That's... very far from one of those things.

Yeah no that one is very on point. In a franchise with musical demons and video game doctors the season with the most back-to-basics bugman designs is probably the weirdest

That said, art direction is one of the best in the series. Suit designs and their gimmicks, impressive back then still is to this day. AND THE OPENING THEME. Probably one of the best out of the first 10 shows. But yeah it has its flaws.

I wonder if the aesthetics of Kabuto were an explicit reaction to Hibiki. Hibiki is very, very far removed from the traditional bugmen, and thus Kabuto overcompensates the other way, going for incredibly insect themed designs with the protagonist himself pretty much working as an upgrade to Stronger.

I admittedly don't know how successful Kabuto was financially, but it was successful enough for them to make the mega cash cow Den-O, and I guess that's what matters.

Kabuto sold badly as well it was the 2nd lowest season behind Hibiki. And I think that's important as Den-O was really the first time Rider was in a long while and probably contributed why Den-O got so much content.

Y'know, looking at this list, it's really interesting how suddenly in recent years the last quarter of a Rider toyline has started to do EXTREMELY well. Zi-O's sales especially are almost a palindrome. I can't actually think of anything differently they've been doing late-game since Ex-Aid aside from the odd Premium Bandai item which is definitely the most niche part of their toylines, so what's going on?!

No? The chart accounts for that and is in order as shown. Look at the months beside each quarter. Unless you think they randomly are only showing Zero-One's third quarter...?
