Bridge Carson is a guy that reminds you of someone we all know - the person that has a story for everything, a fact for everything, and is just a little bit ... off. During Power Rangers SPD, Bridge always had a fact or a statement to make regarding every situation. Throughout the series, he grows as a character that no one really pays much attention to, to a character that is important to the team. Overall, he doesn't get a ton of development. Probably his defining moment comes in the very first episode, where he uses his special ability of reading auras on the A Squad Power Rangers, commenting that their aura is off (SPOILER: This is because the A-Squad had already planned to switch sides and join Emperor Grumm).
By the end of Power Rangers SPD, Bridge had been promoted to Blue Ranger after Sky was promoted to Red Ranger. In the Power Rangers Operation Overdrive episode titled "Once a Ranger", it is revealed that Bridge was promoted again, this time to Red Ranger, after both Doggie Cruger and Sky Tate were promoted a second time. Some fun notes - Bridge Carson is second only to Tommy Oliver in terms of numbers of color changes within the Power Rangers universe, and he did it in a shorter time (one season and one crossover). Bridge Carson was played by Matt Austin, who has remained active with the Power Rangers fan community, often promoting his work as a film director and throwing out a number of "buttery" comments, as the character's catchphrase regarding toast was "buttery" became quite popular and was written in to the latter episodes of SPD as well as the crossover in Power Rangers Operation Overdrive. Over the summer as rumors continued to fly about who was and wasn't taking part in the 20th Anniversary episode of Power Rangers Super Megaforce, the entire cast of Power Rangers SPD not only announced they weren't invited, but they were also pretty displeased about it. The result was Matt Austin creating a separate Power Rangers SPD Reunion episode titled "The Last Patrol", featuring the original five actors returning to reprise their role in a 22 minute fanfilm. There's a deadline of September 2013 for those who want to send in their story idea, as Matt Austin will be using it. For all the details on that, simply click here. Matt is a native of Toronto, Canada and resides there today. He had a few roles post Power Rangers SPD, such as a role in Aaron Stone (produced by Power Rangers SPD producer Bruce Kalish). Otherwise, most of Matt's work has been his own independent short films, which you can find from visiting his Facebook and Twitter accounts (just search for Matt Austin).

Bridge was a great character, and Austin really had a knack for delivering the inane dialogue he always had. This guy is the definition of a "fan favorite" type of character -- not the most powerful or the most serious, but a lot of fun to watch.
