So we can see from the pics that out of the 4, Zyuran and Vroom are the ones with sound gimmicks as well as the component that has the Zenkaioh head.
|
Sooo...no full-on Megazord combination?

Those Change Heroes figures look TINY! Like, Transformers Micromasters tiny or something.
|
How big are the Change Heroes guys going to be? Zenkaiser's SO-DO joints lead me to believe they're SO-DO size but the packaging and the joints on the Zenkaibots make me think otherwise.

we have rediscovered the lost art of SYMMETRICAL DOCKING!

Wow. Hard pass on everything. Wanna hide the Zenkai Tyranno head? Simply turn it around!
I thought Transformers had hollow spots, but this takes it. |
I'm excited to get these dx releases but I'll definitely get the minipla mech first when they come out. The faces on zenkai oh remind me of transformers. Mostly the decepticons
|
The Zords not looking great. Looks like not a lot of work was put in to them. But i still like what i see. Sp far.
|
Tiny dinosaur legs are adorable! Hahaha.
I'm not so hot on these toys, they look kind of fragile to me. I'll keep my peace until I see the suits in the show though, as I don't have an especial interest in collecting the toys. |
Oof. Concept art seemed cool so I was hoping that it meant that these dx toys would actually stop sucking. But man, plex just keeps getting lazier and lazier with these transformations. Like hiding the head inside the chest via a hinge isn't exactly some breakthrough piece of engineering so I'm not sure why they decided to just turn the head for the daizyujin robo and leave it as is for dino mode. The robot to alt mode transformations are reaching gundam transformation levels of half assed.
|
I feel like Zyurangaoh works the best, since the designs are less clunky and work together better (probably because they're retools of each other.
|
i want all of these
|
The DX toys definitely look like DX toys!
I'm hoping the Minipla is good. The listings for the Minipla show 3 sets. I think the first two match the DX paired sets, so I wonder what the third one is. |
So going back to my previous statement, yeah, the change heroes are definitely just SO-DO figures with SHODO-quality paint jobs, especially knowing that their size is no different. Seriously, saving costs are one thing, but it is kinda peeving me that they only paint the front and not the back, which I have been told and found out is prevelant in most of their action figures these days sans the high tier ones such as figuarts.
|
I like the idea, but the execution is lacking. This is definitely normal Bandai when it comes to robots that convert into animals/vehicles.
Combined modes are...Decent. Zyuran Gaon looks pretty bad with how lanky the legs are. Magine's dragon legs and Vroon's extra wheel piece really help bulk up the legs on any combo their in. Finally, I'm not a fan of their combined mode's heads. They just look blah. I'll look and see if the Minipla is any better, though. |
I like when they try something new that doesn't over-simplify things. But oof those price points are high. I hope it's because they're normal-sized again and not tiny like Kiramager's mecha.
I, for one, welcome symmetrical docking, swappable combos, and any reference to Magiranger. Just show me that they'll combine with later mecha and I'm 100% sold |
I like the designs but not the toys. Hopefully the minipla look better (they almost always do)
That Zenkaiser, though. |
I wonder if the Change Heroes toys means we won't be getting Yu-Do figures.
|
I'm curious who at PLEX thought the turned-around Zyuran head was okay. Since the Change Hero mecha don't need to combine, I'd have expected them to put a little more effort into making Zyuran's head look not-disastrous, and to generally having better animal/vehicle forms, but it looks like only Magine manages that.
Since I looked at the images before reading anything, I briefly didn't notice that the Change Heroes and DX Mecha are different toys. I'm now very curious as to whether there will be general confusion among parents, since the DX and Change Hero figures look very similar. |
Considering the sheer price and size difference, I doubt there'd be very many moments of confusion.
Don't get me wrong, there probably be some mistaken purchases for little Takahashi, but I think most parents would be able to recognize the differences. |
Yes this is why the change hero figures are in a blister package and DX has always and will always be in those boxes.
|
Is this just a part of the line with deluxe versions yet to be announced? These look Hasbro quality.

Is it just me, or do the "mismatched" combinations look better than the default ones? Of course this is subjective, but to me it looks like Yellow/Red is too bare and makes it obvious how similar the two halves are, Pink/Blue is too cluttered with both halves' kibble and their aesthetics are wildly different, but Pink/Red and Yellow/Blue have just the right amount of kibble and the aesthetics of the two halves are close enough to go together but not identical.
|
I really like this. But, I wonder what will the basis for the white Zenkaiger's look be? As (I will just call them by their colors and their other form as their real names are hard to remember) Red Tyranno is based upon the Zyuranger's main mecha, Yellow Lion is based upon Gao Lion, Pink Dragon is based upon the Magiranger mecha, and Blue Vehicle is based upon, err, I don't remember. Plus, these are basically Transformers Duocons combined with the Kamen Rider Double form of combining. While being Super Sentai Mecha. I really want to see the other ones.
|
Blue is Daibouken from Boukenger.
And I think Zenkaizer's mech will likely be a jet, considering he's based on 2 series who had attack jets instead of giant robots. |
Soooo....
GaoGaiGar? Symmetrical docking? Also, how can a series from over 20 years ago make better looking figures than these with the same premise? |
Though I wonder, how will the other Mecha be? As in what will they be based off of? And will the Zenkaigers get new forms based upon other Riders/Mecha?

As for the other mecha, it's just a wait and see kinda thing. I wouldn't be surprised if they went with the weapons route, though. |

I guess I could see the two default combinations as, like, representing the different philosophies people can take when designing Sentai robos and other combining mecha? With Zyuran/Gaon, they have the components transform very similarly as they combine, prioritize giving the combination a unified overall appearance, and keep the kibble to a minimum. And with Vroon/Magine, the components transform in different ways, the resulting combination incorporates different aesthetics, and it's decked out with extra attachments. (And my preference for the two mismatched combos represents how going too far towards any extreme can lead to a bad design XD) I'm probably reading deeper into this than I really need to, but it's kinda neat. |
