NHK held a big Super Sentai poll that took place between April 6th till May 6th. The final results have been announced. I'm only listing the top 20 for the sake of trimming. Check the links for the full results
Sentai Shows 1-20
Sentai Heroes 1-100
Sentai Robots 1-50

FYI, as far as I can tell, they only listed the top 20 for each.
Definitely some huge recency bias in these polls, though I love how Gokaiger and Shinkenger still dominate these. |

Wow, the results of this poll feel a bit odd compared to the Kamen Rider and Ultraman ones. The recency bias is much stronger in this one, perhaps due to having more young voters? I remember the other polls has some interesting demographics info charts about the age and gender of voters, so I hope they broadcast those for this series too. I also wish the Sentai shows ranking showed more than 20 entries, since the series has so many works.
As for the results themselves, I'm surprised at how enduring Shinkenger's popularity is...and at how Carranger didn't rank. Also Sun Vulcan and Goranger are the only Shows Sentai to rank. Might have to bump Sun Vulcan up higher on my watch list... Last edited by GoldenXtreme; 05-18-2025 at 08:22 AM.. |

There were some statistics shown during the live show were the top results were announced. For the overall voting, it's about a 40% to 50% split between female and male voters, with the largest demographic being those in their 20s and 30s. For individual show statistics, we have some for ToQger and Boonboomger, where both had a larger percentage of female voters, with ToQger demographic trending towards those in their teens (so likely kids who watched ToQger in their youth) and Boonboomger demographic trending towards those in their 30s.

Also interesting how Boonboomger has SO many female fans. Toei really seems to be trying to court the female demographic lately, so maybe fans of more modern shows just have more women in general? It's all interesting food for thought, regardless of how you read into it.

I assume, from the female demographics in their 20s and 30s, some may be mothers who watch sentai shows on a regular basis on Sunday mornings along with their kids. Because that was apparently the case after Gao Silver debuted in Gaoranger, circa 2001, last I heard. But like you said, probably has to do with the characters and tone of the show.

My favorite Sentai robo couldn't even crack top 50. Feels bad.
Anyway, the most surprising thing for me is Gorenger placing so high. Compared to Kamen Rider, the Gorengers don't get nearly as much love. Ichigou and the other Showa Riders will get several specials and anniversaries (Especially during the 2010s), whereas the Gorengers will appear in mass crossovers, and Akarenger might get a line. So for a series that isn't kept in public consciousness nearly as much as OG KR, I'm surprised it placed so well
