Well... It's a bit specific, but Toei/Bandai have touched on Norse Mythology before, in a way. With Digimon Frontier, a lot of Blitzmon's attacks referenced Thor; Garmmon and Velgrmon were based on creatures in Norse Mythology and BeoWolfmon sort of speaks for himself (Even if his and Garmmon's attack names were German). It isn't really much, but it is a well they've drawn from before... very slightly.

Anyway, as a Scandinavian, I personally would ADORE a Rider based on Nordic myths and stories. Again, it could simply be an in-name-only thing, sort of like Sigurd from Gaim or Odin from Ryuki. I'll even take the stereotypical horned helmets.

This does seem like a pretty hard debunk if it's not spelt the right way in Japanese to be the Viking Clan... I also can't find anybody from Japan on social media saying it sounds like the Viking Clan, mostly just people saying it's "robotic" sounding, or that it sounds like a pun on "gears" lol

It could still be a pun of some sort on the Viking Geats maybe... (or just Toei messing up spelling which would not be a huge shock...)

But the Kata spelling not lining up and the lack of seeing anyone from Japan making the Viking connection definitely decreases the odds that it's vikings by a LOT in my mind anyways lol

I'm going to wager that the viking theme is more to do with runes and glyphs rather than say ships and seafaring. A trickster Kamen Rider based on Loki seems inevitable.
