Gundam Wing ep. 18
Ah, it's good to be back. The mediocre dubbing, the retro animation - and of course the Tallgeese being awesome. I loved that scene where Zech's helmet slowly shattered, but I really don't get what caused it. Was it just the sheer amount of Gs that it was being subjected to as he was zipping around? also, i find the dubbing to be pretty good for medium quality dubbing.

Today was a Sailor Moon day. First off, we watched the final disc to the first BD volume. There are some really interesting episodes to be found in that batch, but for the most part, they are some pretty dull episodes.
Then we watched the new episode of Crystal and oh my fucking god, I expected the anime to at least fix the ADD pacing of the episode, but nope. They decided to spend 3 minutes on a transformation sequence rather than actually make the story sensible. This was as much garbage as this very manga chapter. Oh yeah, and Crunchyroll is absolute garbage when it comes to streaming. I haven't been able to watch a single Crystal episode without it either freezing, buffering, going out of HD, since the 8th episode. Thank the gods I use my friend's account as it is not worth paying for myself. |

A few weeks back it got so bad I had to just download the fansub and watch it that way because none of my machines would make it past the 6 minute mark. |

I enjoy Nanoha, I really do, the first show was a compelte surprise, A's was amazing all along and the movies seem to be every bit as good, it's a fun franchise, but there's one installment I've never finished, and with Vivid around the corner I need to.
I've tried on at least 5 different times to watch Strikers, and I have failed every single time, the changes are not what bother me, the time skip is fine by me, the new cast is likeable as well, magic as technology is something I totally dig, and the Bureau has always been a cool aspect of the canon. But I can't get into the pacing, 6 episodes in nothing noteworthy has happened, the first season introduced Fate early on, A's brought the Belkan Knights to the spotlight even faster, so I can't understand why Strikers has wasted all it's time on nothing but training sequences and fights against gadgets, heck, both ideas sound good on paper, training is something the previous cast never really did, and the gadgets having anti magic is very interesting, but ultiamtely the training is repetitive and boring and the gadgets are nowhere near as dynamic as real foes would be. 6 episodes might sound like nothing, but that's half of either Nanoha or A's, shows that knew where they wanted to go and did so with great pace, Strikers has interesting ideas and the combat style of the new gang is really good, but dang, it is a struggle to watch it. And while we are at it, on a completely biased note, I am still mad after all these years that Hayate is permanently stuck behind a desk. |
