Throughout the history of Western Anime Dubs and Tokusatsu Adaptations from Godzilla to Power Rangers, the context and dialogue are routinely changed to localize the material for audiences who won't follow the original cultural context.
Does this practice run the risk of being a potentially harmful form of cultural appropriation or even "cultural misappropriation"? Granted, many such instances are done when Western companies make legal distribution deals with the owners of the material they intend to dub or sub or adapt, but does that truly make things better? Could such fears be influencing Hasbro? Is it better to just sub a Sentai and let PR do its own thing? |

Well Mega Force Part 1 is a good case of this. The heaven / angel theme had been changed out. The USA will come up with a new theme for Western viewers. Samurai kept most everything intact.
They sort of blew it with Ninja Steel. Beast Morpher kept the Messiah cyber plot intact from Go Busters. In a lot of cases Power Rangers doesn't change too much with some aspects while making an original story for the US. Dino Fury was dreasticly different. In Ryu Soul a person's life force was used to create a Sporix Beast.
