Episode 47 "Battle Of Red Cliffs"
Wow, Legend Heroes has done so much to pay off so many story beats. From Sun Quan taking up the mantle of his brother which to me is a perfect way to end his arc allowing him to experience his brother's struggle and come to an understanding with him. And I love his new found dynamic with Liu Bei being the smarter “younger brother” to cast the while his inclusion is very late in the game it still offers so much with so little time. Cao cao descent to villany with his discarding ideals to the point where not even being compared to Dong Zhou gets a reaction out of him makes for a truly terrifying villain to fight. Then there Liu Bei his overwhelming Hero Power in the face of Sun Quan defeat, the power of Imperial controlling him once again mirroring his beat down of Dong Zhou in episode 25 and his growth of having Zhuge Liang being able to talk him down when that didn’t work before in episode 41. It shows he is not infallible, how his powers are indeed scary but how he also comes out of this stronger than before and won’t commit the snake mistakes as last time. We're nearing the end so soon and when that happens I’ll be there for it. |
While I am overall glad that he finally got something, I feel like this latest arc with Sun Ce would've been alot more effective had we gotten it earlier. Plus it has to share screen time with Kaiser which, while not done terribly, could've worked great as its own separate arc altogether.
The climax of episode 47 was pretty friggen awesome though, I will say. |
Episode 48 "The Great Warlord Descends" & Episode 49 "Expedition Memorial"
Cao Cao descent to villainy from his lust for more power has created the final boss Sima Yan and I do love the suit it is very much an eviler version of Imperial and that is brilliant as the Legend Hero who destroys the world from both Liu Bei and Cao Cao dream has been revealed. https://i.ibb.co/x71LxR3/Screenshot-20210727-224926.jpg https://i.ibb.co/t4Ywr0S/Screenshot-20210727-224910.jpg Plus big red eyes and a black body with gunmetal grey linings are always going to look amazing to me. Mi Zhu and his brothers, especially Han Fu, got one last amazing moment to shine. Cementing their friendship with Liu Bei and for being so out of focus lately. But the real focus of this episode is Zhuge Liang. https://i.ibb.co/XX058nx/Screenshot-20210727-225006.jpg Never living life, always feeling contempt of his burdens of being an angel and how thanks to Liu Bei he starts to enjoy things tying it all together is Xu Shu garden and the memories she‘s made and wanted to make with him In an inverse of Sima Yan Zhuge Liang gives up his life to Liu Bei. https://i.ibb.co/MhhJ088/Screenshot-20210727-225018.jpg And the final battle is upon us and at the center of Cao Cao story is Diaochan |
I dug the hell out these two episodes! From the high stakes, the other bits of story they managed to sneak in. Like establishing that Cao Cao had fallen so far that he started neglecting Diachan, as well as showing us that they remembered that Bulk and Skull existed, and of course, the Mi Zhu brothers getting their shining moment. I am incredibly hyped to see the finale!

Final Episode "Final Battle"
Spoilers for Kamen Rider OOO and Amazons Season 2 Finales The finale of a show is always an interesting feeling. And I will dearly miss this show. Diaochan showing up and being the beating heart to Cao Cao character is exactly the type of story that the show has put a lot of justified stock into and rounding out with the Flyquitos protecting their only fan feels like the natural conclusion to their stories wished we saw them after the whole things were over though but I suppose it’s just like their characters to disappear like that. With Cao Cao’s sense of self coming back the Sima Yi was exercised and he summons his final trump card Legend King Deathlon and wow the sense of scale is huge. https://i.ibb.co/cvN5NXN/Screenshot-20210730-220352.jpg Comparing it next to Eternity which was scaled to be bigger than an average Legend King, Deathlon towers over definitely an impressive final boss I’ll admit. I am also glad to see Eternity back reminds me of how Tajador was made unavailable after Putotyra’s debut and was brought back for the finale as a symbolic gesture of Eiji and Ankh’s friendship. With Sima Yi defeated Cao Cao offers to simply step out but he, Liu Bei, and even Sun Quan have to settle this they transform and battle and the victor is Liu Bei but in a scene similar to Amazons Season 2 Finale we see the initial clash and then cutaway to the victor but I get the feeling people are going to be less mad about this though. https://i.ibb.co/p0Xc0pK/Screenshot-20210730-220412.jpg Liu Bei wish of everybody being happy is impossible simply for being too vast but he understands he wants to get rid of the Dream Battle instead for people to live normal lives and thanks to Zhuge Liang quick-thinking goffers an alternative solution and him and the Five tiger Generals say their farewells to Liu Bei. In one final scene, Zhou Yu reminisces when she and Sun Ce first met and gives up her life for him thus ending the Tiger of Gangdong story. And so the story raps about getting to finally see Gongzan Sun back!! And the Master as well. https://i.ibb.co/RNnMH9F/Screenshot-20210730-220438.jpg Cao Cao has softened considerably with Diaochan even wanting to learn Dragon Fist, Sun Ce and Quan is now duos of fighters and Liu Bei is the only one who remembers it’s fine this way and although we don’t see their human forms the 5 generals return and with Liu Bei still wishing every day for happier future. https://i.ibb.co/02kY1DQ/Screenshot-20210730-220453.jpg Thank you Legend Hero it’s been a blast. I'll post one final thought on this whole experience so look forward to that and thank you, everybody, for reaching this point. https://i.ibb.co/nCX1Sr7/Screenshot-20210730-220509.jpg |
I'm not quite to the end, but this thread inspired me to watch this series. I really enjoy how it is a blend of Kamen Rider & Super Sentai. Additionally, this has motivated me to read The Three Kingdoms so I can better understand the character motivations. All in all, this has become one of my favorite tokusatsu series I've watched in the past few years. Thank you for enlightening me!

Man, if they had somehow found the extra time to show an actual fight between the final three, and brought back Bulk and Skull one last time, I would've called this finale out and out perfect. Still, what was there was all around great, and I was so happy to see Gongsun Zan back!
Will definitely make a final thoughts post too! |
Grand, remember the thing I said I wanted to show you way back when?
It's a music video of the show's OP, set to the fights the staff liked the best. Here ya go. Also, found a behind the scenes filming video. |
Final Thoughts And Something A Bit More Personal
So the ending thank you everyone I know I don’t comment on every single post you guys make but do know I do read them. From the bottom of my heart for every viewer, commentator and watcher for putting up with an inconsistent schedule It’s been a blast this whole year or at least close to that time. But let's look back on it: what compelled me to make this thread in the first place? Part of it was inspired by both Die's and Fish Sandwich's various threads that got the jumpstart for me but the other one is a but more personal and I want to share that out. The summer of 2020 and the Covid-19 Quarantine was in full swing and I returned to the Ultraman franchise thanks to Z being simulcasted on Youtube (which if you haven't watched this and Trigger yet you should there no need for any past knowledge and it may seem intimadating at first but Ultraman is a ton of fun) after my last exposure to the franchise was Mega Monster Battle: Ultra Galaxy movie. This ignited a hunger for other tokusatsu outside of Kamen Rider and I quickly binged the entirety of the New Generation Ultraman shows I’ve missed over the years showing a side of tokusatsu I’ve neglected for far too long. And in that same vein I sought out my now first completed Sentai; Kiramager, a season I found absolutely adored by the fanbase making it’s return after the hiatus and for the first time I got into Sentai after not gelling with other entries in the past. And that new spark also was what led me into watching Legend Heroes. It shocked me that a show that is as accessible as Ultraman Z wasn’t garnering any attention and I’ve begun to realize the extent to how niche tokusatsu really was. The discussion online was usually Kamen Rider, Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Ultraman and Godzilla in that order essentially (with Metal Heroes getting thrown around here and there) so I wanted to give at least one show a bit more exposure in that regard I feel like I’ve succeeded. Legend Heroes when I first started watching was a positive experience that I really enjoyed but it grew beyond that, the stakes we’re ever raised, the characters changed and grow not even five episode is the main cast the same again, I thoroughly enjoyed the suit designs and the mythology the show crafted, the lesson and interactions touched me and I hope you too as well. Thank you Legend Heroes becoming not only one of my favorite shows ever but what I considered quintessential tokusatsu that everyone should give a chance. (BTW for those wondering my other quintessential toku are Ultraman Gaia and Kamen Rider Kuuga) Will I ever do another toku discussion thread? Maybe in fact highly likely but I make no promises and even if I don’t I personally feel proud of this one right here and from here on out I’m going to be more responsive in this thread. Quote:
