Pestar sits at the exact spot where brilliance meets silliness and I love him for that.

I think the same. The fact that all kaiju have a different source of origin not only creates a rich lore, but also makes the episodes more varied and interesting. This is probably my favorite of the old toku and the first shows in the franchise.

I appreciate that the TPC actually had security around the Neomegas horn, even if it wasn't enough to stop Sphere from creating Sphere Neomegas. But it looks cool!
It seems like everybody in one form or another is determined to get back into space, even Hanejiro. Particularly because he was designed for it, but still. Good intentions are all well and good...but without a firm conviction behind it, does it have the strength to be realized? I wonder if Asuka showing up might be what really helps Kanata realize what his goal is. I love how the biggest evidence of Hanejiro becoming more human-like is his continued sassing of Kanata. Hanejiro straight up yeeting Kanata out of the Gryphon so he could transform into Decker was priceless. This is what happens when your sassy robot buddy knows you're Ultraman. Although he is good at covering for Kanata's transformations. The Sphere have upgraded to supporting their Kaiju now by healing it and straight up attacking Decker now. I guess it's learned that from GUTS-Select. Wow, Decker straight-up got beat! The timer didn't even kick in, he just de-transformed from sheer exhaustion. And then Sphere-Neomegas gets upgraded with Spheresaurus' arms. Nice to see the trios' bond deepening through exercise and the wise words of Kanata's grandpa! They even manage to inspire Hanejiro. Kaizaki looks amazing all decked out in combat gear. Terraphaser gets a proper Mecha launch sequence! Oh hey, look! Random TPC members with actual names! It's kind of surreal to see the TR Mega Buster being used for good again, but it was a pretty spectacular finish. I guess this is kind of "revenge" for Decker finishing the Kaiju last episode, although Decker got some cool moments with the Dual Sword. "They fight like former comrades!" Or present-day comrades. Although I guess in a sense they are a second coming of Dyna and OG!Hanejiro. Everyone talking about how powerful and useful an ally Terraphaser is and I can't help but think the Sphere just saw something they can hijack to service their plans. In hindsight having a robot that needs to be programmed and run maintenance on by an outside party know your secret identity is risky...as Asakage finds out about Kanata being Decker. What will he do with this information? Marluru is the master of the recap comedy episodes! Last edited by Frontier; 09-30-2022 at 08:07 PM.. |

Decker Dynamic's back is more dynamic than the front in terms of colors. Still love it.
Pestar is absolutely one of the most outrageous designs and I love it for that. Also shout out to the person who pointed out Hanejiro with a cold pack when he overheated, that was adorable. Now onto the Decker Episode. Again, I really enjoy Kanata and Hanejiro's dynamic together, ejecting Kanata to transform into Ultraman, and knocking down the robot he's piloting to buy time again, what a pal! Love how Kanata is rubbing off him. I loved how the episode had that first-person night vision sequence for the Sphere reviving Neomegas. Just out of the ordinary perspectives to start out an episode really adds something to them. And Sphere Neomegas kind of reminds me of IF from Nexus how it changes body parts to function for different occasions. It's also something to see a bunch of TPU members fighting with the main characters, which is great to see with Attack Teams like this (shout out to the guy dual wielding rifles). And Terrafaser firing the TR Megabuster was a great scene. Now another person knows of Decker's identity. Wonder how that's going to go. Next Episode: Recap with marluru!

How long do these uploads stay? I want to watch Ultraseven but would prefer to finish Ultraman first which I'm about halfway through.

For an entire year at least. They'll probably start taking it down once the final episode is posted in a month or so later. If where going by what happened to Ace. And what probably going to happen to Mebius soon

Sounds good to me, then I can start watching in a month or so without having to worry that the first few episodes are gone

I watched Shin Ultraman today!
Overall I felt it was... okay. From what I understand, it's essentially taking a handful of classic Ultraman episodes and smooshing them all into one movie, which is really apparent in how the film itself is paced. That's essentially it for my major gripe with it. I did still have fun with it though. The action scenes were all really fun, I had enough fun with the characters to be invested in them, and learning Ultraman's' real name was a nice treat. I definitely gotta remember to make a GIF out of the swingset scene in the future too, haha. But yeah, overall I give it a 3/6. It's not anything incredible, but it's a decent enough time.

Who finalized the name of the defense force/investigation team in Ultraman OG? The official subs opt for SSSP, or "Science Special Search Party". Other translations include "Science Special Investigation Corps".
https://m-78.jp/character/sssp/ P.S.: Decidedly odd how the initials pair with Super Sentai. Even odder that they echo (though I imagine this was unintentional) something that's more terrifying on a historical level. |
