Finally. Sabimaru speaks quite normally in this episode, after uttering just a single word in previous episode.
Who could've thought that Wrestler G's default form is only SHF-sized? I thought he was at least as big as a toddler. Only half of the Yakuza grunts have proper trigger discipline @ 09:17. Who could've also thought that the gun held by Rinne in previous episode's preview is actually BulletChouchou's Wild form? Its power is even weirder than what I imagined. I thought that its power was similar to W's Luna Trigger. Houtarou uses alchemy and even transforms in front of several Muggles in this episode. Sooooo, it looks like it's Minato's job to clean up the mess by Neuralyzing those Muggles, as shown @ 20:54. Also, I'm still curious about how big exactly is the scope of the Neuralyzer spell. What if the mess is too big to cover up with Minato's Neuralyzer spell? There should be at least another high level alchemist with the same task as Minato's working at the same time. The limited and ununiform power of the Neuralyzer spell is very probably what caused the leak of rumor in the internet as mentioned by Kajiki in episode 4. Gorilla Malgam gets upset with Valvarad, and Spanner just casually lets him go. Valvarad's back view @ 11:37 shows that the suit looks like a home-made contraption similar to Tony Stark's Mark I armor. AntWrestler form looks nice. Yellow and bright blue are well-known complementary colors. They tend to make anything visually bold and striking. Next week: BurningGorilla form. It also looks nice. So, Gotchard already has 2 power-type forms? I said in previous episode's thread that this episode was going to focus on Clotho. It turned out I was wrong. She and the other Sisters only appear for 30 seconds to reveal the name of their superior/boss: Glion. Is he the big bad? I doubt it. I think he's more like a top-level executive like Niram, not the mastermind like Sueru. Glion was probably Fuga's (and the Academy's top brasses') former business partner. Somehow, Fuga discovered Glion's and the top brasses' plan to misuse the Chemies, so he decided to steal the RCC's and let the Academy made him the scapegoat of the incident. The Gotchardriver was probably made by Glion. |

The victim of the week format this time.
As usual, now they're using something to detect the MOTW and visit that place. In this case, Chemy Riser. This was the role that some female leads in previous Rider series had, like Hirose's Undead Searcher and Tsukuyomi's tablet. Guess apparently it won't be something people see as contributing, and seen as "just there" for that, and same goes for this episode cuz I've seen Renge and Sabi being viewed as useless still. When not relating to Chemies, as seen in the household, Hotaro acts more grounded. Or even mostly when not in the academy like when interacting with Koichiro, That's what personally I liked more for Hotaro's behavior than his hyper shouting when Chemies are brought up. I think he can act similarly to humans that he also wants to help, to Chemies, when it's about him viewing them as equals. Hotaro is once again the newcomer in sports, pro wrestling here, so he's still sucking at first rather than picking up quickly. Supana doesn't appear much, but now as a typical jerkish anti-heroic secondary Rider, his morally questionable side is now shown in him trying to take someone's Chemy by force despite it being something precious to Koichiro. As usual he still has soft spot to Rinne only to back off when Rinne joins in defending Wrestler G. As usual Rinne puts rules above anything else, only being there to warn Hotaro about breaking it, both times of using alchemy to humans, the yakuzas, or objecting to Minato erasing Koichiro's memories. Aside from coming right after Geats that objected to that.... the writer being the one that wrote Ultraman Nexus makes this seem like deliberate to revisit this in his new series - TLT Memory Police forcibly erasing the memories of anyone knowing the Space Beasts. Tamami apparently claims Rinne says a lot of good things about Hotaro. Renge and Sabi gets along quickly with Hotaro, being all concerned about him when Gorilla Malgam injures him and actively cheering for him against their rematch. For Renge, she seems friendly but I feel slight patronizing air from her too in her treasure boy nickname and her reaction to learning Hotaro's a Kamen Rider. For Yugioh (GX) comparison, I got the vibe of Tag Force 3 Mindy/Momoe as partner who though is cordial to the player (like Asuka, unlike Jasmine), she still views them as lowly Osiris Red through and through. Still all assumption for now though. Koichiro shows that Chemies also can bond with benevolent humans to become allies like Asahi G, not only to malice as Malgam. Antwrestler gives me Monster Buckle vibes, and this time the fight has the least alchemy magic so far, focusing on physical combat. Gotchard is down from Windmill Back Breaker, yet Hotaro unmorphed keeps going and asking for more after repeatedly got hit by that attack in his training.

It's been a long time I've been active here.
While the first and second episodes of Geats were a fair warning to me to not go any further into the series, here I watched all 5 episodes in one go. What I'll say is more about the series as a whole than the episode of the week. What bothered me with Geats was the battle royale setting, the protagonist and the beginning story as a whole. I didn't like it and couldn't be invested in it after Kamen Rider Revice. Here, I was afraid about the alchemy part when the reveal of the series was done but now, I don't mind it at all. The first episode was...well... a first episode... It made me realize something though, it seems I prefer formulaic Kamen Rider shows. I mean, in the Reiwa era, I skipped both Saber and Geats that are supposedly good because I didn't like much of it, but I loved Zero-One, Revice, and I'm liking this so far. Now, onto the episode of the week : The revelation that Chemy can mix with good people is interesting and it serves to show that sometimes, the will of the Chemy can be in accordance with the will of the user, which means to me that we can very well have Chemies that can be pure evil instead of just being victims. The namedropping of the "Evil Boss" is annoying to me, especially if it's a man. I don't know why, but if it's the case, that irritates me a bit. I would rather have a full evil female team than a man leading girls into a strange war. Anyway, so far, I like what I'm watching. |

So, do you also object to the girl Sophia leading a bunch of dudes at Northern Base?

I mean, look at Saori Kido and her bunch of dudes always willing to sacrifice themselves for her. Yeap...weird. I think it's what you call double standards. A Girl with guys seems ok....A grown man using girls to do his bidding...is...I don't know, I'm imagining someone super creepy... |

I've gotta say, this has been my favorite episode of Gotchard so far.
Along with a clever observation of Ichinose and Kudo's names fitting into the number theme with the Chemies. And some appreciation for Sabimaru opening up (slightly) from the prospect of being a Sempai is adorable. While I know it was more of a gimmick for Wrestler G to be introduced here, I like the idea of a Rider training in combat in some form (yes, I know he did some kendo practice, but still). Something about physical training, even if only to survive a back breaker, is something I appreciate. Regardless of your feelings on Ultraman Leo, I feel it added something some Tokusatsu shows don't really showcase, and that's training, which this episode reminded me of. Now, it does feel like we're slowly reverting back to the "feels very rushed" style some of the Reiwa Riders have suffered in order to introduce new forms as quick as possible before the first big power up makes them obsolete, and that does worry me slightly, but the emotional payoff for this episode was very nice. I hope it doesn't become too rushed, but I hope they at least don't become early Saber levels of rushed or Revice levels of tedious. Also, the sisters have a boss, guess we should have seen that coming. Also, am I the only one for some reason being reminded of Wiseman from Wizard? Next Episode: "Billy! I'm takin' Annabelle away!"

This seems to be why lighthearted ones shows that aren't typically liked, such as Ghost or Saber, get more loved here (with those still being viewed as unpopular opinion) seem to resemble Showa more thus it'd be loved. Saber isn't generally seen as good, it's viewed as another one of Reiwa curse. Quote:

My bad, I should have clarified that better. I didn't mean early Revice specifically (I enjoyed some of those episodes), more like most of the more episodic arcs felt hit or miss. For me, Revice has great set-ups and satisfying conclusions, but the middle portions are where they either feel tedious, rushed, or whatever, hence why I didn't refer to it as "early Revice." (I'd have more to say about Revice, but I don't want to go off topic)

Yeah. I also don't understand why he's bothered by a man being a boss to a group of women. |
