HasLab Unicron! (Kingdom Core Megatron for scale and laughs) Spent an hour on Thursday transforming him. The planet mode is awe-inspiring in person. It's this daunting sphere of menace, and it's ridiculous to be in the presence of. If I had the clearance to put a 30"-tall toy (from bottom of base to top of spire) on top of any of my shelves, that's how I'd keep him. But I don't, so he lives in robot mode. The transformation is time-consuming, but not arduous. Took me about an hour to transform him, and it's mostly because he's so goddamn massive that little movements take a bunch of work. He's not a toy that you reposition to get at different parts; you need to reposition yourself to manipulate him. Thankfully, you can transform him while he stays attached to his stand (you kind of have to do it that way, or it's like changing a baby while you're carrying it) so it's mostly just a matter of finding a table that you can walk around to get at different sides. He is 100% a shellformer, in case there was any question about that. His limbs are balled up inside the sphere, and the sphere layers up into different piles that attach to his back and legs. The head is a completely separate piece that attaches after you transform him. The spires of planet mode detach as Step One, and then get reshaped and plugged back in as the final step. It's not a particularly clever or satisfying transformation, but it's also not the frustrating ordeal that recent Masterpieces have been. It's a process, and a long one, but not a difficult one. In the end, he looks comically massive on top of my display cases. He makes Titan Class figures look anemic and sad by comparison. He's almost stupidly impressive. Not the best toy or anything, but a hell of a piece to add to a collection. Quote:
It looks quite impressive. However, it's prize and comical size is what puts me off from grabbing one.
I remember I stopped grabbing too many 3rd party figures because their complex transformations kept me from fiddling with them, but in this case, I think I just don't have the drive to transform a toddler sized figure P. S.: Wonder if they'll one day modernize the Cybertron tank design!? |

My brother (Fuck You Casey) got me the Rozen Zulu Clear version in the Theater Exclusive box from what I can understand. He got me this because he knows I hate Gundam Unicorn designs (for the most part), so he got me the one suit with annoying noodle stickers that happens to be purple. The clear plastic scares me.

I'm still sad over New Gundam Breaker. It was the first real Gundam game we got for the PC and it was such a disaster! My biggest fear is that is scared Bandai Namco off of PC ports.
I would have been happy with a Gundam Break 3 port to PC. Now that is an awesome game!

Is there a good resource for buying older Transformers figures other than eBay of course.
I'm looking for the Deluxe Classics Grimlock and some older RID 2001 figures.

Storefronts like TFSource and TransformerLand are pretty solid. Both are really good about making sure you know what you're getting, and TFSource allows for alerts if you're looking for something they're out of stock on. Of the two, TransformerLand has a lot more RID 2001 stuff right now. The main thing I'd suggest, though, is the TFW2005 B/S/T thread. I was looking to build out a collection a few years back, and I was able to get nearly everything I was looking for, at really good prices. (Plus, it's nice to know you're getting it from another fan.) Totally worth a search to see if you can score some deals.

I know one good place if you are looking for Unicron Trilogy stuff. If you have a 2nd & Charles not to far from you they are not bad. Prices very but I did end up with a nice little haul for $100.

Honestly, I'd say either BST threads on forums like TFW2005 or sellers on Facebook would be your best bet for good deals.

If you're still looking for War For Cybertron Rung and you have an Ollie's nearby, they're starting to show up for $4.99.
