A little update on the Kamen Rider keyboard I've been working on:
So I've set up a macro pad. Each button plays the same sound that the Neo-Decadriver would play for that rider. Pressing the top left button will toggle the Final Form sound from the NDD (Zi-O will be the Grand Zi-O henshin jingle). What's cool is that all the sounds can overlap and make the craziest noise. Right now, there's no speaker built into it so it has to be connected to a computer to work properly. I still need to add labels to the side buttons and try to add light animations. It's really fun to randomly trigger henshin sounds while I'm working at my desk! |

Here's some pics I took a while back I feel like I should change the name of this thread to something like ShiShiLeo's Custom Toku stuff.

Yes I do! I suppose I can make a guide of sorts how I did that here someday. Bandai's DX toys are much more advanced than just about any children's toys I've come across, lending themselves surprisingly well to modification.

Like cowbells that keyboard could use a Narutaki key and a Kougami key. And the Faiz Driver ERROR sound.
I kid I kid, it is awesome. |

Painted up the Doubutsu Sentai Zyuohger ZyuohKing!
I've been a Gunpla builder for many years but in the past year I think I've built more Minipla kits than Gundam. I can't say I love the ZyuohKing design but as always happens with these kits, building them makes me more fond of the designs. Minipla uses some clever engineering and sometimes compromises. But the end result is something that has the potential to look like the DX toy but with much more articulation. Perhaps the biggest culprit of bad design in the ZyuohKing is found in the Cube Lion. First it does the cardinal sin of using a sticker in a place where a color coded part could have easily gone- but to make it even worse, the surface beneath the sticker is not molded at all. So even if you decide to paint it, you'll lose out on some detail. Second, the entire "face" of the cube with the 3 side is completely hollow using a giant sticker to cover up the area. Basically a sticker sits on top of a grid of plastic. This means no potential to paint and its possible to the sticker will fail or get punctured because its not holding onto a large surface. I didn't bother painting up the Giraffe. It still looks cool with the foil stickers and I do not wish to paint more brown! One last nitpick about the Zyohger Robo is that the video game theme requires very very straight paint. You're essentially painting geometric pixels and even I struggled to hit that mark. Overall ZyuohKing has really grown on me. I generally like the chunky aesthetics of the older Sentai mecha, but ZyuohKing takes blocky to a new level!

Painted up and assembled X Emperor from Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger.
I mostly only used the robot face stickers. I used all metallic markers from the Gundam Marker 121 Set, as well as XM White and Silver, and flat black GM10 for the dials. You can see I messed up a little and painted the "Claw" of X Train Thunder completely blue, but it almost looks better that way. The LuPat robot designs have a lot of detail which make the mecha look a little messy at this scale. The gold used for this plastic is not my favorite but it does line up with the DX toy. Also the trains have a bunch of random pegs on it which I assume are to facilitate the combined Good Cool Kaiser VSX mode. They detract from the overall design. Otherwise, I like the concept of X Emperor as a cartwheeling robot with a humongous Gatling gun on its chest. As a fan of train-themed robots, I was obligated to buy this set.

Shotrise! Lightning Hornet! Piercing needle with incredible force.
Kamen Rider Lightning Hornet. A gorgeous suit, a pain to paint. Once again, painted using Gundam markers. Gold all over the place and in lots of thin lines. Metallic black and then some metallic blue and pain white on the chest. Wings were painted with metallic blue. I really love this suit and SO-DO comes through again filling in the gaps were SHF may never go. This should wrap up my Zero-One SO-DO collection. Up next is another Mini-pla set!
