I'd be happy if they released a Super Minipla GaoKing.
|
Still waiting on the Minipla Thunderzords that were rumored
|
So who here thinks Bandai is crazy enough to release all 100 Power Animals by any means.

Merged threads, adding the Gaoranger Super Minipla info to this Shodo Gaoranger thread as well.
Teaser just released by the Candy Toy Blog, with more information on the forthcoming Super Minipla set to be revealed no March 5th, marking the show's Gaoranger's 20th Anniversary! |
Really think the Thunderzords should’ve been next, especially when we have the rest of the MMPR season Zords (Dinozords, Ninjazords, Shogunzords) already released in Minipla
|
I don't know how far in advance Minipla releases are planned out or how long each one takes, but it seems like with Zenkaiger coming up, now would be the perfect time from a marketing perspective to make Daizyujin, Magiking and Daibouken along with Gaoking, assuming they don't have models for those already.

I could potentially see them re-issuing Daizyujin for this. Though, man, I'd especially love to see them do Goranger's Variblune... I think that would be the Super Minipla I'd get!

I would guess that Dairanger just isn't that popular?
|
I think they we'll see a Daizyujin Minipla re-release. Possibly Magiking.
|
I've hardly watched any Gaoranger/Wild Force, but my cousin had the Megazord toy and that was such a fantastic set. FOMO is settling on me for this one haha
What are recommended sites to try to PO from ? |

Of course, I'm not an expert on analyzing these things, but I can't imagine they're just ignoring the huge international appeal that the MMPR seasons have. |

When talking about ratings you also have to consider the -fan- aspect -- something that may not have been popular at the time could have become a big cult favourite among the fandom later. In particular Super Minipla bases most of its release choices on surveys it hands out to fans; and sure enough, Gaoranger has been very high on recent surveys. |

Similarly, GoLion was seen as just another super robot anime in an endless sea of super robot anime when it came out, but Voltron popularized it and now it has a SMP release as well. Anyways, do you know where Dairanger falls on these fan lists? Or what other seasons tend to rank towards the top? |

GoLion's situation I'm not overly familiar with, but did that have an international release? I'm always doubtful on the international aspect of these as candy toys as a thing just don't really exist in the west and of course wouldn't really be as popular. |

https://i.imgur.com/gfj5fqx.jpg VS https://i.imgur.com/epvCMqb.jpg They say Dreamworks on both, so maybe Dreamworks "ordered" it to promote Legendary Defender? Similar to how Toonami helped fund GITS: SAC and the FLCL sequels. |
Wouldn't be too surprised, and that's the big difference right there -- it's a piece of merchandise being sold internationally through Dreamworks, while Super Minipla Sentai mechs don't get anything of the like and are just available in Japan, with everything beyond the main mech even being Premium Bandai. Maybe Hasbro's worried it'll make their current legacy mecha offerings look bad or something.

US release: https://i.imgur.com/kdPUTJv.jpg VS Japanese release: https://i.imgur.com/OwzvNi0.jpg (sorry, couldn't find a larger image) But anyways, I don't think we'll actually find the answers through speculation. I just sincerely hope we get some Dairanger minipla some day... That, and Ohranger. Those two seasons have my favorite mech designs. |
Yeah, and in those cases I could easily see the overseas adaption's popularity playing into the decision there -- but the lack of it now is why it wouldn't matter in regards to Dairanger.

It might be worth noting that Dairanger got a notably healthy set of releases in the Sentai Artisan line, which is a pretty exclusive club. I'm probably even less informed about these things than most people, but for what it's worth, I have to imagine a Minipla DairenOh has a pretty solid chance of getting made... it just might take a bit for them to get around to it.
|
I do hope this release includes a good chunk of the power animals. Gaoking and GaoHunter are standard, but maybe a GaoIcarus or GaoKong + Elephant as well?
|
I mean, Bandai and Hasbro are rival toymakers, and considering one recently won the rights to make a still decently-profitable toyline over the other, it's not that surprising they don't want to feed into each other's profits.

Wild Force is the Ranger series I remember most fondly, so this news has me super stoked. I'm all in on this kit. Only other one I'd want would maybe be Engine-Oh (or a full G12 while we're at it)

I could have sworn the reception to Ninninger by Japanese fandom was overall positive...

The opinions among older fans might line up more often than we might think? I've certainly seen people rag on Kamen Rider Ghost in at least two languages! |

Anyways, I just realized I'm one of the top commenters on this topic and I haven't said a single thing about the Gaoking minipla, so uh...yeah. My bad :lol |
