Also, is it just me, or does it look like Build is about to do a bottle flip? :lol |
Ok, phew. The other forms put to rest the concern I had after seeing the base form, that being that each form would just be a recolor with different eyes, the other forms actually have weapons and different limbs and stuff. But that also leaves me even more confused as to why the hell the tank form has no tank weaponry. Seriously, what?
Clothes/Close/Claws (hoo boy) is interesting, but I'll need to see more before I can judge. And it looks like Nightrogue and Bloodstark are probably Mashin Chaser-esque rider-likes after all, which is interesting. Also, I swear these scanners/leakers get a kick out of being a tease and slowly dribbling things in before they finally just put all the scans up. It's the smallest amount of power I've ever seen go to someone's head. |

So what they do is introduce the bike early, sell the one toy they want to sell, and then abandon the bike and save themselves the costs of filming with it. And of course, all the forms need more time so the scenes with the bike need to be toned down. Some shows tried to apply the alternate form-mentality to the bikes (Double with the different attachments to the HardBoilder) but it didn't stick so I assume it didn't work out. It's probably too expensive to feature CGI-heavy vehicles or multiple real machines for an extensive time as well. Strangely enough, Drive came close to have the Rider machine matter again but it was a car. And I think it's a formula worth replicating: Give the bike an AI, have it manifest with a hologram so it can act as a character and have the machine change alongside the Rider's forms. But as long as the current formula works out I'm afraid the trend of bikes vanishing after the end of the first quarter will continue. Also, I heard that filming with heavily customized bikes gets more and more difficult as they have issues with being able to legally drive them but I don't know if that's true or not - I don't even know how this kind of stuff works in Europe, let alone Japan :lol |
Something I just noticed about NightRogue and Close/Clothes: their designs are mostly symmetrical, although NightRogue does a minor color swap on its piping. Pretty stark contrast to Build's asymmetry.
I'm thinking that when we get the inevitable Legend Rider versions of Build, they may do something interesting by having a few different forms that aren't just one Rider, but two blended. So, like, Gaim/Drive or (more interestingly) Ghost/Kiva. I can also see a major exception for W; I don't think the W manga's timing is coincidental, and wouldn't be surprised to see a W guest appearance. Maybe something like W Tank/Cyclone and Build Joker/Rabbit. |

Para-DX called. He wants the gimmick he stole from Double back.
But in all seriousness this stuff all looks... very acceptable? It's just wacky enough to not be flatly awesome like a Kabuto or a Wizard, but on the other hand it's way too cool to be a bold statement like a Fourze or an Ex-Aid. It's a weird feeling. I like what I'm seeing a fair bit but I'm also kind of unexcited? Of course, it generally takes me until seeing a trailer for the show to truly come around to any new Rider, so I guess it's nothing to worry about. |
Does anyone else think that Hawk Gatling's left eye looks like a fidget spinner?
