Media Blaster teases 90's Trilogy Rider
https://m.facebook.com/1035916943735...4011821998167/
On the one hand it weird that somebody else is handling the release then Shout Factory but on the other hand Media Blaster is I believe region free and generally well regarded with quality releases. |
I swear to God if this is a troll post, I will burn every Media Blasters disc I've ever bought.
This right here has been my holy grail of toku I've wanted to own. ZO is my favorite Rider movie of all time. I need it. |

And now they're tweeting about The First and The Next. That's 5 films now.

Consider me RIDICULOUSLY excited!! A quality region-free boxset of that trilogy is, like, an absolute dream for me. The fact it’s not SHOUT has me confused but hey, I’ll take it if it’s good!
|
Oh... oh this is interesting now.
|
Shout has no exclusivity over the franchise, otherwise Agito wouldn't be trapped on the hellhole that is TokuHD.
|
Man, 2022 is going to be one hell of a year for a lot of Kamen Riders fans out there.
|
The Neo Showa Trilogy is a welcome addition to my collection, as it's some of the best Tokusatsu films I've seen, not counting Kaiju Eiga.
The Frist and The Next, however... While I think The First is okay, and probably my favorite of the two, The Next, I'm afraid, I'm not too big a fan of. But all in all, we're getting closer to more western releases for Rider, and I can't wait for when or if the Showa seasons get physical releases. |
This set's an immediately buy whenever they decide to announce and release it.
I adore Shin. I really enjoyed J and ZO. And I'm very interested in seeing what The First and The Next did. Having the chance to own them all subbed? Absolutely. |
It appears obvious that the distribution of Rider is now dependent on who is willing to make the better deal first! SHOUT! hasn't abandoned the plan, but others like TOKUHD are willing to scoop in if they don't move quick enough or don't make the right offer. Still confusing as Toei uploaded all three to YT long before this broke, so could Media Blaster try to release more material that was already self-released by Toei already? Is Rider Distribution prompting a potential "Bidding War" between multiple players?
|
Very excited for this set. Loved The First and J, and will be happy to own the rest.
|
I mean, it makes perfect sense for Media Blasters to snatch these films up. Not only did they previously release Kamen Rider The First on DVD many years ago but they also have the current rights to Hakaider, which capped out Keita Amemiya's trilogy of Super Hero Fair films. And if you get ZO, J, and The First, then you might as well get The Next and Shin if they're being offered.

I would definitely buy a blu-ray set of these films. Consider my interest piqued. |
That seems interesting. All 3 of the 90s films had their pros and cons for me (I still haven't got round to the First or the Next!), plus if someone only knew about Power Rangers they wouldn't be quite so used to seeing the henshin hero subgenre in movie form so that's cool! Although technically Toei has put the 90s movies on YouTube but it's always nice to have a proper DVD!

If they could include SD and World I would be even more ecstatic; but even as-is this is amazing and an insta-buy. Anything else at this point is gravy!
|
I wish Arrow got the rights to the 90s Kamen Rider movies instead. They would be releasing it for the European market, and they have more bonus content on their discs. Not to mention, they are less sloopy with their discs.

Confirmed the Kamen Rider World special will be included |
Fans wait several years for subbed DVDs, and suddenly we get a tonne at once. And this is a very exciting set! All 3 of the 90's Rider movies are good times, and having them on DVD so it's not at the whims of Toei Tokusatsu World is an even bigger win.

Johnny strikes again Media Blaster and possibly anyone else can't touch Kamen Rider G rights

Has any more info come out about this?
|
Unfortunately no :( which is weird because allegedly release was meant to be this year
|
Yeah, and the year that they are supposed to be released is already more than halfway over, what’s up with that?
|
My sets I have are region free. Zen is in great shape considering where I sourced it from. I have an HD TV running which bumps up the quality and my player does 1080 so double advantage to me.

Things take time. I don't mind waiting because I hate having a rush release.
|
To put things into perspective, Shout! Factory announced they had licensed Kamen Rider Zero-One in April 2021. It didn't come out on Blu-Ray until January 2022.
I guarantee you that it's just Toei dragging their feet as they always do. They are undoubtedly going over Media Blasters' translation, menu designs, cover designs, etc. with a fine tooth comb. Keep in mind this is the same company that put out a DVD of Godzilla Vs. Megalon with unauthorized special features, which completely destroyed their relationship with Toho. |
