I had no interest in most of the Lightning Collection besides monsters, (and Operation Overdrive because of my love for Boukenger) but that Alpha with the Dragon Shield kinda sold it for me.

I got this guy for Christmas, and I love him. Just wish it was easier to make him hold his teddy bear.

I have always hated the 90s cheesiness of mmpr, especially its original characters. I despised alpha and zordon for the lack of any meaningful addition to the story, and because alpha was extremely unlikable and inept for a support android to a group of super heroes. However, i will say that hasbro did a great job with the figure. The new engineering on alpha, the use of a plastic floating crotch piece and the level of paint is just great. Really glad that hasbro is continuing to up the design and engineering of the line, and alpha really shows it. However, zordon is a laughable attempt at best. He was always a floating head and his likeness so easy to recreate since thats all he was, a head, yet hasbro made him look like some horrible experiement in a jar. The lights are terrible and with their budgets they could've at least painted him or added another light. But "budget cuts" i guess. At least alpha looks great. Hope those who got him like him and others are able to secure a copy.

Didn't Alpha only have that teddy bear in like, 3 episodes? Kind of an odd thing to include. Though I guess Alpha doesn't exactly have a ton of options accessory wise.
Alpha with Dragon Shield looks like something the comics would legit do, btw :lol |
Alpha looks great (Dragon Shield Alpha is amazing btw), so I'm really hoping they rerelease him in the usual waves, because Hasbro UK just skipped this set straight out. Call it Alpha 6 (or Alpha 7, if you to make a super deep cut for no reason), throw in a new accessory, hey presto time to buy him again.

Its a nice set, considering its actually in the larger scale line for once.

Alpha 5's is curved and flanked by notches and sockets: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikiped...gersAlpha5.jpg Whereas Alpha-6's is straight and surrounded by yellow highlights: https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/po.../8/8e/0842.jpg Also the hands are different - they switch from black with red patches to predominantly gold. |
I imagine all of that would come to painted detail, right? So it seems that actually it would be pretty easy to put a 6 out in the mainline! Heck, they could potentially make him a bigger 'accessory pack' with more blade modes for the sword/gun.

Having an Alpha release that's literally a glorified accessory pack for other Rangers would be pretty cool. You could have more hands, or a holstered Blade Blaster, or even Zeo Blue's' tonfas.
