Yokai, maybe? Seems the most marketable.

Best choice!
Just wonder what concepts will go with that? And I just hope Ankh can find someone who'd be worthy of carrying out Eiji's will as OOO, since his tragic death by the king's hands. Either find a new & worthy successor or Ankh becomes OOO full-time. |

I really feel Ankh will need to find a new OOO after Eiji. Whether some relative who's suitable to match Eiji's power or someone else similar to Eiji.
And the girl who Eiji saved before his death by the king's hands, will likely be the new successor's ally who shares how Eiji saved her life once and honors his memory. |

Catching up on Gotchard and I'm having fun with it, but would it kill the show to go one goddamn episode without introducing a new Rider form?

Then in some other one you will have to enter several at once, and this will blur the focus. But yes, the show is very heavy on gimmicks.

You're being very generous in calling alot of them forms and not just attacks.

I remember really liking Kamen Rider Drive's detective elements. How do W and Dekaranger compare in that regard? (Or any other tokusatsu detective shows I may be forgetting about)

I would say there's more of that because they don't go into more plot-dramatic parts and focus on the crime investigations almost until the very end.

Also, I have another unrelated question - which early Heisei series is the most J-drama-like? Or, phrased another way, which series is good to show somebody who enjoys J-dramas?

Maybe Kiva? It's all about love. But in general, it seems to me that despite his unusualness, Hibiki is good enough to lure non-toku fans.
