Pretty good second episode. I do have some minor nitpicks like, what even happened to the Mantis Stamp, and so on. But other than that, solid showing for Ikki and Vice in them trying to figure out how to work through their partnership.
Also I know a King Ghidorah when I see it, that is not a three headed crane in the slightest. Though I'm a bit worried we're running through our Monsters a tad too fast. Thankfully we're getting victims of the week at least. |

First of all, I want to note that GenmCorp were a LOT faster uploading subs this time -- only 6 hours after Izu in fact, and about 14 hours after the episode itself aired! It looks like they might be a quick option this time around rather than waiting until Monday as it looked last week. Jaws hasn't uploaded theirs yet but I assume it'll be either tomorrow or Tuesday, and I might just watch theirs too? Is this who I'm becoming now? The watch-multiple-times-for-different-subs girl?
Well, it's a good thing I'm definitely loving Revice enough to watch each episode twice! There's so many little things in this episode that added up to something crazy and something wholly unique from past series. I love how the toys have increased interaction with the real world outside the drivers and weapons (The ViStamp having Vice possess a bike! The phone gun being used as a gun by Fenix!), in a way that feels both downright Early Heisei yet also beyond even that. I love how the Remixes aren't, like, Revi and Vice doing a silly pose and that's supposed to be them combining into a dinosaur; no, it is literally just them doing a silly pose that somehow makes them more powerful, and it's barely pretending to be an actual animal! I love how Revi and Vice fighting around like idiots has them accidentally activate the driver! I love how utterly striking the OP is, how different it seems to everything around it. Like... just in general, I love how much all these elements are highlighting the actual real humans here? After so many shows where everyone with the slightest plot relevance gets to be a Rider (unless they're a girl), you've got the OP focusing on the family; you've got grunts doing fighting; you've got normal people kicking and punching; you've got the ViStamps doing things not directly related to a Driver or a weapon finisher. It all feels so much more real and natural and well-integrated, which also feeds into how strong the characterisation for even minor players is so far. I'm just... I'm really feeling it! I'm loving watching Kamen Rider again!!

The Remixes are like this perfect physical representation of the show's premise. There's Revi and Vice, and when they work in sync with each other, they become Kamen Rider Revice. It's neat.

I'm digging this show quite a bit. Like, I doubt it will be an all-time favorite for me, but it is just a blast to watch. There are already lots of shades of things that will probably become very interesting down the line, like Ikki and Vice's seemingly unusual relationship that other people in the world don't seem to have with THEIR inner demons. Vice himself is one of those characters I feel like I should hate for being incredibly annoying, yet somehow wraps back around to being charming. I think my only major complaint is that the cinematography during the fights is super disorienting to me. Really looking forward to seeing the world fleshed out more as the show goes along.

To add on to that, it's also rather brilliant for both the suit designs and the toys. Not only do the suits have to incorporate elements of their animal forms, they also make for a rather fun toy gimmick.

I'm liking the show, but it's still rough around the edges. Vice is a little much, but at the very least his 4th wall breaks here actually made sense, rather than just making random commentary to the audience for no reason.
I'm still somewhat wary of Ikki. I'm just really afraid this bathhouse plot will go on for too long, since it has the chance of becoming hella repetitive. At the very least, even if he didn't sign the contract, he still dashed into battle on his bike, so we'll see how this turns out. OP was okay. Beginning was pretty good, but as it went on, it really started to just become a mess before picking back up around the end.

But for the bathhouse, I'm pretty sure this will be present regularly throughout the year as it's kind of the primary setting of the show (like Touma's house or SoL southern base last year or Aruto's office in Zero one) and also where his family literally lives. And the pun of the bathhouse and "fight/battle" being "Sento" in Japanese is probably too good to not be used regularly. |

I actually have some faith about bathhouses sticking around as a major theme for longer then a lot of rider series manage with their side themes, mainly because... uh, if you look at the writer's twitter he seems kinda excessively enamored with them. And by interview, the idea to include them was apparently originally his, so...

I forgot who pointed it out when we started getting info about this show, but I love how Revi got the aesthetics down of the legacy riders while Vice represents by donning their colors.
