Is there any info on whether all of the buckles are going to get a DX version? I tried looking around but could only see the SG and GP versions releasing soon. Maybe it doesn't matter since they look pretty much the same as the DX versions, so I'm happy to get either one instead. Though maybe there's some sound or light aspect that I'm not realizing?

The differences between SG/GP/DX versions of Bandai Narikiri toys can be deceiving. Functionally they can be identical, but the actual internals are very different.
For Shift Cars, the GP versions used a single piece flexible plastic ring with notches to produce the click. While the DX versions used a multi-piece plastic mechanism with a spring. The latter design being way more durable and feeling more satisfying even though they both essentially do the same thing. Lock Seeds are similar, with the DX versions having a complex spring and notch system, while the SG relied on plastic tension. But yeah, stuff like the Buckles and Sentai Gears are so simple that's probably not a worry. Though I do understand that the buckles have moving parts so you never know until one is opened up!

Thanks for the info, both of you! With the recent Avataro Gears, I was feeling silly not just getting the SG sets instead of the DX ones since they are basically identical. But, yeah, with other stuff like the Saber WonderRide books, I did feel like the DX were a worthwhile upgrade. So now I've been trying to be on the lookout for the non-DX stuff as the ease (since they tend to come bundled) and price of collecting the SG or GP versions is pretty appealing.

I am hoping that there will be a DX Saber Buckle from the Geats line.

I just saw a few places (such as Tokullectibles) has up the "Mission Box Storage Box & DX Kabuto Zector Raise Buckle" which seems to be a Premium Bandai thing. It looks quite expensive at 8250JPY (or 105USD in the case of Tokullectibles). The box it includes is also a foldable cloth box rather than a hard plastic one like the other DX sets shown so far.
Not quite sure if this will be worth the price when you can get other DX sets like the one with the W buckle and a plastic - rather than cloth - box for less than half of that. |

It's always a bummer when the a Legend Rider item is tied to some P-Bandai exclusive non-item.
As someone who collects Kabuto Legend Rider items this makes me sad

You can also get it with a Kabuto shirt!

Just wanted to comment about the belt connectors for the Desire Driver, since I got mine in recently.
I noticed that previous belts don't quite connect correctly to the new driver as the Desire Driver seems to have some kind of slightly tweaked design. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is but previous belts like from the Saber driver as well as one of those third-party CSM-style belts don't seem to be able to actually click fully into the belt. I wonder why the design was updated as I can't see any major difference other than maybe the size of the pins that connect the belt to the driver. Last edited by arkh; 09-21-2022 at 12:05 PM.. |

Having gotten the DX Zero-One buckle, GP Demons Driver Buckle, and SG Libera Driver Buckle. All three seem pretty much identical in construction and materials other than the respective colors and imagery. Will take a thorough look tomorrow.

Yeah, unless I'm mistaken, all of the main belts since Gaim have been standardized in terms of the connections and size of the belt adjustment holes. I think there are differences with some of the non-main-Rider belts like the Shot Riser from Zero-One, for example. But aside from those, all the belts from each main driver are interchangeable. I don't own everything though, so I could be wrong.
