The helmets... I did not expect them to be an instant least-favorite. They have fully edged out all other candidates for least-favorite Sentai helmet.
I think the fundamental problem is the silhouette, which doesn't read as human. When I'd heard the rumors of tire visors, I'd assumed the tire would be on its side and roughly correspond to a normal Sentai visor. I'm curious as to how often we'll see the suits without them. I'd assume only during transformation, but the mecha did sort of look like it was using the same tire from our red hero. I am so, so curious to find out what Japanese kids think of the suits once official images are released. (I assume that's also not likely to happen before mid-January?) |

Right, yeah, I knew there was something else it reminded me of.
Kind of like Gorisaki from Gobusters. I think they're in that weird Dynaman transitional period between Showa and Heisei style where they try and appear more modern than Goggle V suits only to get immediately overshadowed by Bioman suits. Quote:

For the silhouette, it's not like we even know for sure that they're human, based on what little we've seen. Could be like the Kikainoids, or the CGI Donbrothers where their bodies physically change.

The helmets look like the kind of heads you'd see on car-themed grunt enemies. I really have no better way to phrase it but... they're very undignified? Does that make sense? The tires don't communicate a personality or "expression" like helmet visors usually do.
Also the mecha isn't looking too hot. Don Onitaijin and King Ohger had such instantly strong, easily readable and badass silhouettes. On the plus side it looks like it may still be articulated (yay!) but the design is pretty basic looking. Also disappointed we're back to Red's being the main body and everyone else being swappable arms. Even though it quickly got out of hand I quite liked how King Ohger just kept building on the main mech. Then again, there's way worse play patterns than swappable arms. Clearer pics may help some but honestly this feels really weak after the last two Sentai's design aesthetics. |

Just from the rough leaks, the suit designs are a little too silly and out-there for my taste. I'll happily wait for the full official reveal, but kinda looks like we're getting a more goofy & lighter season? That's fine, Sentai has been on a good track of mixing things in the past few years

I fucking love them. This is the dumb Sentai bullshit I can't get enough of.

Everyone's talking about the tire faces, but I'm all like... zippers on the front of the suit!?
