Toei unveil TOEI TOKUSATSU WORLD OFFICIAL
2 Attachment(s)
A new channel featuring 70 different shows is coming GLOBALLY to YouTube on 6th April 2020!
The first two episodes of each show will land with a range of subtitles, with Toei making a “public call” for subs on further episodes. |
I didn't know Voltes V was tokusatsu. :lolol
Contenmaru......
Now this sounds promising. Easily accessible Toku with English subtitles. I just hope the entirety, or at least the majority of their offerings will be available in the EU.
Hopefully. I took it to mean things like potentially Juspion not being available in the US because of the BD release for example.
Would be nice if they used this is a viable way to have the rest of the world get the original Kamen Rider. |
So wait, if I'm reading this right; does 'public call' mean that fans have to make subs themselves past the first 2 episodes???

I think fans added subs to Ultraman R/B episodes that were officially added to YouTube. |
Now, this is exciting.
That's neat. I have a feeling this might be to help people trapped at home due to the pandemic. Which is great. The more free content to consume the better.

Either way, I'm very happy that 2020 seems to be turning into the "Year of Toku." |
Who did they hire to get this genius plan fired up? Whoever it is, that person should get a raise.
Toei REALLY is pushing for Toku in the West now. From the new channel on Pluto TV to now the YouTube approach. Sgt Frog's Space Sheriff jokes will finally make more sense to more people.
Interesting, but please say this is actually global. Few of the other 'toku in the west' things were really just the US.
They said it won't be available in every region so I'm going to fucking cry. Also I swear that their pictures show Kamen Rider Shin
That's really exciting! Hopefully this does well enough to do subtitles for more than just the first couple episodes!

Sweet~
Curious, but I don't know whether to be happy or skeptical!
It sounds as though certain shows/episodes will be available on a global scale while some will remain locked. It could then become a "try-n-succeed" VS. "try-n-fail". Those who have success may have to share what works where at any one time. |

I mean, it's a start right?
I decided to look around Youtube itself, and managed to find the channel:
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC7p...Lex3w/featured interesting thing to note, if you go to the About section, the channel was apparently created Dec 19th 2019, implying that Toei have been toying with this idea for a little while now. |

Can't believe that, within a week of the OG Kamen Rider getting official subs, now we're getting Shin. Truly, great Rider content.
Yooooooo! This is gonna be awesome!
They just launched a shitton of this about half an hour ago and it doesn't seem to be regionlocked

Sentai is region locked, Hasbro might have something to do with IDK, B-Fighter and the Metal Heroes shows used for VR Troopers are also not watchable outside Asia.
I hope Toei put much more and is about damn time.
Now I sit and wait for more episode of Poitrine. XD
Can’t watch Goranger here in Belgium...I wonder if Hasbro is behind this...
Can't watch any Ranger shows in the USA. Sorry everybody I tried.
Rider may be due to Shout Factory possibly. All others are a go. Unless Ultra Man gets blocked. |

I'm also thinking Hasbro may have put a global block on the Ranger shows as well. Unless maybe at some point Shout might release them on DVD. We did get all of Saban Era I and the 1st 2 Jetix shows through Hurricane Ranger. The DVD releases could be the reason for the block on You Tube. All the 90s shows got released (Except for 5 Man). Jet Man was 1991. Time Ranger was the last one from the 90s in 2000.
So what will happen to the original plan of fan-submitted translations now that Youtube is removing this feature?

I then shifted to Bicrosser, Ep. 1 and had the obligatory subtitles. P.S.: I fully recommend Bicrosser now! I'm in something of a mental funk right now, and Bicrosser was a welcome surprise. |

So, while looking up some stuff on Kamen Rider, I learned of another Toku series called Henshin Ninja Arashi. Sounded neat, so I crossed my fingers and hoped it was one of the many many releases this channel had. Lo and behold, the first two episodes, right there.
It's pretty solid, and I enjoyed it. Granted, I only watched the first episode, but still, it was a solid start, and I do hope to see the entire series uploaded! |
Should Toei have a official page on facebook as well ?
