I don't know what to think after seeing the trailer.
Mostly Im happy. I thought after the Jinga spin-off, the Gekko no Tabibito movie, Versus Road and then COVID happening, all hope would be lost to get a new live-action series. --------- Jinga was kind of a flop because of the lack of money (probably because the 3 mentioned projects were all released in the span of 2 years) but featured a fan favorite character. I would need to rewatch it but I vaguely remember the fight scenes not being as "clean" as other GARO series (I mean like lot of shaky cam and stuff) The movie was cool, mostly because it was pure OG GARO fanservice, no b*llshit, we give you what you want, on steroids. and Versus Road was... Versus Road... Lot of people dislike it. I was the same at first. Then wondered why and realized I had no reason to dislike it. - A refreshing setting for the franchise, closer to us. - well written characters - Good fight scenes. Refreshing battle scenes because the series focused on out-of-suit fights (and not the armor or CGI-big-monster b*llshit) and a different fighting style for each main characters. with a big nod to that precise point in the last fight scene of the series, but I won't say more. ------------ But yeah because of these + Covid I thought Amemiya Keita would not do a new live action series and would just concentrate on promoting the past shows on the youtube channel etc... Im glad I was wrong and a new show is coming. Now that being said... I don't know how to explain, there's something off with the trailer. But I have difficulties explaining why. It's like you're served your favorite dish, everything looks okay, the smell too. But something is different. Or at least the pleasure is not 100% here. Maybe that's because Ryuga is here and no one else seem to return. No Jinga/Amiri. that's okay. I love them but they overused them. No Ryume (well like Matsunoi Miyavi she got a kid in the recent years so okay) No Aguri and Takeru, I know why. Real life stuff. But no Rian ? hmmm. or maybe it's because the premise of the show is too similar to Goldstorm Sho. Ryuga goes to a new city, meets new characters among which is a "not friendly guy at first" guy who will be the "everything-revolves-around-me" guy by the end. Gald was kinda like this in Goldstorm and Shirahane Soma here give me that vibe. I'm afraid to go through the experience I had when I watched Makai no Hana (which is at the bottom of my GARO shows list). Like the setting was similar to OG GARO, obv because of Raiga being the son of the OG characters, but in the end everything was different. To continue with the previous analogy, the dish looked and smelled the same but once the spoon is in your mouth that's obviously not what you wanted. At all. Hope Im wrong and the show will be fun. I'm a simple guy. and in the end a GARO show only has to have 2 ingredients to please me. A cool JAM Project Intro song with an epic instrumental version for the fights scenes and good out-of-suit fight scenes. If they focused on that, that's already a win. If they focused on that, that's already a win. which they could be setting up the spin off jinga to lead into the next Garo season with a new char. Which its possible they planed to do I think this is the last season with Ryuga before its passed onto another Garo who will have Jinga as a part of his story. Now at the end of the jinga spin off we did see Jinga's coat glow gold. So hopefully we get some DAMN INFO ABOUT THAT |
