There have been many criticisms about this franchise, and one of the weirdest is that some parents in decades past PREFERRED Rita over Lord Zedd cause Rita was comical and over the top compared to Zedd's initial portrayal before he too became a more comic relief villain.

The weirdest thing about this statement to me is the speed of the reaction. I mean, Zedd stopped being a fearsome villain a couple of episodes after his debut, so when did the parents even have time to get upset?

It was probably within those first several episodes.

Remember, The Mutiny did something unique for its time and aired during primetime on Fox. Zedd's visceral appearance and his overall vindictiveness towards Rangers and Rita and even Goldar in those first episodes was probably all it took.

Yes, now I understande. In my country PR was shown in blocks of 5-6 episodes, so it did not have such an effect.
