Has anybody else noticed lately that everything is always Mighty Morphin? We have 21 other teams and there's hardly anything new for them. It's always MMPR all the time. Comics , you name it. I'm sick of it always being MMPR.
It's like the other 21 teams don't count at all. Give me a break.

It's like the other 21 teams don't count at all. Give me a break. In a sense, the other teams don't matter near as much. Spider-Man may have Gwen and Miles, but the face of the franchise will always be the Red-&-Blue on Peter! Doesn't matter how many Kryptonians you have as so many will think of the Red-&-Blue on Clark when someone thinks of Superman. I've often wondered if Saban and Hasbro have tried to make P.R. as ubiquitous as Spider-Man and Superman by peddling the originals most people remember cause they are the ORIGINALS. They are the face of the franchise cause that's what most remember. They are the face of the franchise cause anytime someone owns this franchise, they push the most (at one time) financially-successful aspects to the point of madness (Disney was just weird and stopped caring by RPM). No matter what changes are made, they'll never be able to escape the shadow of MMPR cause they aren't willing to do enough to break away from the nostalgia aspects. Nostalgia isn't saving this franchise...it's running it into the ground! |

I agree, I still don't really want the ''Sentai Snob'' tag but when I was at school and people who were around the same age as me presumably seemed to care more about MMPR than what they would have actually watched like PRTF,PRNS I was like ''What?!'' Most of my problems with PR are more in principle than actually my enjoyment of an average episode, I just wish they would be more honest about it being a Sentai adaptation and MMPR could give people here the wrong idea about PR when stuff like IS,TF,RPM(all in my top 3 btw!) is just more my cup of tea. It's not like I ''hate'' MMPR, obviously some later 00s and earlier 10s shows are an all time low for me but yeah.

MMPR being the "main" one is not surprising to me whatsoever. In Japan, tokusatsu is dime-a-dozen, which makes it easy for individual seasons to become popular - even if they're part of a larger series. In the US, MMPR showed up and became an instant phenomenon, and we got 3 seasons of the Zyuranger suits at the height of its popularity. When they stopped using Zyuranger footage, each season's story and marketing built off what was established in the original Power Rangers. So it makes sense, to me, that somebody trying to sell Power Rangers nostalgia would focus on the most iconic.
That being said, I think they could build the brand out if they gave other teams a chance with their own comic series. I'm just not sure what that would look like. Would they try to adapt something from the same era, with a similar sort of appeal, like Turbo? What would the story be, and how would they separate it from MMPR without being too separate from what the original series was? On the other hand, they could do something like RPM or Operation Overdrive, but how would they get people to care about a seemingly random series like that? At this point, I'm just kind of throwing out random thoughts. There's a way to do it for sure.

Well no I'm not surprised, you can rarely rely on the general public to have good taste or make good decisions (well I am in Britain lol), I just don't think it's right from a quality perspective is all. If someone was too young for Mighty Morphin I would still expect them to have more nostalgia for a PR show that is actually from their childhood even if there might be peer pressure from older people and so on.

Young kids watch the latest season of Power Rangers and sometimes buy the toys. They will grow out of it and play Roblox, Minecraft, or Fortnite. Their connection to Power Rangers will end there.
The kids who grew up watching MMPR are adults now with nostalgia and purchasing power. This is what makes the Power Rangers brand profitable for Hasbro, they have no other reason to push other seasons until MMPR wanes.

Having seen up to Super Ninja Steel there may yet be nostalgia for teams after MMPR. Zeo and In Space would be strong cases for this. Hopefully we see Zeo stuff at some point.

I did always find Zeo a more rounded show than Mighty Morphin, yes. The tone is still light-hearted but there's less in it that would turn off someone who somehow had managed to have not seen an episode of Power Rangers before imo.

I watched Power Rangers on DVD up to Super Ninja Steel. I didn't have cable. Having done this looking at it now they seem to be MMPR nuts ever since the 2017 move. But for me I like to see a new team and a new chapter in the legacy if you want to put it that way. Paramount is again doing an MMPR movie. Not too sure what Netflix is planning with this in 2023.
