Power Rangers Dino Charge 5" Sledge Gallery
39 Attachment(s)
When Power Rangers Dino Charge first began to leak, we discovered through casting calls and credits that there was a new villain called Sledge. Not only was he a new villain, he was the new MAIN villain, replacing the Kyoryuger counter-part known as Chaos (who is rumored to appear in Dino Supercharge but we won't know for awhile yet if that's true or not). And when Bandai America announced villain toys and then revealed him at Toy Fair 2015, fans were all abuzz with excitement!
So how does the toy of the new Power Rangers-created villain stand up? Let's find out! The Figure This is another figure that features great articulation. You have the standard 13 points of articulation (head, 2 on each arm, forearms, 2 on each leg, knees), and my all time favorite part about this figure - his shoulders are designed NOT to hinder his arm articulation! The shoulder pads, as shown in one of the pictures, actually can pull back (they are attached further down his arm) which allows you to get some great poses with his arms that do not have the shoulder pads blocking your path. As always, the paint applications are weak, almost to the point that it ruins the figure. The armor is a bright rust orange instead of being a muted rust orange like in the show, and his skin is way too neon green (it should be a bit softer to match the show). So Sledge is very bright as a toy, none of his computer contraptions on his body are painted, and the backside of the figure (as standard in Bandai America releases) is not painted at all, almost ruining the majesticness of the sculpting of the figure. Sculpting wise he's pretty spot-on, and the added "cracks" and "dents" in his armor are a nice touch. He has scales on his arms (just like the show), and he even has detail on his "dreadlock tentacle" hair. Speaking of - that tentacle does stop some articulation on the head as you can't easily wrap the tentacle around his shoulders because they're so bulky. His legs also get hindered a bit because his waist is so huge. Overall, he feels heavy and bulky, with enough articulation that isn't hindered to make him feel like a pretty strong figure. The Accessories He comes with his blaster that fits in to a molded hole in his right wrist. Mine fits snugly but I've seen reports of others where the peg isn't large enough and thus it falls out constantly. The blaster itself is molded in the soft plastic and I assume the mold wasn't strong - I have a noticeable crack in the weapon from the plastic molding (see picture). The Good
The Bad
Overall Conclusion This isn't a home-run figure by any means, but it's also not a bad figure. For a "main villain" figure Sledge does a pretty good job of delivering what you'd hope for. The issues I have with the figure can easily be fixed by painting him yourself or simply never using his blaster accessory. He is currently available both in the last wave of Power Rangers Dino Charge as well as a case assortment in either Target or Toys'R'Us that have the Power Rangers Dino Supercharge figures in stock. Sledge is a must-buy for a Power Rangers fanatic, but a figure that an average collector doesn't necessarily need to dish out anything more than what retail is for him. |
Sledge looks great and I hope we see more of him in Supercharge...however, he's missing his "other half."
Sledge is a figure I still need to pick up. I skipped him for Snyde because I've heard of how rare Snyde was so next villain I get will probably be him. His armor may be a bit bright but it isn't as bad as the original coloring we had when he was first unveiled, I think back then it was closer to a shade of orange I think? I'm not sure. Still a great looking figure.
For the main villain of the show Sledge turned out kinda middle of the road. If only he was casted in darker shades and had a better weapon he'd be solid but what he have now is servable.
I really like this figure. Some paint will help A LOT but I am actually appreciative of the level of articulation already.
I'm surprised it took them to the final wave to do this figure, considering how villiain heavy the line was.
I do wanna nab this figure, but he does DEFINITELY needs a weathering job with some silvers & blacks.
A figure suited for Citadel paints if there ever was one. He's practically an Ork already!
But that is a very clever design for the pauldrons. I'm actually impressed with the effort they put into it, and it seems to have worked very well. |
Sledge! I finally got a hold of him today, and he looks fantastic. I recall back in the very first images of him, he looked very light brown but he's very different in person. He has some pretty good articulation, and the movable shoulder pieces are great.
I think I may blackwash my figure to make him look more gritty. |
I have yet to find him yet, I want him
The lack of paint does look very extreme, but for what it is it still looks very solid. The way they did the shoulder armor is actually pretty clever and he seems to have an impressive amount of articulation.
Aside from being way too brightly painted he looks pretty neat. Again, like the rest of the villains, if I could freaking find one I'd pick him up.
The colors are god-awful, but I still want to get one of these at some point simply because I love his design.
Found him the other day, and I REALLY like 'em! I'm not having any troubles with the weapon, either. Fits snuggly and I don't see any problems with it. Strictly in a toy sense, I love 'em as is, but I see what you mean about the paint when I looked pictures of him from the show.
All of these image galleries just make it all the more frustrating that, no matter where I go, I can't find any of the villain figures in stores.
Looks like a fun repaint to do! I'll admit I wasn't very onboard with Sledge's design when I first saw it, but paint job aside I like it.
Its nice to have an original villain ever since Rpm. I wonder if they will ever use lord deboss in the second season..
Gonna have to agree with the paint apps opinion- this figure has so many great details sculpted in that get completely lost in the lazy paint
I'm a fan, but also not a fan. It's a step in the right direction, and I love the design.
Beggars can't be choosers, though, right? I mean we have villains now, so yay! |
It's annoying how fun this guy looks, but the cheaply planned out articulation kind of kills him for me.
Wow, he is bright. Way too bright for my tastes. Shame.
To be honest, I'm not a fan of Sledge. He seems way too generically evil while, in design, he just doesn't fit in that well. While I'm not a big Kyoryu nut, I would've much preferred to keep Chaos. For the figure, I definitely gotta give props for them making sure his shoulder armor doesn't interfere with the arm articulation. I'm surprised they were that considerate. Concerning colors, I would've lived with the bronze armor if the green wasn't as bright as well. I don't buy many BoA figures, but the lack of paint apps is really starting to get on my nerves. It's not just something I can overlook since the figures would be solid A to A+ if they had the paint to help the details pop. |
that brown armour looks to meh! might have to paint it to look a little battle damaged rust if i get him. as a main villain, kinda disappointment, as the other side villains look superior.
I love the look but like other said he does need some form of wAsh to make him look better
The green could be a little more muted and less glow in the dark, but otherwise an excellent looking thing. But yea... Not getting him until they make a Poisondra.
Not a bad piece. Love what Bandai did on the shoulder armor.
He looks like a Ninja Turtle on 'roids! I prefer Sting Rage's look, but this one isn't half-bad. Doesn't look as villainous though.
He looks really good. If I see him i will most definitely get him
Man, this figure is so good looking for a BoA release. The only thing it's missing is a nice black wash. 8D
As others have said, the colors aren't really accurate, but other than that he's a solidly built and fun figure.

Found him a few days ago and despite the flaws, its still a decent figure. Hopefully we'll see him in action during Super Dino Charge.
It looks a like a good enough figure, yes, the main selling point is that it's Seldge and not that it's an amazing figure by PR standards but he's more than fun enough and kids will probably have a blast with him.
I hate the design of this guy. He's just so basic! When Japan had so much to give in way of character designs Saban grabs some muscle suite, a couple 5 gallon buckets, and a few cans of spray paint to create this bizarre yet plain looking thing!
Its even more humiliating when it shares scenes with the Japanese costumes. Just a shame and the toy is pretty show accurate IMO |
I don't think this figure does the character justice
Soo... why is he doing the "Gangnam Style" pose in teh first image?
I've had mine for awhile and I'm just not quite happy with it. I appreciate they tried to keep the shoulder armor from interfering with the shoulders, but mine always just flip out and look dumb.
That and the color is definitely off in person. I still appreciate the figure almost solely because I love a shelf of monsters though. |
My so far favourite looking of the villain figures, right up there with Fury and Snide. I only currently own Fury of those 3 and am looking to grab Sledge, and have yet to find Snide. But something about Sledge is just really appealing to me in figure form. Definitely excited to get him.
Solid figure for the line, but I am still wondering why we aren't getting a Candelilla/Poisandra figure.
The shade of brown used on this guy looks pretty unappealing... The moulding of the figure itself looks good, but the colours look off. Shame- this guy isn't that bad of a villain
It's nice to see the mainline villian in toy form, finally.
I've seen most of this year's villian in toy form(walmarts). I suspect that chaos will be a certain transformed "human" monster released from his cell. The neon green is overkill, but i guess it sells toys. |
