did instead. In addition to that, Kaito had demonstrated that he can be a very perceptive person whenever the situation requires him to do so. For example, when Stacey (Actually God who is secretly controlling Stacey's body) had showed up and announced his intention to destroy the Tozitend as well as join him and his team, Kaito had correctly denounced "Stacey" as an impostor due to Kaito himself being able to identify several key personality traits which had been frequently displayed by the "Real" Stacey during Kaito's previous encounters with Stacey that not even God himself was able to imitate even though God had access to Stacy's memories which would have allowed him to easily fool Kaito and his friends. Juran/Zenkai Juran: Juran was one of the Kikainoids who were mysteriously transported to Earth one month ago. As the Kikainoids quickly integrated with humans, he also tried his best to get in with them. When Tozitend launched an invasion on Earth and terrorized its inhabitants, Juran engaged them and saved a kid. Witnessing his kindness, Kaito gave him a Geartlinger, which allowed him to transform into Zenkai Juran. After the first battle, Juran came to take shelter at Yatsude's shop. Juran thinks of himself as calm and reserved, but in reality he is an annoyingly stubborn Kikainoid. He loves parties and being the center of attention. He easily makes friends, especially Kaito. Despite this, he took a bit longer to get along with Gaon, as the two of them constantly bickered during their first meeting. Due to his party-loving nature, he often dances to the Geartlinger's music. Juran often serves as Kaito's mentor about the Tozitend empire, having lived under its oppressive ways for several years. He is, however, rather slack, primarily due to his laid-back nature. Juran is also one for hanging around children, and will play with them when allowed the chance. This extends to playing with a young Magine and protecting a human child from an attacking Kudakku. Gaon/Zenkai Gaon: Gaon was one of the many Kikainoids who were mysteriously transported to Earth. About one month after arriving on Earth, he and many other Kikainoids and Humans suddenly discovered mushrooms growing on their heads. When the Zenkaigers appeared in the public to recruit new members, Gaon was present among the crowd. Although he grew fond of Kaito and wanted to befriend him, he hesitated to join their cause as he did not want to fight. However, he changed his mind when Kinoko Wald caused the mushrooms on his head (and everyone else's) to release poisonous spores and harm the little animals he was admiring. Angered, Gaon decided to join the Zenkaigers and received a Geartlinger. Gaon is a peaceful Kikainoid who loves to admire and befriend organic creatures (primarily cats and dogs), including humans. He dislikes Kikainoids and hates being one himself, as he considers machines to be hard, bulky and cold to the touch, which is why he mostly avoids to socialize and interact with them. In particular, he is disgusted by the cruel acts of the Tozitend Dynasty's dictatorship. His loathing for mechanical lifeforms extends to non-Kikainoids such as Secchan, a robotic bird. Due to this Gaon can be a handful, as he and Juran constantly argued during their first meeting, and continue to do so afterwards. Furthering this, he also snapped quickly at newer members Vroon and Magine before they officially joined the team. When he eventually joined the Zenkaigers, he compromised his loathing of mechanical beings, as he wanted to protect the humans and animals being tormented by the Tozitend. His admiration for biological beings hampers his fighting at points and can interfere with the team, as he will even protect those he thinks are human no matter what side they are on, such as Stacey and his summoned Rangers who Gaon believed were human as well. Gaon was only able to fight the false Rangers since Kaito and him concluded they were fakes. Gaon is less than hesitant about shooting Kikainoids, however, as he willingly shot an affected Vroon to let Kaito escape. Being a cook, he is very meticulous when it comes to preparing meals for the Goshikidas, though he dismisses any Kikainoid who tries and enjoys his dishes. Magine/Zenkai Magine: The only girl (well, female mechanical lifeform) of the team. Magine was one of the Kikainoids who were mysteriously transported to Earth. Nervously making her way across town, Magine followed a fortune and ended up being bowled over by the Zenkaigers, who had recently slipped due to Kouri Wald making the town streets a traction nightmare by freezing them. To Magine's surprise, the group included Juran, and she tearfully greeted him once more as the 4 made their way to Colorful, where they exchanged introductions. Although she refused to join the team, Magine attempted to find Kouri Wald using her fortune-telling skills, though to Gaon's growing frustrations, the predictions were flops every single time, and after an outburst Magine began doubting herself until the group was pointed towards a wharf. Eventually deciding to take a stand, Magine asked to join the Zenkaigers and became Zenkai Magine for the first time (while almost shooting herself in the face with her Geartlinger). With her help, Kouri Wald was decimated, and her new MagineDragon form helps seal the deal with Dai Kouri Wald. Magine moved in with the other Zenkaigers afterwards, using her fortune-telling skills to lead the others towards the last Zenkaiger. Magine is reserved and shy. She loves magic and the occult, and can become a true otaku about it when she is in the moment. She expresses herself through her fortune-telling, even if not correct most of the time. While very nervous, she relies on her fortune telling to give her the push she needs. However, she is very clumsy, as shown when she almost shot herself with her Geartlinger and making her messes worse through trying to clean them up. Despite this clumsiness, she is very good at rummaging through trash to find objects of interest. While known for being a shrinking violet, she will angrily snap when pushed to her limit. She does not tolerate if someone degrades fortune telling within an earshot, and will fervently scold the perpetrator. She will also not tolerate her friends being insulted right in front of her, and she will also snap when pushed to her physical extremes (i.e. not sleeping for too long). Magine has quirky sense of humor, shown when she performs action comedy through random objects and roleplay. She has a verbal tic of "nu-nu-nu" she strings to the end of her sentences, usually in her bouts of nervousness. She also chants this when casting spells. Vroon/Zenkai Vroon: A Constantly Curious Kikainoid who?s also a Neat Freak because of his previous profession of a garbageman. He initially served the Tozitend as their janitor before he became a Zenkaiger after becoming fed up with Ijirude?s treatment of him. Classy and a bit dandy, Vroon has a burning and almost uncontrollable curiosity for knowledge, and will go to certain lengths such as joining the Tozitend to attain such knowledge. He also has a penchant for cleaning up, as seen by his two previous jobs in Kikaitopia. Because of this, Vroon has a neat freak's mindset, and impulsively cleans up whenever he sees a mess. He also strictly reprimands those with sloppier cleaning ethics, particularly Magine's poor clean ups. This leaves him coming off as blunt and rude, though he apologizes whenever he realizes his behavior. He has a bad habit of being easily distracted by his surroundings and asking too many questions in rapid succession, often earning him scorn from his peers. During his time as the Tozitend janitor, the higher ups simply attacked him when he got too annoying. Due to his frantic curiosity, removing his glasses works to distract him. Vroon is also much clumsier than his companions, often falling out of sync and tripping constantly whenever he moves with or near them. While clumsy and rather cowardly, after being reached out to by Kaito he grew to stand up for himself more and eventually fight as a Zenkaiger. He usually hangs out at a library and peruses through its books, so much so that he got his own section dedicated to books he recommends. Like Magine, he has a verbal tic, using the tic "vroon" to describe his curiosity when it fires up. He shares Juran?s role in telling Kaito about the Tozitend Dynasty, though as a former member himself, Vroon?s knowledge is more intimate. As a result of his Tozitend servitude, Vroon often speaks in a semi-formal manner. Kiramagers: Juru Atsuta/KiramaiRed: The Creative Warrior. A happy-go-lucky Eccentric Artist and Ordinary High-School Student who was chosen by Mashin Fire to be his partner. While the youngest of the bunch, he was picked to be The Leader due to his high Kiramental, which allows him to bring any of his creations to life so long as he has the vision to do so. Naive and the new kid on the block during the Dark Empire Yodonheim invasion, Juru was infamous for his tendency to draw no matter the crisis, having gotten close to the Kiramagers in combat just to draw them in battle. He is also easily distracted by his hobby, often getting him in trouble at school, though he can draw extremely realistic pictures when he feels the need, while also being impressively quick and adaptive. Despite this, he knows when to take responsibility and when to take charge, even when he was unsure of his new position as leader of the group. His artistic hobby grants him extreme creativity, which allowed his Kiramental to shape new forms for the Mashin. While Juru usually addresses others with honorifics, he simply calls their names casually when he's in ranger form. Juru also displays tendencies to show behaviors almost identical to King Oradin's, partially due to meeting the late Crystalian king in his mind. While the other Kiramagers and Princess Mabushina find these tendencies to be awkward, Galza finds them increasingly infuriating, primarily due to the hatred he holds towards King Oradin. Tametomo Imizu/KiramaiYellow: The Relaxing Warrior. An e-sports captain and star shooter who was chosen by Mashin Shovellow to be his partner. Cocky with a good heart, his quick thinking and pragmatic mindset allows him to form effective strategies against Yodonheim. Tametomo grew up under the knowledge of his grandfather, who taught him the basics he still employs in the present. However, when he received a video game from him that wasn't what he wanted, he asked for it to be returned, and subsequently shut out his grandpa in the end when he couldn't. He quickly found himself overcome with guilt when he died of a heart attack, and it was this relationship that allows him to tolerate Shovellow. In the present day, Tametomo is a gamer and the leader of his team "SPARK OF BULLET". Him being the leader of his e-sports team is also another reason why he wanted to be the leader of the Kiramagers. Tametomo is characterized by his stern, cocky and sometimes arrogant hotshot attitude, but still laid back at times when it counts. Known as the no. 1 player in the E-Sports world and a star shooter, he effortlessly handles the fight if ranged weapons are in play. He constantly gets on the nerves of his partner Shovellow, who to his chagrin criticizes his abilities whenever he gets the chance. His cocky side also made him less than accepting of Juru when the high-schooler failed to recognize him, which worsened when he chose an excavator for his partner's new form. Despite this, he has a good heart, and a few times he will take the lead, though it'll take time before he can fully accept a person. Tametomo himself has admitted that he is bad at playing instruments, but his singing voice is exceptionally off the charts. Sena Hayami/KiramaiGreen: The Transmission Warrior. A passionate and bubbly track-and-field athlete who was chosen by Mashin Mach to be his partner. Her speed is one of her greatest assets, allowing her to take on strong opponents with ease. She earned the name Supersonic Princess during her first official career as a karuta player in her younger days. She went to college with Natsume Masaki, who was a senior of Sena's. Eventually, she pursued her new life to be a full-time track and field athlete, where she became famous as of the present day where SCRTC became her sponsor due to her and Natsume knowing each other from college. A speed demon and daredevil, Sena often proves very excitable due to her track running, and former Karuta careers. That also leaves her with a great love of high speeds. She is also hot-headed due to this, but has a bubbly and empathetic nature, and is a soft person on the inside. She is an eager member of the group, and often charges in the battle headstrong, sword in hand. Although she does have a squeamish side, often shown to be cowardly against the attacks of Darkness Megabeast Mecha Smog Jouki and Catcher Ligany. Shiguru Oshikiri/KiramaiBlue: The Piercing Warrior. A popular movie star chosen by Mashin Jetter to be his partner. Considered to be The Ace of the team due to his swordsmanship, he acts as a serious, emotionless person, even though deep-down - he's probably the farthest from that persona. Although a popular movie star, he often takes the role of a quiet noble warrior, which quickly became his main persona in casual life. He is very gentlemanly and skilled in swordsmanship, serving as an older brother figure to his partner. Compared to most of the Kiramagers, he appears to be devoid of emotion, barely expressing his feelings near the others. However, this emotionless and stoic personality is nothing but a facade, where in truth, he puts this front up in order to look cool, so no one sees his more vulnerable side, both in front of the Kiramagers, as well as on-set when he is acting. Although due to his interactions with the Kiramagers, his more vulnerable side is slowly seeping out, resulting in being on the receiving end of light teasing. Shiguru proved himself to be quite a lady's man and a skilled detective, quickly picking up and piecing clues while swooning women with his charm. Sayo Oharu/KiramaiPink: The Healing Warrior. A genius doctor skilled in aikido chosen by Mashin Helico to be her partner. Graceful with the beauty to match, she hides a deadly side whenever a certain Trigger Phrase (?too late?) is uttered. Sayo is the 4th person chosen to be a Kiramager after Helico witnesses her skillfully perform surgery on a patient. After taking a mutual interest in each other, Sayo and Helico bond quickly and Helico and Mabushina take her to the CARAT base. During her first visit to the base, she learns more about the Kiramai Stones and encounters Muryo's fake Bechats. She transforms with Sena and Shiguru, led by Tametomo and fights against the Bechat. They defeat the Bechats, and her team manages to successfully clear their first challenge as Kiramagers. Sayo is known for her proficiency in the medical field, as well as her beauty. She is empathetic, intelligent, reserved, and courteous. Despite this, she has a tendency to be stoic at times, and abandons sugarcoating her words to be blunt and direct when the situation demands it. She is easily swooned by King Express and especially Kiramai Silver. Sayo at a young age used to be terrified of everything and would cry frequently. After saving a dog at age 5, she grew to have a resilience to life-or-death situations with a strong determination for saving lives. Sayo acts as an older sister figure to the team, and takes care of Sena and Mabushina like one. In accordance with this, Tametomo and Sena refer to Sayo as 'Sayo-nee" (lit. older sister Sayo). Sayo has a soft spot for things that are Emoi (emotional). She is immediately drawn towards anything she finds 'emoi'. Despite being a doctor herself, Sayo is afraid of dentists. Takamichi Crystallia, nee Hakatminami/KiramaiSilver: the Sixth Ranger and the Silver Ranger of the Kiramagers. He is 47 years old, making him the oldest Kiramager. However, due to a Kiramai Stone implanted in his body, he looks 17. Takamichi Crystalia was born two years earlier than his brother Muryou Hakataminami. 30 years ago, at the age of 17 when he was still a high schooler, he was introduced to King Oradin, a friend of his father. Takamichi later went on an expedition with his father and King Oradin who had already an already filled notebook of locations for powerful stones. When Takamichi started digging, the treasure revealed itself to be a Monstone and went into Takamichi. With his life in danger, Oradin brought Takamichi to Crystalia and implanted a Silver Kiramai Stone into his body to dampen the effects of the Monstone. Afterwards, Takamichi was adopted as the prince of the Crystalian Kingdom and met the kingdom?s sole heir, Princess Mabushina. During his time in Crystalia, he came spoke at length with Galza, who manipulated him into believing that he did better when he worked alone than alongside others. After Mabushiina was afflicted with a curse that would eventually cause her to crumble to dust, Galza confided in Takamichi with false hopes about a way to save his sister while also pointing out that King Oradin's notebook has details of every potential location a valuble stone could be found. Initially, Galza didn't believe that this treasure hunt would actually garner anything of use and that it wouldn't cause problems for him in the future. This corrupted Takamichi's thinking into believing that the best way to prevent the same fate from happening to his sister was by acting coldly to her and leaving Crystalia to go "treasure hunting" for the Kanaema (wish demon) Stones, which grants a wish that he believed can remove Numajo's curse. Takamichi took the Shiny Kiramai Changer, Shiny Breaker, and King Oradin's notebook along with him as he searched the locations where King Oradin has been. He left around the same time period where Crystalia fell in which Galza took advantage of an exhausted Oradin and an absent Takamichi in order to complete the Yodonheim invasion. Takamichi is loyal, positive, and very sentimental. He is also very impulsive and stubborn, which more often than not, lands him in tough situations that require assistance. Takamichi often uses English words in his speech, especially the word "wonder", in "Wonder Cute" and "Wonder Thank You" as well as "shiny". In the early episodes since his appearance, he tended to put on a brave face to hide his true feelings, but later opened up more to the Kiramagers after they assisted him many times. As observed by Juru Atsuta, Takamichi is a kind and caring person deep down, who loves helping people and seeing them smile, yet pretends to act cold-hearted and selfish. He is shown to have happily greeted Mabushina before she berated him for his absence. Takamichi also has a habit of suddenly changing moods (such as going from disappointed/serious to happy and animated) when things don't go his way. Takamichi also was tricked into following Galza's advice about going solo, meaning he rarely accepted assistance. Though after he lost his Shiny Kiramai Changer, he realized that Galza was trying to sabotage him, which was something that he ignored in order to stoke his ego. Most of these mood shifts and his aloof personality stems from keeping secrets that involves the potential loss of his sister. Rather than letting her get involved, he started to act uncaring instead of letting her know the truth. When Muryou reveals Takamichi to be a Showa Era individual, Takamichi leaves the CARAT base by doing what Muryou says was a common Showa sign-off. He is also a bit of a flatterer as he gives ample compliments to Sayo Oharu, Sena Hayami, Mabushina, and various other women based on their beauty and looks or whether they assisted him. Sempaiger: Captain Marvelous/Gokai Red: The leader of the Gokaigers, after the Red Pirate Crew disbanded earlier back. A headstrong young man with the skills to prove it, his strong personality has drawn many people to his crusade to find the "Greatest Treasure in the Universe" - as well as pushed them away. Always sparkling, Captain Marvelous is a "wild man." He desires everything to be stimulating, and he is always curious. Once he sets his aims on a target, he moves forward without flinching, no matter what. Marvelous is the type to poke his head in where it does not belong, and he often brandishes his crew with unreasonable orders. Though he is the team leader, Captain Marvelous is an unpredictable sort of character who does reckless things to satisfy his curiosity, stating his actions as what any pirate would do in that particular moment. He is much stronger than he looks, evidently seen in episode 7 where he throws darts while wearing a heavy bracelet that Don can barely carry with both hands. His strength is also displayed in a flashback in episode 12, where he rips the Zangyack tracking collar off Joe's neck. He also has a rather hearty appetite. Kairi Yano/LupinRed: When Kairi was a child, his parents died and he was raised primarily by his older brother Shori Yano. However, when he was 18, he lost his brother to Zamigo Delma. Provided with a VS Changer by Kogure, butler to the descendant of the legendary thief Ars?ne Lupin, Kairi was promised that by becoming one of the Lupinrangers and reclaiming the Lupin Collection, he would be able to grant his wish and bring back who he had lost. Becoming Lupin Red, Kairi joined Blue and Yellow, Touma Yoimachi and Umika Hayami, with whom he made the promise to claim their wish. Kairi is a level-headed person who is devoted to reclaiming the Lupin collection, albeit he usually slacks off during his work in Bistro Jurer. Kairi takes his Phantom Thief job seriously. He's able to think outside the box as he was able to 'use' the Patrangers for helping Lupinrangers course of actions and possesses good leadership skills. Kairi held a massive grudge against Zamigo Delma since Zamigo is the one who took the Lupinrangers' loved ones. His grudge is massive enough that he attempted to take Zamigo alone. He also usually lost his cool when fighting the latter. Many moments of failures and depression have often left him wondering about his jerky side, but help from others quickly remedy the doubts. Although Keiichiro helps make him sentimental as it reminds him of His late brother. Kairi also has his own free will; setting off to accomplish thing his own way, with no hesitation to do the emotionally hard tasks, planning on retrieving the Lupin Collections and the lost loved ones in one way only: as a Phantom Thief. Allies: Zocks Goldtsuiker/Twokaizer: The eldest son and leader in the latest generation of the Goldtsuikers, a family of ?World Pirates? (Sekai Kaizoku/世界海賊, or Kaizoku/界賊/?World Plunderer? for short) from the parallel world of Kaizokutopia. He is after the SD Tojiru Gear/SDtopia in the hopes of curing his brothers of their Super-Deformation. Zocks comes from Kaizokutopia, a world of Pirates. He and his siblings Flint, Ricky and Cutanner are World Pirates (界賊 Kaizoku), sailing from parallel world to another. They are also fans of the Gokaigers, to the extent that as Twokaizer, he looks like Gokai Red but golden. Zocks is a very flashy and cool World Pirate. He is conniving and materialistic, having no qualms with stealing the candy from the Candy Cafe Colorful just because he and his family can. He likes to sing songs and perform dance routines, even when transforming into Twokaizer and his other forms. He mainly sings variations of Kaizoku no Uta (界賊の唄 lit. Song of the World Pirates), with variations depending on the current situation. Zocks cares very much for his family, and will not tolerate them being messed with. His love for his family however leads to him not caring about those he will put aside for them. All of his actions align with the personal goals of the World Pirates, such as being on the Zenkaiger's Earth in the first place, using several dirty tricks in fights for his advantage, and endangering several civilians & even the Zenkaigers as long as he can defeat the present Worlds. This puts him and the World Pirates at severe odds with Kaito and the others. Even with his selfish ways he has some sense of honor. When he counted his loss towards his and Kaito's challenge, he promised to pay for what they stole from the Candy Cafe Colorful and stop thieving on Earth, though he still paid in a currency they could not accept. After several more conflicts and encounters involving the World Pirates and the Zenkaigers, they eventually warm up to one another and stop getting in one another's a way when combating the current World threat. Zocks's reason for enjoying Kaito's presence is that he's "fun", as opposed to someone like Stacey. Yatsude Goshikida: Kaito?s grandmother, and owner of the sweet-shop and caf? Colorful, the basement of which serves as the Home Base for the Zenkaigers. She takes care of Kaito in the absence of his parents. Yatsude is nurturing and caring, but she can be strict when needed, particularly when it comes to organization. She is, however, very similar to Kaito, being the one who raised him after his parents disappeared. Secchan: A toy bird that Kaito?s parents built before they disappeared. He acts as the mascot for Colorful and is deeply loved by both Kaito and Yatsude. He supports the team with his encyclopaedic knowledge of past Sentai teams. When he was first given to Kaito, Secchan had very little in terms of personality, but after his protocols were activated, he became slightly hyperactive and slightly chaotic. He was built with the knowledge of all past Super Sentai teams, and is the wisest member of the Zenkaiger base team. Despite this, he can still get in a foul mood, especially after he was thrown casually by Gaon. Flint Goldtsuiker: The eldest daughter of the Goldtsuikers, functioning as the main engineer of the quartet. She created Twokaizer?s equipment based on the Gokaigers? design, and recreated the Sentai Gears from looking at the Zenkaizer Gear briefly. Flint's passion for inventing came out while she was young, her first invention being a music box. However, the device looked incomplete and playedit's tune off-key, and embarrassed about it, she threw it into the sea. Having put a lot of time and effort into it, Flint quickly regretted disposing of the music box, and searched the ocean fruitlessly, only getting it back once Zocks found it for her. Like her family, Flint is a self-absorbed pirate who has no qualms messing with others to get her way. She cares very much for her family, and supports her brother with her technology to beat the Tojitendo for their younger brothers' sake. As an older sister she takes a more hands-off approach towards her younger brothers. When they argue in public, she just says that is how they always are. Even then, it turns out her inaction was what caused Ricky and Cutanner to be cursed, thus she holds a large amount of guilt. Compared to her brother she is much more rugged. She has no sense of honor, and even suggested wiping out the Zenkaigers when they had the chance. However she gained a little trust towards them after Kaito confronted her and helped her out. She seems to like sweets such as mochi and candy. Cuttanner and Ricky Goldtsuiker/Twokai Cutanner and Twokai Ricky: The twin brothers and youngest of the Goldtsuikers, who were cursed into Super-Deformed robots when they visited the parallel world of SDtopia. Dubbing their current forms Twokai Cutanner and Twokai Ricky to align with their older brother, they are imbued with the powers of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Chouriki Sentai Ohranger respectively. Ricky and Cutanner are both eager and ready for action while admiring their elder siblings, though both are prone to whining whenever they get the short end of the straw on certain situations. They are, however, very supportive of their family. Ricky in particular favors cream buns, while Cuttanner favours black bean buns. Stacy/Stacaesar: The former “Demon Prince” of the Tozitend and Mobile Commander Barashitara?s half-human son with his 893rd wife. Despite working with the Tozitend, he didn?t care about their cause and merely fought for his own goals, eventually forming a rivalry with Kaito and Zocks, before leaving them behind with some encouragement from Yatsude. He is a kindhearted and gentle boy who had been forced to endure an unfair life of suffering and misery that had been perpetuated by people who had treated him poorly. Stacy had also yearned for love and friendship so he could gain some semblance of happiness in his otherwise miserable life. Mabushiina: The Queen of Crystallia who inherited the throne upon its restoration, following the destruction of Yodonheim. Mabushina can be described as playful and eager to help, showing great concern for her friends and family. As one of the youngest in the battle against Yodonheim, Mabushina is always willing to try something new, but she is still prone to moments of nativity, but nonetheless dedicated. Mabushina can be easily frustrated, but her love of her family and friends always simmers down her anger. Tozitend Dynasty: The tyrannical overlords of the alternate world of Kikaitopia, who have silently and swiftly conquered various realities throughout the multiverse - including the first 44 Super Sentai worlds - via sealing them within Toziru Gears. However, a glitch occurred in sealing the very last World, the Zenkaigers’ World, resulting in part of Kikaitopia merging with it, thus forcing them to manually and physically conquer the merged World instead to expand their territory. Kudakkus: The Tozitend’s foot soldiers. They wield Plug Lancers, spears with two-pronged plugs at the end. New Kudaitests: Upgraded versions of the Kudaitests, giant blank slate robots that absorb the Toziru Gears from defeated Wald monsters to become a Dai Wald. What do I think of Zenkaiger? I liked the plot decently enough, especially the massive number of twists literally no-one saw coming, but I felt it had moments where it got slightly too silly and the show worked best when it balanced the zaniness with drama. Now then, onto the staff, Zenkaiger is the first Sentai in a long while to be produced by Shinichiro Shirakura, of Kamen Riders Agito, Ryuki, Faiz, Hibiki, Kabuto, Den-O, Decade, Amazons and Zi-O fame. The writer is Junko Komura, previously of Zyuohger and Lupinranger vs Patranger, while the director is Kyohei Yamaguchi, of Heisei Generations Forever and Kiramager fame. So, with all of that said, on with the review. After a preview of what?s to come later in the film, followed by the title card, we cut to the Zenkaigers on their universe hopping road trip (which they embarked upon in their final episode. I?ll try to avoid any overt spoilers), having ended up in a parallel universe where jewel themed heroes battled demons of darkness, on the planet Crystallia. The 5 are being shown around the palace by Prince Takamichi, while the Queen is away on business. Amazed by what they?ve seen, Kaito takes a selfie of the 5 with the Prince to commemorate their visit, on Gaon?s suggestion. Meanwhile, at a curry house in a parallel world where space pirates fight with the power of every Super Sentai before and after them? Juru, Tametomo and Sena approach their target, Captain Marvelous, with Juru shutting down Tame?s attempts to act cool. They then make contact with the target, accusing him of having taken one of the 4 Kanaema Stones (Kiramager’s McGuffins, a set of 4 jewels that when brought together, can be used to grant one wish). Namely, Destroica (introduced in epsidoe 17, possessing the individual ability to destroy anything). But Marvelous being himself in answering their query leads to a fight breaking out, prompting the interdimensional travellers to Kiramai Change. But meanwhile, the Zenkaigers and Secchan return to their universe of origin (they have to use these sets before they get redressed for Donbrothers to save money). After greeting Yacchan and showing off their list of souvenirs (more on that later), they find that their ally Stacy is there, escorting Queen Mabushiina. Back in Gokaitopia, Marvelous finds the fight interesting enough to Gokai Change? which causes the Kiramagers to decide to talk things out. After he clarifies that there isn’t a Gokai Gold (take that, fan nicknames), they explain that Destroica was stolen by a gold Sentai member who was part of a pirate group. As they apologise and continue their search, Marvelous decides to investigate the matter himself. (Though let?s face it. You probably know who it is) Back in Zenkaitopia, Mabushiina explains her intention as we pan over some of the souvenirs (with Stacy saying that he also wants to give Kikaitopia more connections than Zenkaitopia), which Magine calls bullshit on. Mabushiina explains that to save them and the Galaxy… erm, I mean, connect to parallel worlds, they must find the 4 Cyber Planet Keys… erm, Kanaema Stones. (This joke would be a lot easier if the forum had a strikethrough function) She charges the Zenkaigers with collecting Kanaema Stone Energia (introduced in episode 25, capable of imbuing incredible power, with the drawback that the user will burn themselves out after a while), describing it as a blue magatama-shaped stone with a star pattern. It turns out that Vroon picked it up during a jaunt though a quarry parallel world. But before Mabushiina can retrieve it, a card flies through the air and cuts her hand (which is saying something. Her skin is solid diamond). To nobody out of universe’s surprise, it?s Kairi, who takes the stone for himself. After a brief scuffle, Kairi escapes, with the Kikainoids giving chase. They eventually corner him so he can?t go forwards, backwards, left or right? so of course, he goes up when they try to jump him. But then Takamichi enters, having arrived to return Magine?s divination crystal and takes the stone back. He then Kiramai Changes to confront Kairi, who realises his mistake. He then shows that he is a Super Sentai member too. Back at Colorful, as Yacchan finishes treating Mabushiina’s hand, she uses it to begin strangling Stacy (just another day at the Zenkaiger office then). She then lures him out onto the street, whereupon he realises that this isn’t the real Mabushiina. So he then uses his Geartozinger to Ankoku Change into Stacaesar (who has been further modified to remove the Tozitend insignia from his belt) sleepymagicfemale: Huh, what? I’m sorry, I was too busy staring at his face. But the fight proves in vain, as ”Mabushiina” reveals that the whole thing was a plot to remove him from Kikaitopia so his forces could attack it. With the salt rubbed in successfully, the fake then draws a sword to attack with, rendering him unconscious. Meanwhile, as Kaito and Juran reunite with the three whose Gears come with the belt, they get attacked by Kudakkus. Confused at the fact the former Tozitend grunts are suddenly acting antagonistic again, the heroes reluctantly Change Zenkai to fight back. Back with Takamichi, Kairi explains his prior lack of tact, after explaining that an ally in his world (it?s left ambiguous over whether it was Kogure or No?l, but I’m going with the former), informed him that bad guys were after the Kanaema Stones (how they knew, I’m not sure). We then cut to the Tozitend Palace, where Stacy is shown his friends locked in the dungeons while being dragged in by the fake Mabushiina. She then introduces him to Tozitend’s new king Potdeus, the illegitimate son of Boccowaus. sleepymagicfemale: I love how these crossovers introduce these people who knew the villains from the show, but were never mentioned before now. With Potdeus revealing his goal to conquer all worlds with the Kanaema Stones (well, he certainly got daddy?s ambitions), the fake Mabushiina reveals who he (yes, “he”) really is, through the aid of Kanaema Stone Illusia (introduced in episode 38, capable of creating mirages so real that they feel physical) Iokaru then begins depositing his evil plans, which are being picked up by a tracking device Kairi stuck on him. Takamichi then calls in the Avengers… er, the Kiramagers, away from their current occupations (since the radio drama on the Blu-Ray set reveals that Sayo will eventually quit medicine to become an actress) to convene on Zenkaitopia, while he and Kairi attack Kikaitopia. Back with the Zenkaigers, after fending off the mooks, they meet the boss character, Kalbi (grilled meat) Wald (portmanteau of waru (bad) and world). After explaining that he is the result of an artificial Toziru Gear created by Iokaru, the 5 Kiramagers appear and introduce themselves. Juru: Inspiration Sparkling! KiramaiRed! Tametomo: Guided Shooting! KiramaiYellow! Sena: Rush Lightning! KiramaiGreen! Shiguru: Edge Unstoppable! KiramaiBlue! Sayo: Dexterity Incredible! KiramaiPink! All: Arriving in a flash, with a 24-carat solution! Juru: Mashin Sentai? All: Kiramager! The 5 then break their pose (onscreen no less) and help defeat the Kudakkus. Which just causes Kalbi Wald to unleash his power. A power that sends everyone to an all you can eat steakhouse, where they can’t attack him. sleepymagicfemale: That sounds like a Zenkaiger plot, I guess? The Zenkaigers immediately sit down to eat, and already Vroon is disappointed by the selection available. Then the Kiramagers decide to sit down, and Tametomo and Gaon’s simultaneous advice gives rise to an argument between the two. And Shiguru doesn’t ease the tensions none when he corrects Vroon on what A5 refers to. (The latter thinks it’s size, but he’s thinking of paper) And then the two teams decide to see who can finish first, without giving Juru fair warning. And then everyone argues over who will be able to finish first, based on their skill sets. Meanwhile, the Battleship CrocoDaiOh returns to Zenkaitopia, along with its passengers, the Goldtsuikers. Namely, Zocks who breaks out into the a-cappella version of his insert song. But they get interrupted by the arrival of Captain Marvelous (now how did he know they’d show up there?) While Ricky and Cuttanner fail to recognise him, Flint does easily (thanks to a fact from episode 9 of Zenkaiger) Zocks then launches into a big speech expressing himself. Zocks: Let me say this: we ripped off your design look. But we aren’t using your name. In all the worlds, we’re the one and only World Pirates! The Goldtsuiker Crew! But that doesn’t prevent a fight from breaking out when Marvelous decides to take the ?dangerous stone? by force, and Zocks refuses to hand it over. Back in the steakhouse dimension, everyone has finished. But instead of letting them out as promised, Kalbi Wald creates more food for them to eat. And when they make their way through that, he just creates more (no, this isn’t a reused picture) It’s then that Sayo correctly figures out how he does it. (Introduced in episode 21, the Kanaema Stone has the ability to warp time as its user desires) And with everyone getting full, Shiguru nobly volunteers to eat all of it himself. But then he makes a comment on having a vice on his head, which Kalbi Wald takes as a request and grants. (Resulting in another instance of the one gag of his that I don’t find particularly funny. Just mean) But this does give Juran the realisation that they can request anything they want. Meanwhile, Stacy has been locked in a cell with the real Mabushiina, who is blas? with the whole thing. Why is she so chill? Because Takamichi shows up to rescue her, right on cue. Back with the battle of the pirates, Ricky and Cuttanner are playing the role of the narrator, while Flint totally checks out Marvelous’s ass. As the fight ends in a draw, Secchan appears to fill Zocks in on the plot so far. And then Zocks pulls out Destroica on being shown what it looks like. Back in the steakhouse, Juran has requested a jacket and workout music (which more than a few people in a Discord server I?m in thought was him with his shirt off, due to his silver undersuit) But trying to burn off calories just after eating causes him collapse from the dehydration. Everyone then begins requesting their own methods to make eating easier, with Gaon requesting the equipment to make his own stew… which Tametomo points out the problem with. Back in the palace, Stacy runs afoul of Dr. Iokaru, and gets saved by who he thinks is Kaito. But it?s actually? Meanwhile, Zocks and Marvelous attack the throne room, chasing Potdeus out. Back in the steakhouse, Juru realises that there?s no way they can continue eating. So he comes up with an idea. Gaon: What?s Flounder?(hirame) Vroon: Maybe he said calf muscle.(hiramekin) Juru then makes an order. But he fails to account for the fact he?s in a movie that can?t afford either Pikotaro or Mizuki Saiba?s availability. But then Kaito has an idea of his own. If they can?t ask him to summon people to help, then they can summon help themselves. Via the aid of the Zenryoku Zenkai Cannon (or as I always call it, the Diend Gun. You?ll see why) Using the Super Sentai setting (which is normally a finisher, but whatever), he summons Kirenger, VulPanther, Goggle Yellow, DynaYellow, Yellow Owl, Tiger Ranger, Ninja Yellow and Ginga Yellow. (All embody the stereotype of yellow rangers being big eaters, with the first two being the only examples of the much more common stereotype that yellow rangers love curry). And Sena chooses now to question a part of her ludicrous lifestyle. After they finish that course, Kaito takes care of the next one by using the Patrol Power setting to summon the Dekarangers (he could?ve also summoned GoGoFive and Patranger with that setting, but that?s not the budget they?re working with). Why them? Because the Dekarangers were once used in a series of ads for a real world Yakiniku restaurant. And for the next course, Kaito uses the Super Sentai Power setting again, this time calling the second Kirenger (the one who died in the show, as opposed to the one who died in real life), Battle Kenya, DenziBlue, Pink Racer, Pink Flash, RyusoulPink, ToQIchigou (look, I?ll get the fact all of these guys are big eaters off here, so I can segue into my next comment) and Mega Red (fun fact: When teasers and a trailer for this movie dropped, people thought he was returning in spite of the fact that a) the evidence they were using was a generic looking hand in the teaser, b) he was clearly part of a use of the Diend Gun in the trailer, c) the actor who plays him retired years ago and d) if he was actually returning, they?d be playing it up in the advertising) And for the final course, Kaito use the Sentai Gear for Gorenger, summoning the Gorenger Hurricane. Using its power, Kaito creates a gluttony idol, who Secchan identifies for the kids in the theatre. With this, the desired effect is achieved and Reversia runs out of power, meaning that Kalbi Wald can?t revert the table back to the beginning anymore. With that, everyone returns to reality, ending up in the same quarry where Zocks and Co have chased their opponents to. As Iokaru clarifies that Zocks stole Destroica from him, it transpires that now both sides of the coin have two Kanaema Stones. Kaito says that he won?t allow Potdeus to acquire them, before everyone transforms. Zenkaigers: Change Zenkai! Zocks: Change Tsukai! Stacy: Ankoku Change! Kiramagers: Kiramai Change! And then they do a Zenkaiger styled Roll call. As in, modified to fit what?s happened. Kaito: Galbi Power! Zenkaizer! Juran: Sirloin Power! (It’s good in tonkatsu too) ZenkaiJuran! Gaon: Skirt Steak Power! (That’s from the diaphragm.) ZenkaiGaon! Magine: Bibimbap Power! (Mix it up!) ZenkaiMagine! Vroon: Gomtang Gukbap Power! (It’s hot.) ZenkaiVroon! Kaito: The five of us are… All: Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger! Juran: It?s an homage! Zocks: Kaizoku no Power! (Yohohoi!) Twokaizer! Stacy: Ankoku no Power! Stacaesar! Juru: Beef Tongue Sparkling! KiramaiRed! Tametomo: White Rice Shooting! KiramaiYellow! Sena: Fatty Pork Lightning! KiramaiGreen! Shiguru: Cold Noodles Unstoppable! KiramaiBlue! Sayo: Premium Tripe Incredible! KiramaiPink! Takamichi: Piercethrough Shining! KiramaiSilver! All: Mashin Sentai Kiramager! After Juru and Kaito make quick work of the mooks, Iokaru combines Illusia with a Geartozinger to create an army of Gormin, Buglars, Zorima, Kuros, Jyukkarage, Moebas, Indavers, Pordermen, Drunns, Bechats and Kudakkus. But then Marvelous and Kairi reappear, having transformed? And they brought along a few friends, who cause Secchan to have a nerdgasm. Mr. Enny: A fun fact. This is the one time where they went and dug out stock lines for these characters. The Masked Rider of Death: These aren?t soundalikes? Mr. Enny: No. The Masked Rider of Death: I generally don?t notice soundalikes in Toku. Mr. Enny: Oh believe me, when you get to Senki, you will. (Of course, the above conversation is slightly unnecessary, since the ?stock dialogue? consists of their roll calls) Marvelous: Gokai Red! Hiromu: Red Buster! Daigo: The Fanged Brave, KyoryuRed! ToQ Brace: ToQIchigou, ToQIchigou! Takaharu: A splendid rampage, AkaNinger! Yamato: Monarch of the Open Skies, ZyuohEagle! Lucky: Super Star! Shishi Red! Kairi: Lupin Red! Keiichiro: PatrenIchigou! Koh: The Valorous Knight, RyusoulRed! And as Juru and Kaito join this group, Secchan gives them a name and this movie?s title some justification. Kairi explains that they all said yes when asked to help stop a multiversal threat, and they charge into battle with the mook army, with all of their sword SFX playing. (Now if only there was a toy that collected them all) Final Wave! It?s Time for Buster! Vamola! Kirimasu yo! Goshu Ikudasai! Ninja Issen! Zyuoh Slash! Galaxy! Itadaki Strike! Ichigeki Strike! Ken Bom! As Juru and Kaito leave them be, the main battle begins, with Kiramager?s OP (still not a fan, BTW) kicking in. In order for us to sparkle, I think we met by chance, so polish up the scratches, Mashin Sentai Kiramager I've only just started to slip out of the lines of this blank sketchbook, and I've got this feeling I can go anywhere! This dokidoki imagination is an engine that wants to make a dream, but it's like I can't break free from the outside world! In reality, instead of worrying more about what others think about you, you just want to scream and run, so, if you feel it, then Kiramai Go! The future is starting, so grab hold of the wind and rise with a sudden flash, Kiramental the power to believe in what you love! In order for us to sparkle, I think we met by chance, so polish up the scratches, Mashin Sentai Kiramager During the fight, Juran and Sena pay Kalbi Wald back by using the energy from the food he served them? Shiguru and Vroon do the old ?accidentally attack and kill your ally? feint. Magine takes Sayo for a ride on her broomstick. And the extras all fight Iokaru and his apparent army of fox ninjas. As Kaito and Juru wail on Potdeus, he begs Iokaru for help, causing the latter to blurt out that he?s not actually Boccowaus? illegitimate son. He just told him that to get him onboard because he looked slightly like him. Potdeus then immediately moves into the category for the sympathy vote. Kaito then enters righteous anger mode, with Juru entering his ?Eureka-ing? mode. And it comes just as Mabushiina shows up, along with Flint, the twins and pile of onions wasabi and knives. At Mabushiina?s request, the three make her cry blue diamonds, which Juru turns into two copies of his latest creation, the Kirameki Zenkaiju Gear (a transparent version of the regular Zenkaiju Hear, with the looping ?Kaiju? replaced by Mabushiina?s VA Inori Minase doing the Kiramai Changer announcement) The two kaizers then use these to transform (it doesn?t fit in Stacy?s Geartozinger due to the ?crest? on the head). Kaito: Himitsu no Kirameki! Zocks: Kaizoku no Kirameki! (These forms are basically the GoKiramager vests with the weapons from the pair?s regular Super forms) Cue the theme song (which I?ve subbed the whole of, with some help from TV-Nihon on the first half. The rest is my own translation, intended to a,tech the first half) (Full-Power Full-Force) Unleash a roar of justice with your secret gun. (Bang. Ba-bang!) With serious spirits and sparkling buddies. Whether you?re in the past, the future, or any parallel world, Our miraculous bond is the power of braves. Into the windy horizon, let?s go arm-in-arm and jump! (Jump. Let?s jump) Like the showy rising sun, I want to be the light of peace. Always go full-full-full-power full-force! Connect and empathise with technology! So exciting! An endless number of firsts! So do-do-do your best! That?s right! With courage there is no limit. Make your heart run on a gear that?ll never give up! Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger. Youth explodes out in an extreme battle. If you can?t face forward, you get caught in a scrum. Dreams are the engine to flying freely. The one good thing is the unfreezing words of light. The legend of a rainbow in my heart is alive. (Live. Alive) I will fully accelerate out of a pinch in order to save the Earth. Behold all all all of these squadrons. With machines that surpass your thoughts! Having fun burns up my soul! So do-do-do your best! That?s right! With strength there is no limit. To protect tomorrow, I will save lives explosively. Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger! With rampaging power, finish the mission in a flash. (Babang! Bang! Babang!) Delete the darkness immediately! Go go go like a spark of lightning. I change from hiding into my true self. If you see the galaxy crying, then say goodbye! (Bye. Goodbye) When we share the same self-gratification, That is my treasure! Always go full-full-full-power full-force! Connect and empathise with technology! So exciting! An endless number of firsts! So do-do-do your best! That?s right! With courage there is no limit. Make your heart run on a gear that?ll never give up! Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger. Full-power full-force! After delivering the customary beatdown, Kairi then takes the two Kanaema Stones from Iokaru, bluntly telling him he should?ve signed up for the Ganglers instead of the Tozitend. And then the main two teams combine their attacks to kill Iokaru and Kalbi Wald, providing us with the final two SFX to the collection above. Checkmage! Dai Zenkai! With Iokaru?s Geartozinger to sustain them, the Legend Mook army ceases to exist. But the flick isn?t over, as a New Kudaitest comes out of nowhere to absorb Kalbi Wald?s Toziru Gear. He does so, transforming into Dai Kalbi Wald and transforming Earth into a replica of a hypothetical Kalbitopia (let?s not get into a discussion over whether Dr. Iokaru created a whole universe, it?ll only get confusing). Kaito then uses the Kirameki Zenkaiju Gear to combine the Diend Gun with his four teammates into a variation of their strongest robot. Specifically, Kirameki Zenryoku ZenkaiOh, made of solid crystal. Mr. Enny: The great thing about an all-CGI Mecha is that you can easily change it up for these sort of things. After a short fight, the robot channels the power of the Kiramagers? Mashins to destroy Dai Kalbi Wald. Back on the ground, Stacy decides to forgive Potdeus, provided he helps rebuild Kikaitopia. Kairi and Marvelous observe this, before departing back to their original worlds. With all 4 Kanaema Stones in hand, a fight breaks out between the Zenkaigers and Zocks over who gets to keep Destroica, with Mabushiina thinking they should lock all 4 stones away where they can never be used again. And then Flint feels hungry. And because the Kanaema Stones are in close enough proximity, they grant this wish before flying off to parts unknown. The Goldtsuikers, the Crystallias and Stacy all sit down to dig in (with Takamichi noting that he?ll have to find the Kanaema Stones all over again), while Kaito and Juru end the film by spelling out their trauma from this experience. Cue the ending, a mash up of Zenkaiger?s OP and Kiramager?s ED Final thoughts: A fun little romp with some slightly better balance of tone than Zenkaiger proper and bad guys who manage to have fairly interesting gimmicks. Plus let?s face it, the appearance of the Sempaiger line up is already iconic. The Challenge: The souvenirs Kaito and Co bring back contain some familiar items. How many can you identify? Join me again in the near future where I review the other part of this loose ?saga?, Avataro Sentai Donbrothers Meets Sempaiger. Last edited by Androzani84; 03-22-2023 at 06:23 AM.. |

It’s been a little over a year but I am officially back on watching Fiveman and have been for the last several days ever since the series made its official release in the US on which I am now down to its last 14 episodes and it will be another Sentai series I’ve watched in its entirety since Kiramager if all goes according to plan.

It's kind of odd. Despite how much I enjoyed Zenkaiger as it aired, as Donbrothers goes on, as I think back to Zenkaiger and rewatch portions of it, it's shortcomings and problems become more and more prevalent.

Yeah - I like Zenkaiger. There are fantastic characters and moments in this show which I will cherish forever. But it also sometimes just delves into the most mediocre Sentai formula imaginable. That tires me out at points.

I'm enjoying Donbrothers as well, but even with Inoue's talent, it still hasn't surpassed Zenkaiger for me yet.
Like yeah, I understand the criticism that Zenkaiger is very formulaic with all the plot happening in the background, but Dekaranger did the same thing and a lot of people love that show!
